Before being with Savina, Kansas had never considered becoming a parent. It just wasn't something he associated himself with. Other people had children and raised them with love and compassion - not him. He was just a boy, a stupid boy watching from the sidelines, living his own life while others lived theirs. But he saw himself differently now. He wasn't someone who just had to live for himself. He could live for others, too. Being Savina's mate had already taught him a lot about what that took, and it had brought meaning into his life. Puppies would bring even more. He knew that in his heart.

The boy saw in her shimmering green jade eyes that she meant what she said. It would take time, but he would eventually believe her. He could probably believe anything Savina told him with enough time. She was the only one to have that sort of power over him. But it wasn't bad. He felt her hands on his back and growled softly. Her whisper of his name ignited the desire in him, and he brought his hand to the back of her neck, massaging her while they kissed. "...Savina," he returned. He leaned into her, wanting her to lay back against their bed, a sly smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
