visiting Big Grin ummm dated for today. meaning she arrived at about 2 a.m. last night. / +5!

The stories of war between AniWaya and the other southern packs had filtered through to Dixie’s ears over time. Jazper and Anann spoke of it sparingly, and the young girl soaked the information up, wanting to know as much as possible. The thought of all of those who could be and who were for sure hurt by the war struck her heart. Surely the pack of AniWaya, who were now regrouping and healing, needed some kind of help…allies. Of course reaching out to others would mostly be the leaders’ job’s, at least that’s what she thought…however, she really wanted to help out in some way. And so she was going to, no matter what anyone said.

Wayne was getting better, the large gash on his stomach was healing slowly and no infection had caught. Thankfully she knew enough of medical things to doctor him properly, not perfectly, but enough at the time. Along with visiting the other packs, she vowed to learn more about medicine and surgery, anything to help her pack mates. After feeding her companion and storing food and water in their bedroom for him, she gave him a kiss on the head and left. She took a cloak, a pouch of food, two pretty leather and red weed baskets, and her saddle.

Anann was told, briefly, that she was going to visit another pack, and then headed to the small “downtown” area in the fort. There were a few shops that weren’t dilapidated so bad, and she rummaged through each of them, collecting interesting little trinkets that she knew would be of no use to the pack. About an hour or so passed before she found anything of value. All of her searching had finally paid off. There was a back room in one of the shops, full of cloth bolts, all different colors and with weird patterns. Dixie took only the ones that she could carry, two bolts half wrapped (about 35 feet of cloth), red and green. Hopefully the leader of AniWaya would appreciate the cloth…and if not, at least she tried, right?

After evacuating the small shop area, she howled softly and waited for Duke to come running. The saddle was cinched to his body quickly, along with the baskets and cloth all roped up on him as well. Dixie swung herself up and dug her heels into his sides gently, telling him that she wanted to go. The stallion whinnied loudly and bucked a few times before shoving off with his back hooves. The little woman loved this feeling, being atop a horse’s back when they let loose and just ran for the fun of it. Within a few minutes they were exiting the fort, dashing through the opened gates and taking off into the distance, southward bound.

Traveling all day and most of the night, with only a few breaks to let Duke drink, eat and rest, was wearing on the both of them. Dixie really wanted to get to AniWaya though, and wasn’t keen on sleeping out in unclaimed land all alone. She had passed another one of the packs on her way, presumably one of those who participated in the war. The scent of their borders made sure that she went around, even though it would have been faster to cut through at least the southern edge of the territory. Her goal wasn’t to offend anyone on this trip, so she was determined to do things the right way.

Finally she began to smell more than just salt from the ocean and the surrounding foliage. Duke was so tired, his steps slowing to a creeping walk. Dixie yawned widely and stopped him, sliding down to the ground and holding onto the reins, as if he might run away in this condition. When the scents of other canines got so strong that she was sure they were right on the border, she threw her head back and howled as loud as her tired body would allow. Hopefully someone would hear and came get them quickly, for the girl and her steed were about to collapse from exhaustion.
