The raven woman nodded her head at Amata’s question. “Yes, a stuffed animal. Humans made them. They’re just cloth with this white fluffy stuff inside.” Out of curiosity she had opened one up on day. They were good children’s toys. They could take quite a beating and yet they weren’t hard so kids wouldn’t hurt themselves throwing the things around. It was just the perfect thing for her two girls, she just hoped it would cheer them like she hoped. The hesitance was clear in both of them, but it seemed they were both slowly warming to idea that this particular butterfly was okay for them to play with.

The mother’s smile grew as both Amata and Cambria showed a great interest in being able to handle butterflies in the future. “Yes. You see, you can be much more careful with hands than you can with your paws. You can let the butterflies land on you and let them crawl on you. Or you can even catch them by cupping your hands so you don’t actually touch them,” she said, demonstrating what she meant. Then it seemed all hesitance of their new toy was thrown to the wind as Amata jumped onto it and Cambria came to try it for herself. A laugh escaped her throat, happy that the trauma of today’s life lesson was wearing off. The stuffed butterfly had been the perfect medicine.
