Birthday! Big Grin

He'd dreamt of music and dancing the night before, everyone celebrating his life. In his dreams, he didn't have to share the spotlight; he was the guest of honor, no one else. In his dreams, he enjoyed a wonderful party that ended with a kiss from Aro, the guy he'd unexpectedly fallen for. As the dream faded away, he felt content. As the realization hit him, that it was all just a dream, that content feeling washed away into one of disappointment. When he woke, he found tears staining his fur and pillow, and his vision refused to clear for a good three or so minutes. Already he could tell that today wouldn't be nearly as wonderful as his dream. What rotten luck.

Still, Gotham managed to pull himself out of bed and by the time the sky had turned blue instead of that early morning pink, he'd dressed and groomed, fully awake. He knew what today was. He'd paid attention. He knew full well that in the past, humans celebrated this day respectively, and that luperci didn't see as much point in it as they had. But why not?

Surely the shorter lifespans of a luperci made for more reasons to celebrate one's birthday, right? So few lived to be gray, so in consideration, one day away from the troubles of being a wolf would be the highlight of the year, right? Gotham honestly couldn't remember celebrating his previous birthday... but this year, he hoped it would be different.

Sadly, that meant he would have to share. That childish side of him that still loved playing and exploring screamed that sharing was not in the agenda for one's birthday, but being a mature adult now... Gotham would have to admit defeat and share this special day with... ugh, his sisters.

The hopeful smile that had formed on the wolf's face faded into a disgruntled scowl at the thought. He knew full well how the pack would be. His sisters were both much more well known, popular, in the pack than him. The entire pack would be happy to celebrate their birthday, but his? He was the third wheel.

As Gotham stepped out of his room, dressed in a black dress shirt and the usual cargo pants and leather jacket, fur and hair brushed and clean, he thought about the upsides he could find today. Surely his mother and father would be equal with the praise to him and his siblings. They'd made it to adulthood! They were adults now! And Aro!

The thought of the boy's cousin brought such a bright smile to his face that it was hard to tell he'd previously been crying or upset. Surely Aro would pay him the most mind out of he and his siblings. The two had something special. Maybe he'd spend his birthday alone with the other male. That would prove to be fun, right? Time with Aro was always worth the risk, that much he knew for sure.

So with a hopeful and day-dreaming smile on his face, Gotham finally reached the room he'd been heading to; his parents' room. Kansas and Savina were both likely still asleep, or else he'd find them easily. Right now, he wanted to be sure they knew full well that their first litter of children were now adults, and that was a thing to be celebrated.

He knocked on the door, then waited, tail swishing in the afterglow of his day dreaming.

*pushes the over sized puppy into thread*

A few days ago, Tony's mother had told him and his siblings about their cousins' birthday, and said that they should be considerate. Tony had been curious as to what exactly what one did for a birthday and had learned that usually participants would give gifts to the birthday wolves. But Tony could not make anything, nor did he really have anything to his name to give, so he had been puzzled as to what to do for his cousins. His mother had assured him that if he just spent time with his cousins and made sure that they had fun it would be enough, at least until he was a little older. Fun he could do.

So bright and early--since he had been forced to bed early the previous day anyway--Tony woke up and went about the manor in search of Amata, Cambria, and Gotham. He had seen Cambria more often than the other two, but oddly, it was Gotham's scent he smelled first. Tracking it, the boy found his older cousin--who was about the same age as his older brother, Aro--in front of Savina's door, seemingly very happy and lost in thought. Feeling a little mischievous, Tony hunched down, wiggled his shoulders, and pounced for Gotham's exposed back, flinging all his overgrown, brown-black puppy self--which was a lot, considering his muscle was already pretty high and he had his father's genes--at the man, shouting,"Happy Birthday!"

The others can jump in anytime, still.

The now-adult prince was hoping for his parents to greet him first, at the very least his father, since his mother was usually cooped up these days. The last thing he expected was for a less-related family member to find him, and he never expected a 'happy birthday' to come about without a reminder. He was obviously caught off guard when Tony appeared to do just that.

Gotham gave a sharp yelp when he was attacked from behind. He actually ended up slamming chest-first into his parents' door, rolling over to the side and effectively being pinned by the pup. He blinked, then grinned; it was Tony, his little cousin, wishing him a violent 'happy birthday'. Gotham couldn't help the tiny laugh that escaped as he grabbed for the kid's head and went to roll them over so neither were on eachother. "Hey Tony."

Once free, he sat up, perfectly fine with sitting on the floor. "Thanks." He smiled. "You're up early. You wanna help me find the others? I want to see if I can find at least my dad, and you're just the fellow who can help."

Lying haphazardly over his cousin, an unwieldy dead-weight with over sized paws splayed over the black wolf's side, Tony smiled with a bit of his tongue sticking out the front, personally pleased that he had landed such a blow, even though he was trying to give well-wishes. The boy just didn't know the different between his love and violence was all. He smiled a little more when Gotham showed signs of some sort of happiness, laughing a little himself when the older male pushed him off by his head. Still too young for any changes in his voice, the laugh was a bit off, not exactly fitting his body image and instead sounding like a very deep female's voice. But he would surely grow into it; as surely as he would grow into his monster paws...

"Hiya Gotham," he said in response, stretched out on the floor now, legs all about and tail wagging. Gotham seemed in good spirits, and Tony's doubled when he was given the opportunity for a job. He may not always seem it, but Tony was always eager to help. Tracking wasn't exactly his chosen forte or profession, but he would do it. It could be my birthday present to him! he thought with childlike naiveté, immediately raising up his hind-quarters in the body-language of 'play' or 'ready'. The praising near the end had also helped just to get his nerves ready to go... "Yeah! I'll help!" Now, another thing could be said about Tony; when excited, most other things tended to get lost. Including fine details like...oh, a door being only a foot or so away. Gotham had mentioned his dad, so he had begun to sniff for his scent and, in his blind excitement, run his nose smack straight into the door. Sitting back up, wrinkling his nose with very little soreness and much more embarrassment, he turned his head to his cousin. "But Uncle Kansas is right here...?" he asked, as if he were being given a trick question. He looked with a passion of dislike to the door before turning back to Gotham. "Aro should be around here somewhere. I haven't seen him or Sophe for awhile, though. Fia and Zo are still sleeping--we could wake 'em up though--and...I think Cam's with Mati? Haven't seen Amata." The last three he said on a guess, although he could've sworn that his older brother had been in the mansion recently. Being older, he could of course understand that his elder siblings would not want to stay so close to the mansion. Heck, when he was older, he'd spend as much time as possible outside. If it were possible, it'd be plausible to say that he took after his older brother in the whole 'hero' dream. Rousing himself again, he puffed his chest out. "C'mon! We can both look for them!" He felt like now would be a good time for bonding, never mind that he was being selfish on his cousin's birthday. Even then he still a little too immature to differentiate between selfishness and desire.

I must track down Aro ooc to get him in on this thread. >/

Gotham watched with avid amusement as little Tony started to sniff around for the first target; Gotham's father. It almost made Gotham burst out laughing as the kid ran straight into the door, and he had to clap his hand over his mouth to try and hide the snort that broke through. With a bit of laughter still in his voice, the boy hummed as the kid went on about where everyone could be. At the mention of Aro, Gotham's eyes lit up.

Then Tony was ready to go, suggesting they look together. Gotham heaved a grunt as he stood up, stretching his back out once on two feet again, and he smirked. "Alright, alright. I think we should go in your order, and come back for my dad. Let him sleep in." Truthfully, he wanted to see Aro first; he had a certain gift he wanted to get from the cousin, even at the cost of total parently rejection.

Not that he'd ever, EVER, mention that around Tony or his siblings. Never. "Let's go looking for your big brother first, okay? We can let Fia and Zo sleep in some, and once we find Aro, we can look around for Sophe and my sisters. Sound fair?" He hated the idea of sharing his birthday, but if Aro was there, he wouldn't mind. He knew he'd likely be the center of his cousin's attention. He was already the center of his kid cousin's attention as it was.

He started forward down the hall, towards Aro's room. "I figure check his room, and if you want, I can teach you a thing or two about track scents, okay?" Not that the prince needed to, nor did he want to. He figured if he kept the kid amused, everything would be fine, and then he could hope and pray Aro knew more about kids than he did. Even around his siblings, Gotham was clueless, lost in their seemingly constent excitement and wonder. Had he ever been that childish?
