Her littler sister collected together the crimson-stained beads and Caprica observed appreciatively. She did love the deep colour she was able to get by mixing and sieving the red clay under the earth on the forest outskirts, and the beads were dipped in pine lacquer so the strong hue would never wash off. As Rio picked them out, the craftswoman took each one and threaded it onto the malleable thong, small to suit Rio's wrists. She chose larger ones interspersed with smaller, creating a rippling wave effect, and mixed in a few jet-black drilled stones, tiny pieces of black jade, to set off the strong red colours even more strikingly. This kept her hands occupied while her sister spoke - the words held her full attention of her mind, however. Apart from the coyotes, her story matched Caprica's somewhat. And who knew, maybe Caprica had found some coyotes of her own, although probably not. She would have at least remembered a moment of their company, surely, if she had. The other part that differed was the name of Salsola. Caprica had been meaning for a while now to start to figure out the politics of the claimed lands, as another way to escape her loner mentality. Salsola was a name she knew, but no solid facts came to mind. "Whoa, they tried to eat you? Did'ja meet a renegade psycho or is the whole pack screwed up? Some of those guys used to live here, y'know," she informed her sister, her eyes full of concern for Rio's hardships. She couldn't help feeling closer to her sister, although these days they were almost strangers, for the simple fact they'd both been through the mill since their mother had left them. Now they'd found her again, and Caprica didn't place any blame on that white head. Naniko was a tough mom, but she was also one who tried her best and she instilled her own strength in her progeny, which was in Caprica's mind a heroic and unselfish way to raise children and she supposed she wouldn't have her mother any other way.
