the way your innocence tastes

It was the familiar scent that caused the harsh pounding of the girl's heart in her chest. It was a scent that she knew all to well, one from the past, and one that had struck fear in her heart at one point in time. Rachias has been convinced that Andre had perished in the fire also, or that he had run off to start some other life somewhere else, and she'd thought nothing more of it since then. Now though, it seemed all to real and far to close for her own liking. Pulling herself away from one of the nearby trees, Rachias slunk her way forward, keeping close to whatever cover that she could find, abandoning her task of gathering wood. Just ahead of her, quite a few feet away, the grass slowly faded to sand, and that was where she spotted him.

The chocolaty girl held herself close to a tree, hands and body pressed up against it, peeking around at the sight that played out before her eyes. He was there with Talitha, but before she could discern anything else, there was Gabriel. He came shooting out, it seemed, to interfere with what might have been going on. Rachias would have gone out to see what was happening, to take Talitha away from there because she knew that Andre was no good, but then there they were. Faolin, Corona, Gabriel, and even someone that she didn't know. She knew in that moment, as she gazed across the group of them, that Andre would not come out alive.

Would she stay and watch her brother's death or throw herself into the fray on his behalf? He was her brother, after all, and she had already lost one of them.
