Aww he’s so sad to leave her.

The licks that touched Ceri’s head once the fae was out of the water and near him tugged a handful of happy whimpers from his throat and sent his tail wagging. He closed his eyes, memorizing the feel of her tongue before she eventually pulled away. He sat up, snuggling into the young wolf as she spoke, and he smiled weakly as he rested his head atop hers. I’m going to teach you what it looks like for someone to dread letting you go, he said, closing his eyes once again as he nestled into her. He knew he couldn’t stay here long; eventually he’d have to walk Ciara to that patch of trees behind them and say goodbye. But he could at least carry on with the hope of seeing her again.

He memorized everything about the girl in those moments they sat together, from her scent to her touch to her looks. He even repeated her name several times in his head just to make sure it was engraved on his brain. But eventually Cerberus reluctantly licked the girl’s ears, his tail no longer wagging as he glanced over in the direction of New Dawn borders. How could he be so hesitant to let go of someone he’d just met? No, he knew how – this girl was special, and she now held a place in his heart. Slowly rising to his feet, Cerberus stole one more lick from Ciara’s snout before saying in a near-whisper, We should get you home princess. It’s getting late. After nuzzling up against the girl for a brief moment, Cerberus stood stone-still, his body pointed toward her home as the light in his eyes slowly dissipated. A single thought passed through his mind then, reigniting some of the searing pain he felt when his brother had died: He was going to be alone again when she left.
