The male had happened upon her presence at a time in which the darkness was great within her mind, a thick tenebrous cloud that bound her thoughts within its dark, dense quality. Troubled still—or invigorated?—by her ominous dream, the taekwondo fighter was eager to set her body in action. Her blood was hot, but her composure was calm. Her sensed alerted, her light-sensitive eyes fierce, she watched the male who chose to intrude upon her company. It was difficult, perhaps, as a loner without a concrete abode, to keep the other wolves from intruding upon her current resting place, but a male should know better than to wander as such into a female’s company. She thought that the wolves here in the West should know that. Perhaps culture here was not as it was in the East. She had already noticed many differences in the few encounters that she had had. A soft growl moved within her graceful throat as she awaited the male’s response. But what the foreigner would do with the response, she did not know. She rolled her shoulders, stretching the eager muscles there.

When the male finally responded, his words went by relatively quickly. The black ears strained to catch every word, and yet could not. Many words she did not recognize—‘intrigue’, ‘honest’. Some words, because they went by so quickly, were simply lost. Perhaps, had the foreign fae been of a better mood, she would have understood more easily. The last part that the stranger spoke, however, was a bit easier for the Korean woman to understand. When she responded, her tone was even, though neither amiable nor hostile. “Ah-ee naht noh-oo in-teu-ri-geu the female replied, copying to her best ability the pronunciation of ‘intrigue’. Because she did not know the meaning of the word, she used it incorrectly. For a moment, the fae paused, translating another sentence before speaking. “Aehk-sehn-teu....” Then she indicated to herself by patting her collar twice. “Peu-ruhm Goh-ryeo. Koh-ri-ah.” She wondered if he knew Korea, or had heard of it at least. Many did not. Somehow, many knew of Japan and China, but they did not know her homeland. It was strange, as Korea lay between the two.

The black plume moved behind her thoughtfully. Having been unable to understand his explanation, the Jindo hybrid wondered still why the male was in her presence. She herself, if she did not fight—and currently being a loner she was hesitant to start trouble with the packs that she may one day join—needed to calm her darkened mind. A cool bath may have been appropriate, but she needed first to find such a place. Yet, as long as the male was in her company, she would remain in her current location. The black female may herself have been intrigued by the stranger’s sudden appearance. The Korean chose to be patient, willing herself to be still. Perhaps this chance to socialize would calm her mind enough to function at her best.
