But there was still enough of the wild remaining that Mati could make herself believe that her belonging in their ranks was not a possibility. Then the dark wolfess extended something, and purple eyes looked down to see what it was. Brushes? Mati watched as the older woman extended the gift. It was practical, and yet thoughtful and the thin sticks of wood and soft bristles seemed to crack the walls she had surrounded her heart and those she loved. Why? She questioned. Why did this woman care so much? Blood was simply something that ran through her veins, it was not as deep and touching as moments of time and memories and a relationship. Mati nodded, and stepped back without taking the gift. Come in Soran. She said without a smile. She would not give her her heart, not like she had given her mother Anu, and Cambi and her packmates. But she could give her time, if only a little What are you doing here? She asked. Though the question maybe slightly incriminating her tone was not.
