Wishes were rarely answered but unspoken ones tended to be ignored even more. Despite Neela’s hopes that nobody had noticed her nervousness her alpha had caught on fairly quickly it seemed. Neela was occupied with paying at little attention as possible to the crowd so she didn’t notice his massive, black form approaching and her attention was caught by a particularly loud wolf off to the side when he left the crowd so Neela jumped in surprise when a hand almost as large as her head descended to rest on her shoulder, head whipping round to see who had touched her and nearly dropping her whiskey flask in the process.
Neela calmed when she saw that it was Jazper, bowing her head down deeply as both a sign of submission and an attempt to hide the fading shock still visible on her face. Jazper’s voice was calming but his words certainly weren’t and Neela stared dumbly at the offered hand for a few seconds; dancing was the last thing that Neela wanted to do at the moment, leaving would be more to her tastes, but Jazper’s words hadn’t been phrased as a question and she had no good reason to disobey him. Storing her whiskey safely in a pocket sown inside her dress Neela tentatively took his hand and allowed herself to be drawn out into a dance, though Neela’s own actions were often interrupted as the collie violently jerked away from anybody who ventured too close to her.
Neela’s ears remained firmly plastered against her head the entire dance, the timidness that she had felt all evening had firmly ingrained itself into her head and didn’t want to let up. Jazper had been gentle upon approaching her but surely the fact that he had needed to do so as all meant she was causing a problem; perhaps one of the Artisans had noticed her behaviour and become offended of something. ”I’m sorry.” she said quietly, her eyes fixed on Jazper’s chest well away from his own, tail tucked between her legs automatically despite it not even being visible at the moment.
