When the black- furred coyote turned, he turned just in time to see Carrion's staff spinning down to strike at his wrist, knocking his paw from the bottle, which rocked back and forth before settling back into the fork of the tree. He spun the staff to slip towards Helotes' ribs and push him out of the way, placing the scarred, bone-laden coyote between Helotes and the tree. Did you really think it would be that easy? He said with a grin, twirling the staff in his fingers, then planting the weighted end in the sand. He hadn't actually hurt Helotes in smacking his hand, but it was sure to smart.
