Do you remember me?

Of course. :]

Suddenly she found herself on the receiving end of an incredibly heartfelt hug. The Marino woman tensed at the touch of her sister, throwing a startled glance over the dark woman’s shoulder to Renato. The fisherman did nothing but grin at her in response, watching the pair with clear amusement. There was a smugness there in that grin of his as well, and Lucia knew that he must be inwardly patting himself on the back for being right about coming all the way out here. And damn it all, the feel of her sibling’s arms around her and the familiar scent that sent her reeling back to childhood days did seem to have a relaxing effect on her. But before she could properly respond to the gesture, her sister relinquished her tight hold on her and stepped back.

Mom and Caprica. So they were here. Did they all just decide to show up when it was convenient? Done with whatever journey they had cavorted off to in the first place, were they? Lucia felt that familiar agitation stirring within her once again. She was beginning to realize that she had been hoping that she wouldn’t find any of them here for more than just a desire to avoid seeing them again. If they had all come back and fallen into things as if they had never been away, if they were all together, living life as an insufferably happy family unit, she didn’t know if she would be able to take it. Because it would mean that they didn’t need her. They probably never had.

And from the sound of things, that could very well be what had happened. Jade eyes studied Rio once more as Lucia tried to summon up an answer to her question without snapping at her in response.

“Away,” she finally said, a short and clipped response. Her resolve to remain stubborn faltered somewhat as she stared into her sister’s periwinkle gaze. Rio, at least, deserved better than that. Lucia sighed and began to elaborate, fiddling with the strap of her guitar case. “I went across the ocean.” The Marino-D’Angelo litter had been raised on their father’s stories of his life in Europe, and now Lucia had experienced it for herself. And counting down the days until I return.
