It's A New Life

Back-dated to Jan 25th. Augustus requested being the second post in this thread because he wants to be around when Blind joins, if that’s alright Smile And she’s in lupus form.

Blind’s heart pounded in her dark chest as she traversed the short spread of mountains that her dear playmate had explained would take her to New Dawn territory. It had been so long it seemed since she’d stumbled across Crimson Dream’s borders after a feeble attempt to join, befriended immediately by the dark wolfess who was supposed to be living here now. So much had changed since then; between her loved ones and her own appearance and emotions, it was like her world had been turned upside-down. A puff of breath shot up from her dark lips to the grown out patch of blond on her forehead - if she tried to cut it off now, she’d have her typical auburn waves left, only in a modified form, a sort of crop like her friend Vesper’s. She froze mid-step then, offering a brief glance over her shoulder – she knew she’d passed Inferni quite some time ago, and it was the hardest thing to press forward without stopping at the borders to call for her. With a shake of her head, she moved forward, determined to do just as the scarred coywolf had suggested: she was going to live her life to her full potential, and find a place for herself. She believed now that leaving Crimson Dreams was necessary in order to truly find herself, for she had been far too shy and naïve then to be of any use to the pack. If she was accepted by this new pack, she would do all in her power to earn her place among them and be loyal to them. After all, she had loved ones there already, so feeling alone would be much harder now than it had been then.

A quick sniff of the ground told Blind that she was finally there, the picture of four-leggeds frolicking and hunting together dancing across her mind’s eye. Her tail swayed a bit, and her bi-colored eyes searched briefly for her salt-and-pepper Casanova; she wished he could be here to support her. But she knew, too, that he would have duties to attend to, just as Soran probably did. Oh, Soran…the more Blind thought about her foster mother, the more she chided herself for leaving the sable woman’s side. Soran had been so kind to her, and Blind had left her without hardly saying good-bye. Indeed, the more Blind thought about it, it pained her, and she wondered what had spurred her decision to leave in the first place. But no, Fate had decided for her, and so here she stood, a loner again about to join another pack.

The dark wolfess lifted her head, prepared to howl, but she lowered it again as fear crept over her. What if she truly didn’t fit in with the wolves of New Dawn? What if Augustus grew tired of her, and what if Soran reacted just as Vesper had to her leave? She felt herself drowning in the darkness of self-doubt and loneliness, a frantic foot rising to claw at the blond tuft on her forehead out of sheer nervousness. Her breathing increased until it was a full pant, and her dark frame shook in the chill of the early-evening wind. But then, she stopped. Determined to shut out her childish ways once again, Blind straightened up with as much confidence as she could muster and allowed her blue and gold eyes to travel past the borders to inspect her potential home, while her thick paws stayed rooted to the spot. She scoffed then, realizing that she no longer needed to worry about cutting her blond locks off because she had just clawed them off. You and I are more alike than you think, Vessie, she said lightly, shaking her head free of any clinging hair. But this was her, dark-chocolate from head to toe with heterochromatic eyes and a slight limp. She wasn’t that blond fool who had spent too many nights chatting aimlessly with a wolf she’d hardly known. She was Blind, daughter of Rhia and Limp, and perhaps a sister to others that she hadn’t known. She was a mess emotionally, but strong deep down and determined to please those around her, even if she ended up dying alone. Tail erect, Blind threw her head back and let out a loud, almost musical howl, her tone speaking of her loneliness as well as portraying the growth that she had experienced since the last time she’d come calling at pack borders. And then she waited, her posture much more confident than it had been and also capable of dropping into submission at the sight of another. She would please this pack, or she would forever be a content wanderer.
