a starlight in the gloom

ooc: all welcome. quartz shoreline.

The storm had come again. Xeris had decided to spend the day on the beach yet again, contemplating, and time seemed to have passed quicker than she could ever have imagined. The sky was darkened now not only by the approaching night but by the looming gray clouds overhead as well. There was the occasional distant bright burst of lightning among the clouds or a rumble of thunder, but aside from that the Quartz Shoreline beach was still and peaceful--the calm before the storm.

Perched upon a medium-sized boulder, Xeris looked out over the sea. She let her long legs hang down, every now and then feeling the slight dampness of the sea spray against her fur. For the first time, the white-furred female had noticed something odd. She was unsure as to why she hadn't seen it before; that is, the lighthouse across a small stretch of ocean. She had seen the lighthouse at Phoenix Valley, but never this one. It towered from the island, dark and gloomy much like the sky. Xeris wondered what it would be like if the lighthouse still worked. Perhaps it would add a bit of optimism to such a depressing evening.
