Hadley seemed to calm down as she drank the water. She was happy for that, she didn’t like seeing him so worried. Hadley still seemed to be terrified even after the dark man’s little speech. Perhaps he was a killer. Either way, Isa would keep her guard up around him for a while. She felt Hadley’s hand stoke her hair and brush it from her eyes. The movement revealed the three old scars very near her right eye where she had almost been blinded. She kept her hair covering that side specifically so others could not see the scars.
He handed Isa the meat the other man had gotten for her and watched over her. Isa took a bite and as soon as she tasted it she realized just how hungry she was. She quickly gobbled down the food and looked up at Hadley. ”What happened before I came here?” She had no idea and was a little worried. Before he could answer, she cuddled up to him once more and nuzzled his neck. ”Thank you Hadley. And thank you stranger.” The last bit she said a little louder so he could hear her from outside. Isa kissed his cheek affectionately and buried her face into his chest.
