On cold winter days the sound of the grass crunching under her weight made Kali think of the sound of bone crunching between her teeth. The sound of the trees rustling in the wind sound a lot like a limp body skidding across the ground, propelled by the force of one of her blows. A day like this was a violent symphony, one that was comforting in the fact that it was also familiar to the canine's ears. And thus Kali was feeling incredibly contented even as she approached the edge of a territory that was most definitely not her own. Her nose alerted her to this beyond reasonable doubt. But then again, she didn't have any territory of her own. Not anymore. She was on her own now.

Being on her own, of course, wasn't Kali's idea of a comfortable life. She had so much aggression and with nothing to fight for it all felt wasted. She couldn't deny that she was hard to get along with. She was headstrong, and something of an elitist when it came to her kind. In her eyes it was much better to be pure. Purebred coyote, and a born shifter at that. Others were just inferior, a bother, and generally a waste of flesh. Perhaps her tendency to start fights because of this was one thing that had lead to her being out on her own. Well, she wasn't about to blame it on herself. After all, she had left! They weren't good enough for her. None of them were near good enough. And here she was now, seeking perhaps a new home with a better fit.

She paced to the edge of the territory and stopped. So here she was. Kali knew that if she wanted to be accepted she need to put her pride aside, and after months of wandering on her own... She really did want to be accepted. Better here than anywhere else. She was tired of wandering and she wasn't about to move on. Maybe this was going to be the answer to her restlessness, a place to belong. Only time would tell, of course. She eased over that invisible edge and stood with her posture tense and high, knowing she would have to appear a bit more submissive when the time came. But for now this was habit. And then she threw back her head, letting out a long howl, calling for someone to come to greet her. This was going to be interesting, at least. There would be a fight to the death (most likely hers) or a new home in her near future.
