Ehno felt sorrow and worry build up in his chest until the pressure became so great that he thought he would suffocate. His sister held onto him tightly and he responded by holding her just as tight. He wouldn’t let her go. He would remain there and protect her until she felt safe again, until the unbearable world became a place she could feel comfortable in once more. Seeing his sibling like this pained him greatly, brotherly instincts telling him to fight off whatever threat had left her sobbing in the forest like this. He closed his eyes and leaned against her, loosening his embrace slightly only so that he could rub her back in a placating manner. Minutes ticked by while they sat like this, though it felt like an eternity. Eventually Savina managed to calm herself, if only a little bit. Some part of his mind distantly realized that his fur was now wet with both the rain and her tears.

His sister’s explanation came shakily, hindered by both her previous sobs and the calmer tears that continued to wet her emerald orbs. The Marino instinctively held his sibling tighter as she revealed what had happened, confiding in him her insecurities. He was shocked by all of her words, but he refused to let it show as he was determined to be strong for Savina right now. She needed him now, and he would not falter, though on the inside his thoughts were reeling. Kansas knew? He knew about that dangerous drug Naniko had brought into their home and did nothing about it? If the pale man had done something about it their ex-leader could have been stopped, and his own daughter would not have had to go through that frightening ordeal. The thought disgusted and confused him. He couldn’t understand his brother-in-law’s actions. But Ehno dwelled no longer on that, thoughts turning quickly to his sister’s insecurities. He never would have suspected she felt that way at all. "Ciò non dice. Lei non è indegno," he whispered. "Lei merita solo il meglio. Nessuno lasciarla fa sente altrimenti." These words were firmer, but filled with love and reassurance.
