The Triarii didn’t want her mansion’s floors to be fouled by reeking guts and their spilling juices. The jagged lines of the Lykoi’s teeth were visible as she entered the reeking room where equally reeking rats were stuffed in solid cages.
”You should butcher the wolf outside,” the older woman suggested in an overbearing tone, serving it cool along with a grimace of fleeting disgust. But that was what had to say about that. Crouching beside the metal prison, she teased hungry, angry rodent snouts with playful fingertips. They would have loved to tear at her sensitivefingers, had she only allowed them to.
