Gabriel had known only of Halo’s fascination with rats in passing, having not seen the intricacy of her set up or known much of her training. He was glad, though, that she had begun to work with her fellow clan members and really find a place in the clan. Had she not, as her brothers had made apparent, she would have been gone long ago. If he had known, though it was likely he never would, what had happened between his niece and Samael, he would have torn the man asunder. Halo had filled a void in his clan, and she was not only a coping tool for his mother, but for Gabriel as well. Even though he would not admit it, she reminded him of his own daughter, and this was a large part of why he was so eager to see her succeed.
Her expression told him now that she was no longer dreading the work ahead of them, but instead the need to find her purpose and make herself great. “Well, get to it. I’ll see you soon.” With a nod and a faint smile, his black-gold fur shifted with the turning breeze and his feet lifted his body. Without a further farewell, he began trotting back towards the borders, intending to resume his patrol (and perhaps, now that his niece was on board, head south and find himself a suitable weapon as well).
