The door exploded, Hadley startled half to death. Arms wrapped tightly around him, and his heart was sent racing. The monster had arrived. He was unable to save Isa. He couldn't even save himself, arms threatening to choke him to death. If Hadley had been calmer he would have realized it was just Isa herself, frightened by the noise wrapping around him, clinging out of fear. Gently he stroked her, trying to stay strong for the poor wolf.
The entire time he was being yelled at, his body shaking like a leaf. His eyes dropped to the ground, ears pasted to his skull and tail curled under so tightly one couldn't tell he had one. Orders. He was being given orders. Told to leave Isa Hadley firmly shook his head. He wouldn't leave her, feeling the need to protect the wolf, even if he hadn't known her long. Asked to get water Hadley nodded gently. He looked to Isa helplessly, wondering how he would move with her attached to him. He could pick the girl up and carry her with him, but he didn't think Shadowfang would like that.
