For the first time in a while, Ajax felt confident about the control he had over shifting. He didn't especially like the sensation, or the way it seemed to take forever to completely change, but he felt sure that there would be no more eratic changing. It'd been nearly a year since he'd become infected, but when under stress, he usually still had strange shifting spasms, and once he started shifting, he couldn't stop until he was finished. So, if it was up to him, he stuck to his Lupine form. It was the form he was most comfortable in, after all.

It was peculiar, the way he felt he had some impending doom. It was the main reason he had sought out a pack in the first place. He'd been rejected from several packs already, but this time, he felt confident. He had himself under complete control, now. There would be no sudden transformations. If possible, he would avoid ever changing again.

The stocky wolf shifted his paws, a cold winter wind biting at his reddish brown fur as he peered through the trees. Now.. all he had to do was alert someone of his presence. Naturally he felt a bit jittery, but he masked it easily. The loner inhaled deeply, then let out a questioning howl, as if to ask if there was anyone out there. He could clearly smell the border of the pack's territory, and had taken great care to keep his distance from it. Some people were just extremely territorial.

Welcome to Storm! Big Grin

Moon was in his four-legged form today. He enjoyed the feeling of the snow beneath his paws and the wind rippling through his silvery fur as he ran at top speed. He had been running around enjoying the snow drifts once again when he heard the call of a wolf at the border. The howl wasn’t demanding, rather it was questioning and cautionary. Grinning to himself, he moved of toward the borders and began to trek toward the source of the howl. Soon a tawny wolf appeared in the distance, and Moon studied his figure and stance as he approached. As he was a pack wolf, he could hold himself a little higher than a traveler. But Moon wasn’t haughty or mean when he spoke. “Not many wolves howl at the borders, you know. Some people consider it to be rude,” after a momentary pause, he took a seat near the wolf and smiled warmly. “Our pack is different, though. We are a lenient bunch. What’s your name?”

Ajax listened to his howl echo quietly before it faded away, trying to banish the second thoughts that were inevitable. It was too late, though. Howling was irrevocable, and there was no way that he had gone unnoticed by everyone. He shifted nervously, awaiting some unfamiliar wolf to confront him. He paced around for a moment before deciding that it just made the three minutes he'd been waiting last longer. He settled with reclining, peering into the trees with his yellow-tinted eyes.

The following two minuted that passed before Ajax caught sight of the pack wolf seemed to last longer than the three minutes he'd spent pacing. As he watched the unfamiliar wolf approach, he was unsure whether he should feel relieved that he wasn't being ignored, or afraid of being rejected.. again. His brow lifted, and he gave the stranger a peculiar stare.

"Rude, eh?" he said, putting on a mask of confidence to hide his real, almost timid, self. "Moreso than barging into claimed lands, would you say?" He meant it to be a harmless question, but as the words left his lips, they sounded almost sarcastic. Ajax hoped dearly that he wouldn't notice. "Ajax Hesperides, at your service," he said quickly.

Sorry for the horrendous wait! :\

An eyebrow rose at the male’s response. It sounded slightly sarcastic, which was not a good thing to be on the borders. Moon shrugged it off though, because Storm needed new members and if this male had any great talents he would overlook this misdeed. “Of course not,” he allowed, his hackles rising only slightly to remind the male who was the higher ranked wolf here. Moon wasn’t a violent wolf by any means, but he would defend his family, friends, and pack before letting anyone through the borders that meant them harm. “Ajax is a good name; strong. I’m Moon Phoenix.”

It took him a moment to remember exactly how this was supposed to go. He had never been accepted into a pack before, being very young when he was first found, and he made it his purpose to know every wolf that walked through his father’s lands. He wouldn’t use his relation to the alpha to his advantage, though, because he was above that. He would use his own strength and knowledge to get him through his one, and he would be proud of himself for it. “Where have you come from, Ajax?” he asked softly, looking into the yellow eyes of the wolf sitting on the other side of the border. Moon wasn’t used to being an interrogator, but he would try today, and hopefully he would do well.

I didn't notice any horrendous wait. xD

The wanderer's ears flattened back slightly, a silent act of pleading for forgiveness. The brief look on the male's face was enough to tell Ajax that he had percieved the rash question just as Ajax had hoped he wouldn't. He smiled weakly, hoping that the younger wolf wouldn't hold it against him. As far as Ajax knew, that one slip up could've ruined any chance he had at joining the pack. The compliment - at least, what ajax hoped was a compliment - calmed his fears a bit, but he was still unsettled. "Thank you..." he said, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

Ajax watched Moon carefully, slightly put off by the silence. The younger wolf didn't appear to be the leader of the pack. In fact, he seemed a bit inexperienced to be the one greeting hopeful strangers, but Ajax didn't say anything. Every pack had it's own customs, after all, and Moon seemed confident enough. A wave of relief washed over him when Moon asked another question. Ajax wasn't really one to start a conversation, having been raised in mostly silence, and even spending quite a bit of time on his own while he adjusted to his newfound shifting abilities. The relief was short lived, though, seeing as Ajax didn't really know where he came from. He supposed he was born somewhere far, far south of here, but he'd never stayed in one place for long. "I've never stayed in one place long enough to call it home, but I was born far south of here," he answered, again adding false confidence to his words.

Oops! XD I copied and pasted the HTML from another post I was making, which had taken me a long time to reply to. xD *fails*

Moon was pretty sure that he had been born in Concrete Jungle, but Phoenix had never been too specific with the details. It didn’t matter much, though, because he was just happy to be alive with a great family around him. The predicament Ajax was in was understandable, which made Moon more likely to be trusting of this wolf. Moon as always a friendly guy, and he tried his hardest to trust others, which was made easy by his laid-back personality. “That’s alright,” he assured the other wolf, giving a slight nod. There was nothing wrong with not knowing where you came from. “What kinds of skills do you have, Ajax? What could you give to my pack, Storm?”
