Alder was good. She would have never gotten the horse to calm himself so quickly as he did. Axelle watched him quickly rope the horse, without much protest coming from the stallion. She fell silent and watched as the dire moment came – but nothing. The horse didn’t try to flee or attack them. He simply stood there looking between the two. As Alder encouraged her to go take his rusted bridle off, Axelle hesitated. She took a deep breath to relax her nerves and carefully walked over to the beast, all the while sending him calming low speech messages.
Her hands carefully worked on the warn straps of the bridle, and in a few seconds she pulled it off of his face. There were lines from the evil contraption imprinted in the fur on his face. Axelle tried to pet some of it away, but none of it budged. A good bath and brushing would clear that up, hopefully. ”There… Now you won’t have to suck on rust anymore…” She knew the horse wouldn’t be able to understand her, but the tone of her voice should have been calming enough. The bridle hung loosely in her other hand and she threw it on the ground to her side. The large horse whinnied in appreciation and thankfully didn’t try to run from them anymore.
The animal seemed to calm down a lot since the bridle was removed from his mouth. He just stood there while Axelle gave his nose love. He snorted here and there, but otherwise didn’t do anything hostile. Axelle turned to Alder and gave him a big smile. ”You’re a genius. What would I have done without you?” Though, it wasn’t over yet. Somehow she was going to get him to come home with her. Hopefully, it would be easier now than before.
