Whereas this half-brother certainly made the young female curious, the blood that bound them together was judged invalid and was discarded. Halo was good at pushing people and objects away. Half her family had already been rejected by her heart – most likely never again to be let in. Although she had never been particularly close to any of her siblings, it had been a massive blow to her shrunken heart when they had turned their backs at Inferni. It had happened so fast, and so she could not accept any kind of excuse because there was no validity that could be attached to their reasoning. They had not even given their rightful home a decent chance before they suddenly weren’t there anymore. No tears were shed for her disappeared family, for Halo had replaced love with rage. It felt better.

Perhaps it was inappropriate, but Halo had to allow a dark smile to touch her delicate lips. She liked what she saw in the Aquila. Some meant that Inferni had grown weaker in many ways, but there was strength in Gabriel that could charge through fire and water. She liked what he said and gave a court nod. Although the girl did not hunger for battle and death as much as she once had, she could still taste a hint of adrenaline whenever she thought of Inferni lashing out at the wolfen sinners. She wanted the rest of the world to know of the clan’s greatness. Haku already deserved several death sentences if the episode with the coyote mother and her child was true. She wanted to ask why they couldn’t just go and push the wolf pack down to its knees at once, but it was not her business.

She was a mere soldier and not ready for a larger battle than a sparring. While her swords were sharp and her bullets were deadly, she would need more skill with the sword. Bullets were not all that easy to stumble across in this world, and so Halo was quite protective of her ammo. Although she made a point to clean her firearms twice every week, she had not actually used them since she had arrived here. She was certain she would when the time was right. With some remaining unease caused by the Aquila’s presence, the girl remained silent, obedient rubies watching her leader with a peculiar fondness. He was not an uncle she could come to with a torn in her paw, but he had given her what she had desired. A home, a family and a purpose.
