_____With a full belly of food, Tawodi had fled Phoenix Valley with one task accomplished in mind. He should have had a bigger reason to fear the packs that seemed to be around, given what the last set of Luperci had done to Aniwaya, but he put much trust into his leader's decisions. If this was truly the place that they were to set up home, then he would surely live by the morals that had been ingrained in him by the others. So far, he hadn't found any founded reasons to distrust the wolves that were around, though one wolf from one pack hardly spoke volumes about the others around.
_____However, the thoughts about who he should have trusted and who he shouldn't have trusted didn't matter at all, at least not in the present moment. He had just crested a small rocky outcropping to figure out why there was such a pungent smell in the air—distinctly salty—when the world spit up the biggest body of water that Usdi Tawodi had ever seen. At five months of age, he had seen a lot of things, but the ocean was one that he had never taken in before. His jaw fell agape, gold eyes widened to the point of him seeming more bug-eyed than anything, and his breath caught in his throat. Underneath the clear sky with the sun shining down, the ocean was a body of water lined with diamonds.
_____Without so much as another second, he bounded down from the grassy knoll he was on and across the sand, paying no attention to anyone that could have been around. For as something as big as an ocean, it had to be played in! Just where the waves began to meet the shore, he leapt, going airborne over a crashing wave and landing with a haphazardly splash. But the second he hit the water, everything changed. A yelp and a jump backward followed by some serious back peddling onto dry land let him breathless all over again: that water was bloody cold!
