Dreadful insomnia plagued Howl for the fourth night in a row. She shuffled through the forest like one of the living dead. When skeletal fingers grabbed at her through the black screen of night she flinched, only to find they were just harmless twigs catching in her fur. Relief lasted less than a second as her brain quickly focused back on the meandering, mindless droll of it's captor's movements.
Moonlight slicked back the shadows to reveal slivers of the forest coated in silvery ice and snow. The hushed crunch, crunch of Howl's footsteps tricked her jittery nerves into thinking she was at the brunt end of a slow pursuit. They can't follow me much longer. Just keep going... She groaned and trudged on. But no amount of walking could shake her stalker for obvious reasons that, sadly, weren't so obvious to the delusional girl.
Howl really wanted to escape or at least catch a few winks. These things were unreachable because of the frightening, omnipotent presence that had been watching (and now following! ...or so she thought) Howl for days. Perhaps it was nothing but why then did she feel so strongly about it?
Sometimes her fragmented daydreams were filled with thousands of tiny eyes hiding in every nook and cranny that nature had to offer. The eyes were strange looking and all the same- white pupils ringed in gold so bright it emitted rays of light onto it's target, namely, Howl. But this recurring daydream of the lost wolfgirl roving through a maze of prying eyes was just a silly outcome of sleeplessness with no real meaning.

Right?
