Birthday! Big Grin

He'd dreamt of music and dancing the night before, everyone celebrating his life. In his dreams, he didn't have to share the spotlight; he was the guest of honor, no one else. In his dreams, he enjoyed a wonderful party that ended with a kiss from Aro, the guy he'd unexpectedly fallen for. As the dream faded away, he felt content. As the realization hit him, that it was all just a dream, that content feeling washed away into one of disappointment. When he woke, he found tears staining his fur and pillow, and his vision refused to clear for a good three or so minutes. Already he could tell that today wouldn't be nearly as wonderful as his dream. What rotten luck.

Still, Gotham managed to pull himself out of bed and by the time the sky had turned blue instead of that early morning pink, he'd dressed and groomed, fully awake. He knew what today was. He'd paid attention. He knew full well that in the past, humans celebrated this day respectively, and that luperci didn't see as much point in it as they had. But why not?

Surely the shorter lifespans of a luperci made for more reasons to celebrate one's birthday, right? So few lived to be gray, so in consideration, one day away from the troubles of being a wolf would be the highlight of the year, right? Gotham honestly couldn't remember celebrating his previous birthday... but this year, he hoped it would be different.

Sadly, that meant he would have to share. That childish side of him that still loved playing and exploring screamed that sharing was not in the agenda for one's birthday, but being a mature adult now... Gotham would have to admit defeat and share this special day with... ugh, his sisters.

The hopeful smile that had formed on the wolf's face faded into a disgruntled scowl at the thought. He knew full well how the pack would be. His sisters were both much more well known, popular, in the pack than him. The entire pack would be happy to celebrate their birthday, but his? He was the third wheel.

As Gotham stepped out of his room, dressed in a black dress shirt and the usual cargo pants and leather jacket, fur and hair brushed and clean, he thought about the upsides he could find today. Surely his mother and father would be equal with the praise to him and his siblings. They'd made it to adulthood! They were adults now! And Aro!

The thought of the boy's cousin brought such a bright smile to his face that it was hard to tell he'd previously been crying or upset. Surely Aro would pay him the most mind out of he and his siblings. The two had something special. Maybe he'd spend his birthday alone with the other male. That would prove to be fun, right? Time with Aro was always worth the risk, that much he knew for sure.

So with a hopeful and day-dreaming smile on his face, Gotham finally reached the room he'd been heading to; his parents' room. Kansas and Savina were both likely still asleep, or else he'd find them easily. Right now, he wanted to be sure they knew full well that their first litter of children were now adults, and that was a thing to be celebrated.

He knocked on the door, then waited, tail swishing in the afterglow of his day dreaming.
