a starlight in the gloom

Xeris continued to smile. The two of them were obviously like-minded, having both come to the beach for some relaxation. Pendzez had spoken to her before about fate, and she could see where he was coming from now. If this was the way fate was taking her, she wanted to continue on this path for as long as possible. A distant thunderclap sounded in the distance, interrupting her thoughts momentarily, and she turned to look out over the ocean at the oncoming clouds.

"Where should we go?" she asked in response to Pendzez's question. She honestly hadn't explored the territory around here much other than the beach and a bit of the forest. The deepest forest exploration she'd done was in the Dampwoods, and that had led to her conflict with Kaena...but now wasn't the time to think about that. Xeris didn't want to get rained on, so she would stick to the topic at hand. Perhaps her mate knew the area better and could find them some safe and dry shelter. Despite how much she loved the beach, on a stormy day it was not a very good place to be.
