Outstretched hands

Hoping to run into Saul again, Torok went back up north. He went through the town called Amherst and continued on, having not run into the man yet. Perhaps he could just continue on, see who he would run into. Fraya flew ahead of him and quickly returned, landing on his shoulder and chattering on about a young colt not too far ahead that was either hurt or very sick. He moved slowly, not wanting to frighten the young horse. It didn’t move as he approached but simply whinnied, calling for it’s mother, who seemed to be long gone. Perhaps she left or something happened to her, anything was possible. Torok reached a hand out calmly, attempting to show the colt that he wouldn’t be harmed.

Torok gently ran his hands across the foals body, trying to find the reason why he wouldn’t move. Feeling the colts ribs, Torok realized he was rather thin, possibly close to starving. His hands moved down to his legs and felt a small break in the front left leg. It was lucky that Torok had made some leather strips that would work to make a splint for the young horse. He stood and gathered a couple pieces of wood and placed them on either side of the colts leg and tied them in place with the strips. There you go little one, that feels better doesn’t it? He would still have difficulty walking for a little while. Perhaps Torok could care for him and keep him as a companion. Helping the colt stand, Torok led him a few steps, letting him get used to the splint and helping him learn to not put as much pressure on his left leg while it healed.
