Monsters? No, the girl put the idea behind her. Haven wasn’t there to protect her, but there was nothing to be protected against. She knew the scent of a bear, and it was neither the season for them nor was there any sign of them inhabiting the forest. Her steps became lighter at the thought. It wasn’t until she caught the scent of something far from a scary bear that made her come to a halt.

Purple eyes peered through the dim forest, standing in the shadow of a large pine. Colors danced between the trees, bright and transparent at the same moment. As it come closer her nose to confirm that it was certainly coyote, but her eyes couldn’t agree. What she saw was something from a book she had been looking at, a halfhearted attempt to read, but the pictures were very explanatory. A figure in a red dress, carrying a basket and skipping through the forest. Some of the details were skewed, for Mati didn’t see a skip in her step and the girl wasn’t an alabaster coyote.

This was no bedtime story, but Mati couldn’t help but think of the climax of the tale. It was quiet scary, and confusing. She knew plenty of big wolves that weren’t exactly bad. Gathering her courage the brown tinted girl approached the optime formed lady. Eyeing the dress she wore, Mati kept her distance, just incase she wasn’t looking to company. Hello. Her voice rang through the quiet forest. The questions she had were dangling off the tip of her tongue. But she held it, waiting for the proper time.
