X'ies would fail to be broken by the gaze of his leader. As always his eyes remained as they were, fogged by the uncertain thoughts that lay behind them. He had no doubt that by now X'yrin had began to identify that he was not acting within the parameters of any typical subordinate. It was why the Lambda were always isolationists within the pack as a whole. The role of the Shepard shifted easily between family to family, and when the role did not land upon the head of one of their blood, the issue of insubordination was prime should any order be directly received from those outside the direct Lambda descent. It was simply that his family viewed themselves as dominant, their minds placed in higher regard than the Exultare's courage, or the Marek's guile.

He would follow her orders, but only because she displayed at least a mind partially capable of unravel ling the complex thoughts and actions that made up his mind. She was intelligent, even if she was a fool. Jaden on the other hand, well the man had proven himself a suitable asset to the pack as far as defense and a friendly face went. And perhaps that was sometimes needed within the pack. But what he lacked was the mindset of the Alpha. He demanded all the respect, expected all of the power. But displayed no reason for either to be showered upon him. He had not earned the role. X'yrin had allowed him to walk into it. " Just as she walked into his arms". A bitter thought, broken by the screeching of a bird. And the appearance of a figurehead from this other pack.

Immediately the greeting reminded X'ies of another pack meeting. The one with Inferni, the woman who had greeted them there had used a vastly similar method of introduction. A base down to the point attitude that was not quite rude, but direct. It did not necessitate introductions, only the reason for them being here. However his leader deemed it necessary for them to both be introduced. He had no previous knowledge of this pack, however he would keep his mind open to other signs. Interestingly enough though it seemed to him that X'yrin had prior knowledge of this packs leader. Perhaps that was another story to tell.
