finding devotion

She'd heard them in passing, Ahren and Tobias complaining about how girls were usually oh-so whiny. Hrmph. They probably would've changed their minds after encountering Mr. Crybaby himself. His pathetic attempt at returning the insult had her scoffing out loud. Hah! As if she hadn't heard that one before. Her playmates back in Chimera found great pleasure and amusement from constantly picking on her. No possible insult could've taken her off guard. Well, that's what she'd initially thought, until one of his comments struck a chord. She could handle his incessant babbling about how important his mommy was, but the part where he'd brought Miska into the equation washed over her like cold water. There she stood, torn in half by two prominent feelings surging through her brain. Pain and Anger. Ashen lips curled into an unhappy frown, not really caring if the boy saw how wounded she was.

"My mommy's dead," she answered, her tone of voice dripping with newfound disgust for her interlocutor. Aquamarine globes narrowed then, contemplating ways to torture the insolent being. The wheels of her mind churned until an adequate punishment was created.Thankfully, her victim was no genius. Lillith's body momentarily stiffened from neck to tail, and then, her entire demeanor changed. She advanced, her movements casual, mimicking the way she'd approach a friend or family member. "Wanna see what they did to her?" she offered, tone of voice dripping with a sweet nectar. The Stormbringer child couldn't really follow through with her proposal, because she hadn't seen exactly how her mother had died. She'd only been granted a glimpse of Miska's motionless body on the hardwood floor, surrounded by a pool of crimson liquid. Although she couldn't demonstrate what they'd done to her, Lillith could still inflict him with a certain degree of pain.
