and nothing else matters

OOC: Backdated to April 20th, the day before the DdM party. ^^

It was early morning, and he had already been awake and about for hours. Sunlight streamed through the window of the second-story bedroom, falling gracefully on the tawny girl taking up the entirety of the bed. Drey had been captivated by Alexey since the moment he'd first layed his emerald eyes on her in the woods that morning long ago, but he could never shake the pure adoration he had for her when he awoke to her beside him in the morning light. The couple had been sharing a bedroom since about a week after Kol had left for Elliott's treehouse, and it had only been at Alexey's invitation. She was so very different from all the females Drey had ever been with, in that he could never bring himself to use her, lie to her, or lead her on in any way. While all he'd wanted from the others had been a good time and perhaps a temporary body to ease the loneliness of war-torn bachelor life, it was completely different with the Koios girl. For the first time in his life, Drey had found himself thinking more about the future than the present, and just how badly he wanted to share everything with the sleeping angel currently wrapped up in the sheets.

A soft smile tugged at his lips as moved away from the door. He'd spent the morning bringing down a fat rabbit for breakfast, then roasting it over the firepit he and Kol had built in the kitchen on the first floor of the house. Usually, he preferred not to trouble himself with cooking his meat, but he had to admit that heating it did add a distinct extra flavor and texture that he enjoyed every now and again. Carefully and quietly, he placed the wooden tray with the still simmering rabbit on the tall dresser of the room, stepping silently and swiftly to the bed. He still couldn't believe how much his life had changed in the past year, from the sudden outbreak of war with the Dawnrunners, to his decision to leave the Valley, and most prominently now to the sudden influx of emotions the woman he was admiring flooded within his heart. It had happened far more quickly than he'd ever thought possible, and it was only after his long talk with Kol a few nights ago that he realized he actually liked the feeling. The former playboy had absolutely and whole-heartedly fallen in love.

A crimson hand reached out to stroke his lover's hair as he sat on the bed beside her. It was no wonder she'd been so exhausted lately, spending so much time caring for the Soul boys now that they had finally been returned to Dahlia. Pups had never been a soft spot for the Stormbringer, but they seemed to mean the world to Alexey, and so he was begrudgingly willing to share her with them if it kept her happy. He knew she could probably see the foolish jealousy in his emerald eyes everytime she left to care for them, but he always held his tongue. He knew it was idiotic to be jealous of two helpless pups who needed what the Caregiver could provide, but the feeling rushed over him regardless. There would be no question as to the male's actions if the one demanding Alexey's attention had been another male; Dreyrugr was a man of action, not words, and he would simply have introduced himself to the bastard with his fists. Fortunately for Conor and Emwe, that wasn't the case in their relationship with Alexey.
