I love you this much

Everything was simple in a child’s mind. Once Haku too had shared her ability to watch the world with bliss, he supposed, but it was forever gone. He had grown up and become tainted to the very core of his damaged soul. With time, she would learn. With time, she too would lose her inner child. It was a shame, but also extremely necessary for her survival. Haku disliked that Firefly had turned her rage to Deuce and her child. Well, apparently it was mostly Deuce that had received the beating, but it did not make it any better. Firefly was a horrible monster, in many ways the same as him, but more vicious and hungry for instant bloodshed. He was the calmer version of her, though driven by another force that in the end would ruin him and those that loved him. He wished Willow never had been born. He wished she had died in her mother’s womb and ended in the same grave as her brother. If the chocolate man could have had a chat with the fierce woman that held the title as his mate, he would. He knew there would be no point, she would do nothing but rage and drama and throw silly names into his face. Haku had better things to do than to try to reason with an uncontrollable child in an adult female’s body. It was such a shame, but he was the one that had started everything. Was it so terrible that he was taking responsibility for it?

He twisted an ear when the girl’s silly words were given to him. It would be better with peace, but Firefly’s rage was not likely to run out anytime soon. He could never tell the girl the reason for Firefly’s anger. It was because of Willow. The fact that she had been born, the fact that she was here in Dahlia together with her mother, which had once served as Haku’s lover. Instead of serving the sad truth, the father shrugged his shoulders, pretending not to know. Pretending was the only thing he was good at nowadays it seemed. No squirrel or any nap could help. Though, he could easily lead the child into believing it maybe would help. ”Hmm, that’s some good suggestions, Willow. I will give Firefly the squirrel, and afterwards she will take a long nap, so maybe she will feel better when she wakes up.” He shook his fur slightly and decided changing the subject would be a good idea. ”Do you me to help you find a squirrel for mommy?” Get the girl a squirrel, and then escort her home, away from the territory with the dangerous river. He did not love the girl as a father should, but he was not completely indifferent either. She was part of his responsibility and he had accepted that. She would carry on his bloodline when he was gone. He wagged his tail lazily and offered the child a smile, an attempt to encourage the girl.
