Axelle was beginning to doze off on her stone table, not realizing the change of scent as the familiar brute barged into her room. She did catch scents when others passed by in the halls, so she didn’t think anything of it. When he began to speak, Axelle jumped up and almost fell back off the chair. She caught herself last minute by grabbing the table, and recovered from the incident for about three seconds. Then she swiveled around on the stool with a worn out expression on her features.

It took her a second to register the face. Midnight fur, yellow eyes, who was this? Then it all came back to her like someone punched her in the maw. ”Itzal!” She jumped up from the chair, and dove on top of him onto the bed, giving him a hug that he probably wouldn’t have been able to escape. The kitten was awake now for sure. When she was finished with the hug, she sat up, still sitting on top of him. ”Where have you been? How are you?” She was holding his arms, not noticing she was doing so.

She was still aware of their last encounter, but kept it behind her. She didn’t want to bring up her weird obsession with reactions, so she acted like nothing like that had ever happened. She realized she was sitting on his pelvis, and immediately became embarrassed as that was not what she was intending to do. ”Sorry,” she said quietly as she climbed off of him. She sat next to him on her make-shift bed, looking at the ball of fluff now yawning and stretching. ”Yeah, I can speak to him and no he’s not lunch. Yet.” She continued to look at the gray tabby as he repositioned himself and went back to sleeping, not saying one word. Then Axelle turned her gaze back to her old friend, ”Found him in Halifax. Poor thing was abandoned in a trash can, so I brought him home.”
