in a field of mud and bone

Emma had not intended to have company and when someone approached, she shuffled back further into the bush to avoid being seen but it was evident she failed. Her blue eyes stared through the brush quietly as he introduced himself and asked for her own name. Her ears rested against her head and she pushed up a branch and stuck her head out. At first, she did not speak, but instead stared at his head garment. She became momentarily distracted by the feathers but she finally snapped out of it with a thump of her tail to acknowledge him. "H-hi," she whimpered as she shuffled out of the bush. She felt intimidated and worried she might have done something wrong but she hadn't heard of this male before from Hemming or Ember.

"My na-name is Emma," she stuttered and let the cold ground chill her belly. Her eyes turned away and she stared at the ground. "I wuz no-not doin' nothin'," she explained and slowly picked herself up. She felt so little to wolves in their natural form and even smaller when they stood on two legs. She felt like an ant. She slowly stepped back and let the bush touch her shoulder as if it were a security blanket. Emma could dash back inside, beneath the bush's cover, if something were going to go wrong.
