Pain Medication
#6
Ohh, sorry! I'll edit now. And Caspa wouldn't have poured the entire vial out

She really owned very little, but the poppy juice was her most valuable item - except maybe the snake venom. Mixed with alcohols, she'd made a sort of laudanum. This was her version of medicine: it removed pain and misery. Of course, Malachi had warned her about the addictive nature of it, and so Caspa indulged very rarely. She had an iron will, but she knew that it was easy to fall into the euphoric trap: she'd seen it back at home. So, she would not tell Terra the whole story.

"It helps with pain," she explained. "Just two drops, no more than twice a day. It is lethal in large doses." Her explanation utterly missing the stage of bliss and opiate-induced high that came first. "I'll make sure you get it until the worst of the pain is over." She moved back slowly, watching Terra with hawk-like eyes for signs of relief, or signs of her rushing back to attack her own wound. She would grab her again if she had to, but for now the coyote-wolf was free. "So was this another trick gone wrong?" Caspa asked, a faint tang of dry humour in her voice although it cracked with concern. She didn't want her friend to be crippled, or get a dangerous infection. This was no laughing matter.
