Yours and Mine

The smell of food had wafted tantalizingly in to the beasts' nose and, unknowingly, his well muscled legs moved of their own accord, sauntering up the cold path toward his goal. It smelt fresh and his stomach growled loudly, as though urging him forward to get a decent meal.

But, as usual, the world around was met with his wary gaze, blazing fiery eyes dimmed in to slits like beacons hidden beneath coarse, dark grey fur, enhancing the mystery that hung around him ten-fold. Tentative steps never wavered as flesh and sinew worked together in an harmonious tune, creating the most quiet killer within a three mile radius.

Abruptly, he stopped, freezing as though he were suddenly made of stone. He stared round, nose high in the air and sniffing for the smell of flesh. It was growing stronger with every pace he took up this slope. And to add to this delicious smell was the scenery- it was just amazing.

Rancor never like to pay attention to detail much, but he doubted anyone could whilst they were up here. A sloping valley, such as he had never seen before was spread out before him in a rolling landscape. It was impressive and somewhat soothing to watch at the same time. His pinpoint eyesight could just see, if he squinted, the ruins of buildings in the distance. It was as if nature was taking its land back.

Still, he proceeded on until another scent beside fresh meat hit his nose - other wolves. Cautiously, he stopped, long ears twitching for the sounds of an attack. Both intelligence and power arose from his Secui form, giving him a bashed up mixture of instincts to run and the curiosity to carry on.

The curiosity won, apparently.

Slowly, as if every step would mean his fall to death, he peered out through the greenery, eyes narrowed in to slits once again. The sight that met him was not one he had been expecting though. Instead of many, there were only two wolves, one that seemed to be prancing around and the other seemed to have just got there himself.

Without really realizing it, he stepped forward again, purposely making his tail whip against a bush behind him. He wanted to see if he was to be chased away or welcomed.
