Private for the granddaughter <3 Set on the 2nd of August Smile WC: 1292

The afternoon sun was pouring into the room, reflecting off of the bare white walls, it caught small items around the room, causing them to glint and shine in the bright light. Those items were a long shining flute which now glittered silver, small shiny rocks caught the light as well and sparkled as if they were full of crystals, on the brightly coloured chequered bedspread the eyes and nose of a small toy wolf glittered as well. The toy was made from rabbit fur, sewed together carefully by whomever had made it, it's eyes made of silver beads, it's nose a bright black button. These items were of course all Soran's, she had made the wolf with care for her youngest daughter, Kiwi, the young green eyed girl had insisted her mother take it with her on the journey back to the lands, so that the ebony wolfess had a piece of her youngest litter wherever she went, so that she knew she was loved. The other artefacts had been collected along the fae's travels, some she had owned for years, like the flute and the tattered sheet music beneath it, others were new, the collection of interesting rocks and beads were always growing as the fae found new interesting objects to add to it. Now that she had the space to put them the collection had grown quickly, many more stones and small porcelain beads had found their way onto the plain white shelf that the others had rested on, spreading out and giving the bland room some much needed colour. The walls were too plain for the ebony grandmother's liking, they had been painted a plain magnolia by the humans who had occupied the house before the pack had moved in, along with the small wicker chair that sat in the corner, the fae was in the process of making a fur throw to cover that, collecting the skins of rabbits that she had caught and sewing them together, but the process would be slow, rabbits were so small and she would need many to make a throw of a reasonable size. The only real flashes of colour came from the bedspread, the blanket being a selection of wollen squares of all kinds of colours stitched together. The fae liked it, the reds, yellows, blues, greens and purples helped inject some life and personality into the otherwise plain room, she did not like not having her own stamp upon it, her own personal flair, she wanted to change it, she wanted to find some paint to spruce the place up again. She had been out for the past few days attempting to find paint, but so far she had been unlucky, having been distracted by Charm and Sarajevo, perhaps she would manage to find some today.

The truth was the ebony lady knew where she could find some paint, the evidence had been obvious, she could smell the paint as soon as she got anywhere near to the sunroom, but she had been too scared to go and knock on the door, the other scent stopping her. Mati. She knew now which room belonged to her reddish brown granddaughter, and her mate, the young daughter of the dark leader of Crimson Dreams. She did want to go and see Mati again, she wanted to try and break the ice between the pair of them, she wanted so badly to have a relationship with her granddaughter, she had missed so much of her life up until now, she wanted a chance to make up for it, to fix things between the pair. She had always been intending to go and see her again, she had actually aqquired a present for her not long after her first meeting with her, she had noticed the paint splatters on her fur, the paint on her fingertips and knew that she was an artist, plus she had it on good authority that her reddish granddaughter liked to paint, so when she had found the collection of brand new paintbrushes in a small packet she had decided that they would be the perfect present for her. So she had picked them up and put them in her bag, and now they were staring at her from the shelf, accusing her of not having given them over yet, they were not being used and they were clearly upset at that, if they could feel that was, Soran knew it was a fanciful thought, but still, they still seemed to be staring at her with scorn. She had been reading all morning, sat on her new terrace, her long legs crossed as she sat, trying to get lost in the world of fiction that William Shakespeare had crafted so well. But it had been to no avail, her mind had continously drifted back to the paintbrushes, the bare walls, her granddaughter. Perhaps it was time to go and see her, closing the book she walked back into the room, placing the book carefully onto the shelf, putting it neatly with all of the others, making sure it was perfectly in place. Swallowing hard she crossed the room and picked up the packet of paintbrushes, she held them for a moment, staring at all the differently sized brushes, smiling slightly, she was more than a little nervous at the idea of seeing Mati again, but the time had come.

Building up all the courage she could muster, the ebony fae opened her door and stepped out into the hall. She closed the door behind her carefully and began walking down the hallway, the bare wood creaking gently underfoot as she walked upon it, her usual silent footsteps being marred by the old wood in the house. She crossed through the workshop quickly, moving as swiftly as she could, worrying that if she stopped or slowed for a moment then she would lose her nerve and go back to her room, having to work up to leaving to see her granddaughter once again. Soon she found herself in the library again, here she did pause, smiling at the collection of books, it made her nostalgic for the old Syemv house, where she had amassed a good collection of books of her own. She looked around at all the books resting neatly upon the shelves, she smiled to herself, resolving to read them all when she had time. Somehow by remembering the old house something of her old self returned to her, the female who had been so optomistic and full of life, the fae that would not sit idley by when there was something she wanted. She felt brave once again. Long strides made quick work of the remaining distance between herself and Mati's room. She paused her by the closed door, taking a deep breath she gently stroked the paintbrushes again with her palm, she hoped they would go someway to being a peace offering, she did not want to buy Mati's love, she accepted that they might be thrown in her face, but she hoped that Mati would take them, that she would see that her grandmother meant no harm, that all she wanted was to be a part of her life. The ebony lady would accept it if her reddish granddaughter did not want her in her life, although it would shatter her already damaged heart. It was just a gamble she was going to have to take. Taking another deep, steadying breath she raised a dark hand, rapping her knuckles against the door, knocking gently. She realised her hands were shaking slightly with nerves, but there was no running away now, she would simply have to see what reception she gained when the door opened.

The woman sat the hedgehog onto the table, her hands dusty from the cleaning that she had just done. The room was finally tidy, things in some sort of order and in their respective places. She looked at the spiked-pig and gave him an accomplished nod, Nothing like a neat room. She spoke to Ambrose and a smug smile. Living with her mate, the hedgehog and a mourning dove made it hard to keep the room looking like it wasn't a gang of wild animals that lived behind the door. But they each tried their best, and it was Mati's turn to pick the room a pick me up. She hummed lightly as she picked out a pencil, the hedgehog sitting beside a pad of old worn paper and looking at her with dark black eyes. The wolfess had things to do, muse meddling with her mind and telling her that she needed to get to work. She begun with exercises, drawing the outline of the hedged animal once and then twice just to get the kinks out of her hand and brain. But as she settled down to draw him a third time there was a knock on the door.

She paused, looking at the closed door and wondering who it was that needed her, or her mate who was off picking herbs or healing wounds. Her brow lowered, a frown settling in her features but she lightened her expression before rising to answer the call. When she saw the beast beyond the thick wooden planks she stopped herself from sighing, nor from showing the large amount of surprise that she felt seeing her grandmother (of sorts) standing in her doorway. She was oblivious towards the fact that Soran had joined her pack, and wondered why she was inside the haven that Haven Manor was. Mati said nothing, astonished and startled and speechless.

Tis ok hun Smile WC: 1113

The tall ebony wolf was more nervous than she had been in a long time, now knowing what Naniko had done, how she had betrayed her grandchildren so deeply, imjured their hearts, stabbed at the very core of them, it was so unfair what she had done, hurting them in this way, one expected a certain amount of betrayal in their lives, but from their own mother it must have been heart breaking, the ebony fae had been betrayed by those she loved and trusted most deeply, her son, she had never loved her father but she should have, but he had betrayed her the moment she was born, trying to end her life before it had had a chance to begin. She knew the pain that went with a member of your own family, someone who's blood flowed in your own veins, betrayed you, she knew that it must be difficult for her grandchildren to forgive their mother, and their father and indeed herself, as she had left them in the hands of such unfit parents, truthfully she had not known, could not have forseen what would have happened once she had left. But still she could see why they also felt betrayed by her, she had left them at the mercy of a rapist and a drug addict, she had been a terrible grandmother to them. Even if at the time she had thought that she was doing the best thing possible for them, that she could not be a fit grandmother for her grandchildren when she herself was so broken, when she had been facing problems tat she could not cope with herself, she had felt that she had been doing the best thing for them, at the time their father had not been around for a long time, which was for the best for them, and Naniko, Nani had been a stable creature, a good mother, Soran had felt she had no reason to doubt the alabaster fae's abilities to raise these children to be happy and to want for nothing, apparently she had been wrong, at the time there had been no way of her knowing what was to come, but she could not help but wish that she had been here when it had all happened, she herself had been a drug addict, maybe she could have used her own experiences to stop Naniko doing what she had done, to convince her that the worst thing in the world was to become so dependant on a substance that you neglected your family, your duties, your pack, Soran had lost four children to drugs, Conri being the only one that had survived being born, she knew now that that was the heroin that she had been pumping into her system. She would never touch it again, she had destroyed what had been left and decided to try to be a good mother, she seemed to have failed at that as well though.

Ears swivelled as she heard movement in the room, the nerves grew even more, choking her, stifling any voice she might have chosen to use at this moment, had she been feeling braver, she might have called out, asking if anyone was at home so that she was not stood staring at a closed door, but she found herself completely unable to do that. She swallowed hard as she heard the door handle being turned, she so wanted to see Mati again, she wanted to see her granddaughter and have a chance to explain and talk to her properly, allow the girl a chance to get to know her before she decided that she hated her, she knew that that was a strong possibility, but she wanted to know she had tried and not just faded into the background of the reddish brown girl's life without a fight, or at least trying to help her to understand why she had left. She could never take back her abandonment of the pups, no matter how badly she wanted to, nor could she change the actions of her red son and her pale daughter, but she could try and make amends now, she could try and at least show the girl that she was nothing like her parents, just as Soran herself was nothing like her father, who had been a murderous psychopath, she was so far from anything he had been it made her proud. The door opened finally and the lady smiled softly, although very nervously, at the girl before her, she seemed to be dumbstruck to see the sable female, the lady could not blame her, she had not given any indication that she was coming to stay here, nor that she would be moving into the house, she supposed in Mati's mind she had left never to return, as she had done so many times before, but that was not going to happen this time, no, she was here to stay and she was going to try and rebuild the charred remains of the bridge between herself and her family members, even if it killed her. She stared at the girl quietly for a moment, again drinking her in, everytime she saw her she could not help but want to memorise everything about her, she was her blood, and here she stood, so tall and grown up, oh how the ebony lady wished she had been here to see her grow, it must have been a wonderful experience, she would have loved to have helped her develop her artistic skills, but alas, some things were not meant to be.

Finally the dark female found her voice, "hello Mati, I thought I would come and see you, I wanted to talk to you, I thought it was about time for you to get some of the explanations that have been owed to you for far too long." Soran said, her voice quavering with nerves, she kept having to pause and swallow, her mouth seemed suddenly devoid of all moisture, the nerves had taken it all away it seemed, she was waiting for the inevitable slamming of the door in her face after all.
"I er... I brought you these, I knew you like painting and I saw them and thought of you, you don't have to use them or anything... I just thought they might be... helpful to you." The lady added, offering the bundle of differently sized paintbrushes to her reddish brown granddaughter, her hand shaking violently as she did so. She stood and waited for some kind of response, something, even if it was just a slamming of the door in her face.

Her purple eyes blinked, her braining releasing her from it's pause and then rolling forth with questions. What was she doing here? How did she get through the borders without anyone noticing? Her breath no longer caught in her throat, Mati inhaled through her nose and found that there was that distinct scent of Crimson Dreams in her fur. But there was still enough of the wild remaining that Mati could make herself believe that her belonging in their ranks was not a possibility. Of course, Soran spoke, her words lengthy even as she stared at Mati's shocked face. There was nothing that could be said, not yet, as Mati took in the words that were given. But, she didn't want them. No, she thought blinking away the daze. No she didn't want to take what Soran had to give. Blood meant nothing to her.

Then the dark wolfess extended something, and purple eyes looked down to see what it was. Brushes? Mati watched as the older woman extended the gift. It was practical, and yet thoughtful and the thin sticks of wood and soft bristles seemed to crack the walls she had surrounded her heart and those she loved. Why? She questioned. Why did this woman care so much? Blood was simply something that ran through her veins, it was not as deep and touching as moments of time and memories and a relationship. But it seemed that Soran wanted nothing more then that. Moments and memories and a relationship.

Mati nodded, and stepped back without taking the gift. Come in Soran. She said without a smile. She would not give her her heart, not like she had given her mother Anu, and Cambi and her packmates. But she could give her time, if only a little What are you doing here? She asked. Though the question maybe slightly incriminating her tone was not. Mati wished to understand why she was in their home. The woman extended a hand, inviting her to sit upon the least paint splattered stool while she took her normal seat beside the long table.

Yes, very quick Smile WC: 1204

Soran was holding her breath slightly as she watched the reddish brown girl, she was still unsure how the young girl would react to her being here, after all she had not known that she had come to the pack and moved in, accidentally selecting a room that was so close to her granddaughter and her mate. But this was her home now, despite the tensions between the family she had a right to be here, it was her home as much as it was Mati's, but still the girl had every right to slam the door in her face and send her away. And the ebony female would not blame her in the slightest, with everything that happened, she could not expect Mati to be happy to see her, left alone welcoming, especially as Soran had come so close to her own little sanctuary within the house, no doubt the girl was feeling that it was an invasion of space. Although the ebony grandmother did not intend for it to be that way, far from it in fact, she never wanted to do anything that would make Mati uncomfortable in her own home, she would understand though if Mati felt that way, she was indeed in the house that had been devoid of her and her famiyl for so long after all. The girl looked at the brushes and Soran's face was caught with a slight smile for a moment, she had indeed chosen well, she had known the girl would like them, perhaps they would go some way to helping patch up the cracks in their relationship, though they weren't really cracks anymore, if their relationship was a wall then it was almost levelled to the ground, the floor was strewn with the shattered bricks of their family bond, the plaster had long since flaked away and fallen off. But still, perhaps there was still a chance, redemption was always an option, nothing was without hope, although it could seem that way, nothing was irrepairable, not if the wolves involved were willing to put time and effort in, the ebony female herself was more than willing, she would give years of her life to fixing the damage she had caused, that had been caused by her blood and those she had adopted, it was just a waiting game to see if Mati would too, put some time into their relationship. If she was willing then there was indeed a chance, Soran so desperately wanted to explain to her what had happened, why she had left, she would explain as best she could and hope her answers were reasonable enough for Mati to begin to understand why her grandmother had left her, that sometimes there are things so dark, so undefeatable plauging and chasing someone that their only option is to run away, to fix themselves before they can begin to try and fix others.

And then Mati did the completely unexpected, she invited the ebony female into her room, the shock was evident on Soran's face, she had been anticipating a slammed door, a "get the hell away from here and never darken my doorstep again." So to be invited in was a bit of a shock to the dark female, she nodded to Mati, a smile reaching her lips for a moment, "Thank you very much." She said as she walked into the room, passing her granddaughter carefully, ensuring that she did not brush against her, that could ruin everything. She entered the room, looking around, smiling at the art on the walls and around the room, at the long desk and the paint splattered stools, this was a lovely room, it was lived in, it had personality, it had Mati's stamp all over it. It made the ebony female very happy to see it, it was wonderful to see that her granddaughter had managed to inject so much of her own personality into the room, she needed to do that with her own room, at the moment it was not decorated at all, although some objects added colour and flair to the plaing magnolia walls. She had filled a shelf with knick knacks and interesting items at least, her patterned stone and bead collection was growing nicely and she had pinned the letters from her children up on the walls as well. But still it was not her own yet, it did not feel like it yet, it needed some colour, some flair, Mati could help with that she was sure, her artistic granddaughter could at the very least lend her some paint, but she didn't dare ask her, not yet, that would be far too damaging to ask at this early stage, perhaps if she managed to build a bridge between the pair, then she might ask, but it was far too early for anything like that yet. The fae took the offer to sit down and perched herself neatly on the stool that was pointed at, she placed the paintbrushes onto the table and paused for a moment, smiling at the little hedgehog that was already on the table, she watched him for a moment, realising that he must be her granddaughter's pet, he was quite adorable if she was honest. The fae's ears perked up as Mati spoke, listening to what she asked, nodding slowly at her, she crossed one leg over the other and laced her fingers together, placing her hands on the table, this way she could not fiddle with her hair, which was something she did when she was nervous.
"You know why I am here Mati, I want to talk to you... to answer your questions, you deserve that and it's unfair that no-one has spoken to you about the things that have happened in the past." She explained, a look of confusion on her dark face. And then she realised what Mati had meant, she was still in shock over having been allowed into the room, her brain was not working at it's usual speed, Mati had meant what was she doing in the house, not what she was doing here right at this moment.
"Oh, I see what you mean, I apologise, I was confused, I am a member of the pack again, I am living in the house, not far from this room actually. I didn't mean to end up so close to you, it was a random choice of room, I hadn't even realised you were sleeping in the house." The fae said, hastily pointing out that she had not selected her room in an attempt to be close to Mati, she had genuinely not intended to choose a room so close, in fact had she known she would have probably have selected another room, or opted to sleep outside, just so that her granddaughter felt more comfortable.
"Right Mati, I believe you are owed many answers, I feel it's only right that you ask me what you wish to know. So go ahead, anything you can think of." The fae said, fixing her gaze on Mati, smiling at her weakly, she was still nervous, but she was determined to answer the questions that were long overdue their answers.

Th Church woman was a strong one. She had faced many challenges since her birth. The time when she was a pup had been wonderful, just as any pup deserved. But after she had come to her first year things only grew harder, rockier. She had found out about her father, had almost been raped, her mothers broke their mateship voes, her closest brother moved to live in the Court, her birth mother had hurt Cambria and disappeared from their lives all together. Then, she met Cambria in a different way, she had opened her eyes and her heart and she had discovered the one thing that made her life purposeful and complete was sitting in front of her all this time. Then life was right and she could move past all that had happened and forget those who hurt her because there was one single soul that made all the pain disappear.

She thought of her mate as the dark wolfess sat in front of her, wondered if she would understand this situation. Or if she would be just as confused emotionally as Mati was. The familiar voice rose, and Mati simply listened as she knew was best to do with the elder woman. Her eyes relieved the surprise she felt at the idea of Soran joining the pack, the constant reminder of Naniko and her father would be too painful. She didn't know if she could do it.

I don't have questions. She said, angered slightly at the idea that Soran would bring her this pain and thinking that she was helping in some way. I'm happy here, without thinking about Naniko or Conri. She gave a sigh, wishing that stating it simply would bring understanding to the ebony fey. I hadn't thought of my mother for many months before you came. I have another that watches out for me, and a mate who loves me. She paused for a moment then gave a question that she didn't think she needed to ask.

Am I the reason you joined the pack? Or is there someone else who you wanted to be close to?

WC: 1020

The ebony female watched her red granddaughter, it was so strange being so close to her now that she had grown. When she had been smaller it had been much easier for Soran to cope with her, before all the damage had been done they had had a good relationship, she knew that her grandmother had loved her, at least the ebony female hoped that she had. It had not been her fault that anything had happened, the ebony lady could not cope with the pressures of living so close to her family, it stirred too many memories for the sable lady, her eldest son asking her to end his life had been the final straw, the one thing to tip her over the edge. She had ended the life of her son before, he had been sick and she could not bear to watch him slip away as Maeve had done, it was easier to give him a quick death with no suffering, but of course it had been more than that, she had done it because of him looking too much like the perfect combination of both his mother and father, he was too much of a reminder of the horrible rape that had taken place, the fact that he had been sick was the only thing that had made her kill him, deciding it was for the best, but she was not sure that if he had survived that she could have loved him the way she had done her other children, she may have shunned him, perhaps then it was indeed better that he was dead, it would have been so damaging to have a mother who did not love him. Conri asking her in a moment of severe remorse to kill him had brought those memories flooding back, she had managed to stifle the mories, blocking them entriely from her mind, but once they floodgates had been opened there had been no turning back, she could not cope with being in the packlands, seeing her grandchildren, she had not deserved them. And so she had left to mourn to find some forgiveness, some balance within herself, finally she had achieved this, although it had taken her last litter of puppies to allow that to happen, she had been a good mother to them, the mother she should have been to all of her pups. Finally she had felt that she was able to come home, though coming back here, entering into a world that was so tattered and torn was difficult. But she was stronger now, she could cope, make amends, make sure her family would remember her as being kind and thoughtful, not like her broken red son or her addict pale daughter.

She listened as Mati spoke, saying that she did not have questions, this was difficult for Soran, for she had answers, she had explanations, she wanted to share them with her granddaughter, the reddish brown girl may not have felt like she needed closure, but Soran was sure that she did need the answers, once could not bury the past, she had learnt this the hard way, eventually it would catch up with you and eat you from inside. Again Mati spoke, speaking of her parent's by using their own names, it was sad for the fae to hear, but she understood, they did not deserve the titles of mother and father, her father had betrayed her mother in terrible, unspeakable ways and then in turn her mother had betrayed her children, allowing the poison she was putting into her body to become far more important than them. That was an addict's mind though unfortunately, Soran would probably knew it beter than most, she too had been an addict, but she had chosen her family in the end, she had chosen life. It was a good descision in her eyes, she just wished that Naniko would see sense in the end as well, although the damage she had already done may never be repaired properly. But for her own sake, for her youngest children's sake she needed to get clean, she needed to make something better for herself, being a drug addict hurt others and mostly it hurt oneself, she didn't want her pale daughter to die. She nodded as Mati spoke of her mate and Anu who had done such a good job of taking care of her. It was good to know that she had those who loved her and wanted her to be well looked after, at least Soran had put her trust in one right wolf, Anu had done a fine job of raising her grandchildren.
"I understand Mati, I did not mean to come here and stir up painful memories for you, I know now what your mother... what Naniko has done, I understand how much she must have hurt you, betrayed you. I am so sorry that I was not here to provide some sort of comfort for you. I am glad that you have found someone who loves you, there is no greater gift in this life than love Mati. And I am glad that Anu has looked after you, I must say I am in her debt, she has done a fine job of raising you and your brother." The fae said, again she tried to keep her tone steady, although her voice shook a little with nerves, just as her clasped hands were doing. She watched the ebony fae as she asked why she had come here, the fae sighed, looking into her granddaughter's eyes.
"I came to stay here because this used to be my home, I have told my children many stories of this place, it would be the first place that they would come looking for me. I missed these lands, it just felt right to come back here. You being here was an added bonus of course, I cannot deny that, but I have many old friends here. People that I care for. Including you." Soran replied, hoping that her explanation was suitable for her reddish brown granddaughter.

Mati look down at the table as she spoke. It was hard to look her in the eye, and though the Church woman was strong... She held weaknesses. She could not study the dark featured woman as her artistic eye always did while she spoke. The memories were touching her heart like shards of broken glass, but Mati appreciated that Soran understood the pain that came with remembering. But there was so much guilt in the Aatte female's words and tone. Mati didn't truly understand why she felt her obligation had been to she and her siblings, for the bronze woman had forgotten her grandmother and never hated her for being absent.

Glancing upwards Mati waited until she had explained herself and why she had come here before bringing her voice back into the conversation. There won't be any resentment between us. Mati gave with a hint of a smile, it was the best bit of forgiveness that she could come by. Mati had never been the best at forgiving and forgetting, and she hadn't been able to forgive Naniko or her father for their actions. She was relieved that there was more then just she and the guilt that Soran felt that kept the older woman in the Dreaming pack. It was a bit selfish but Mati didn't want to be the reason she came or went. Who else do you know here? She asked, trying to turn the conversation onto something that did not involve Mati or those painful memories.

OOC stuff Smile

The sable female was still trembling, the nerves were getting the better of her, her hands visibly shaking as she sat across from the bronze girl. Her granddaughter was so far from the little ball of reddish brown fur with four legs sticking out. She had grown so much, she was a fully grown woman now, she had her own life here, her own home, a lover, family, Soran worried momentarily that she had spoilt this for her by coming back, perhaps some things were better left in the past, but every time she thought of the young girl her heart ached, she needed some kind of connection with her, even if it was not the familial bond that she had hoped for, she hoped that they would form something that was far less rocky than it was at the moment. The Aatte woman had been hoping to come back to a happy family, when she had left Anu and Naniko had formed a stable family for the pups, but that had all been torn apart, two of her grandchildren were missing, this knowledge still made her heart ache, and the other two were not speaking to their mother, nor did they have any knowledge of where there father was. It made the sable female sad that history repeated itself, she herself had lost her mother, the female being murdered by Soran's father when she was small, then her father had hunted her across the country until he finally died, then she herself had never managed to be a very present mother to her younger children, their father missing as well, it seemed the cycle of the Aatte family, though there was hope of course, Haven seemed to be a very present father in his pup's lives and here Mati had made ties, perhaps in time she would have a family of her own, perhaps adopt some pups with the young Marino girl, or perhaps find a male that could sire some pups for them. Soran was certain that she would be a good mother, just as Haven was a good father, yes it seemed that this generation would finally be able to do what their parents and grandparents had failed at. Yes there was still some hope for her family line, with her grandchildren and her youngest litter of pups, they had too never had a father, but they had had two mothers and had always known that they were loved, perhaps they too would prove to be good parents when given the chance. Oh how Soran wished that she had not returned to such a broken and torn family, how she wished that she had been here to prevent all the wrongs from happening, perhaps then Conri would have never attacked Naniko, perhaps Naniko would never have turned to the drugs, and the whole family would be here together, residing under the same roof. This idea was of course fanciful, there was not much that the ebony female could have done to prevent what had happened, it was simply a means to torture herself with guilt, she pushed it away from her mind, watching the bronze female as she began to speak.

What she said warmed her heart more than Mati could have known, her jade eyes, if they could, would have filled with tears of joy at that very moment. She gazed at her granddaughter like a man who had lost his faith would gaze at a miracle, the hope that radiated within her body could not be denied. She managed a smile then, beaming at her bronze granddaughter.
Oh Mati, oh little one... You do not know what that means to me. To know that there is no hostility between us, it means so much. I have missed you you know, I have missed all of you so much. The female said, her voice cracking a little, almost sobbing with relief and joy that perhaps something could be salvaged from the burned fragments of her relationship with her family. She smiled at the female, her ears swivelling to catch her voice as she spoke again, she was asking who else she knew in the pack, the sable female knew this sort of tactic well, manouvering the conversation away from the subjects that were too painful, this was alright with the green eyed lady, perhaps it would be easier to have something more of a light hearted conversation before tackling the more difficult issues in the pair's life.
Do you know a female named Deuce? She was one of my greatest friends, my former mate in fact, she was last known to be living here, I had hoped to find her here, but alas I have not. Other than that I know Savina, Anu and Jazper of course... There are many around the lands that I have known in the past, or I have known their parents, I have found that, meeting many of Deuce's children in these lands. The female replied, smiling at her red granddaughter as she did so, watching her, trying to gague her reaction to this, especially as she had revealed something of a delicate nature, that she had been mated to Deuce, though she felt the bronze furred girl would understand, she herself was mated to another female after all.
Tell me, what made you chose to stay here? Not that I am criticising, I just wondered why you had not chosen to wander like your siblings seem to have done. The lady asked, watching the girl carefully, it was rather awe inspiring to be near her, to see her little granddaughter so grown up.

It was in all of them, those wolves that were followers of an alpha, to want to please. It was instinctual and basic but the Church woman had been taught to follow those feelings. And so, when the dark wolfess replied so much appreciation she felt that need and want fulfilled. Even if only slightly. She smiled softly, Soran's response filling the place in her mind where the bad memories. She wondered how someone she didn't remember, or even really know, could miss her as vividly as Soran did. But, she imagined that if she had left children she would miss them even if they hadn't truly gotten to know one another. It was possible, for someone with a heart.

Mati shook her head as she replied, I have never known her. Deuce was one name that Mati had never heard. Soran's memory must go back many, many years. Moments that she did not wish to forget. They must be glad to have you home. Mati spoke with a small smile. With so many friends she could see that Soran was quite comfortable back in the Dreaming lands.

With her question the bronze female did not hesitate to find her answer, At first it was for my mother, Anu. But then Cambria and I feel in love, and became mates. Now I stay for her. Her tone had broken from its hardness as she thought of her mate. It seemed that mating a fellow female ran in the family, further then just her own mothers. But her Grandmother as well. Though I have never wished to go anywhere, I have always felt safest here. She added.

I appear to have rambled again lol.

The sable female could not help but stare at her bronze granddaughter, she knew that she had been since the beginning of their conversation, but now she could not help but stare at her with renewed awe, it was wonderful that she was willing for there to be no hostility between the two, she had missed her so much, even though she had been away her life here had always been in her mind; there had been many a night where Soran had lain awake thinking back on her family that she had left behind, all of them her children and grandchildren alike. And now she had returned to find that she was now a great grandmother and that once again the wanderlust that seemed to course through her blood had been passed on to her family, they had scattered away from these lands, perhaps never to return, though the hope that she would once again see her alabaster granddaughter, her sable grandson and all of her children again would not die within the jade eyed lady, she wanted more than ever for them to all be together. She wanted to be the matriarch of a grand family, the truth was that she was, that she always would be, the family was still family despite the fueds and the lack of their presence within the lands just at the moment. Having given birth to seven children meant that Soran would always have plenty of family scattered about the place, it was perhaps just silly to think that they would all stay in the same place, after all human families did not all live together, children moved away to other cities, sometimes even other countries, why would her own kind not be the same? Soran listened as the bronze girl spoke, it saddened her a little that Mati had never met Deuce, this meant that her pale love had been gone for a much longer time than the sable female had thought; the truth of the matter was that Deuce would always hold Soran's heart, the pair of them had been star crossed lovers, never really managing to stay together for a long time, but always seeming to love one another just as they always had done whenever they found one another again, perhaps the pale female might turn up one day, she had a habit of appearing out of the blue to the dark female. Soran nodded as the younger female said that the others must be happy to have her back, she thought so, at least she hoped so, the reception she had recieved from Jazper and Taliesin and even Savina had been warm and inviting, it was speaking to these wolves that had made her realise how much she had missed being a member of Crimson Dreams, what had driven her to come back to the pack, although she also thought that if her youngest children were ever to come here then they would come here first, Soran had always spoken very warmly of this pack when they asked her about her old home, once they realised that she had not always lived in the pack that they were born into.
They seem to be happy to see me and I must say I have been very glad to see them, you would be too young to remember, but there was a terrible fire a few years back, before you were born I believe, I lost so many old friends then, I was scared that I would return to find them all gone again. But here they were, it was wonderful to see them all again, it was that that made me come back to Crimson Dreams, seeing them all be so welcoming towards me, I missed it here. Besides if any of your aunts or uncles chose to come and find me, this would be the first place they looked. The sable female replied, mentioning Mati's aunts and uncles cautiously, hoping not to upset her once again.

Mati then explained her reasons for staying, she responded to the question quickly, seeming so sure of herself, this made Soran smile, she was glad that at least two of her grandchildren had found safe, stable homes where they truly felt happy. The female did not flinch or shy away from the mention of Anu being Mati's mother, she had accpeted this when Naniko had taken her as a mate, the fact that Conri was the pup's biological father was still important to Soran, but he did not deserve them, not after what he had done, although it pained the sable female not to have her first born near to her, they had been so close when he was young, she knew that it was for the best, he had committed crimes that were unforgivable, especially as he had seen the pain that his own mother had felt after a similar attack on herself, the attack that had led to Khaden and Dhalia being born. The female smiled at the mention of Cambria, that would be Savina's daughter, she already knew that Mati had taken her as a mate, Savina had told her this when the sable lady had rejoined the pack, in fact Savina had been the one to fill her in on some of the important issues that had happened since she had been away. Soran also happened to know that Cambria was a healer, Jazper having given her that small piece of information.
I knew that you had taken Cambria as a mate, Savina told me when I last saw her, we shared a little joke over being inlaws now. I am so glad that you have found happiness here, I am sure that she must be a special female to have gained your heart, I am very much looking forward to meeting her. Soran replied with a warm smile, she genuinely meant it, she wanted to see this female that had captured her bronze granddaughter's heart, she wanted to make sure that Mati would be happy forever, she wanted what was best for her, all of the important things in life, happiness, love, a warm bed and a full stomach, these were the things that truly mattered. She nodded again as Mati said that she had always felt that the pack was her home.
It is wonderful to feel that way about a place, that was how I had always felt about Syemv, do you know anything of Syemv at all? When it was destroyed I was heart broken, this place is starting to feel the same to me though, the lands and I will always be connected I suppose. The female spoke with warmth and genuine affection about the place that she had formerly lived.
