The rain was light, showering down with a fine mist. The drops rested softly on his fur, nothing but a nuisance and yet he hated that it he found it unexpected. The clouds should have told him that it would shower, if not storm. But Heath had ignored it, traveling out past the stables and fields. For the warm summer months Heath had hoped to repair the long lengths of fence that rounded and weaved through the newly grown saplings and undergrowth that had sprung up by the warming temperatures and ample rainfall around the stables pastures.

Accompanied by the roan mare Heath rode out along the pole and wire fence. Many of its length had rusted long ago, but it had remained intact even with its red rustic coloring. But, as he soon found not all of the wooden poles could withstand the weather and time. The coy-wolf wore his hat, jeans torn and rolled to meet his knees. Lumière wandered lazily, her sides rounded by the foal she carried, neither phased by the light rain that annoyed Heath to no end and was pleased to simply be away from the stables.

Heath called her to stop, urging her gently. Conceding the mare came to a halt beside the broken fence post so that the rider could dismount. Trudging through the wet grass the black armed male began first with casting away the vines and vegetation that wrapped itself around the fence. The merle and dark faced horse wandered, caring little for the care of fence making and finding the new grasses sweet and tasty. The Marshal tore at the creeping greenery, his hands ungloved and stupidly so. Light and dark fingers ripped at the last vines, the thorns that dappled their thin green bodies unseen or noticed.

Cursing, the male felt the pain of the thorns and looked down at the small twigs that hung from the first few layers of skin.

OOC: I hope you don't mind me jumping in, if so I'll get the post removed ^^;

Niro found he actually enjoyed walking in the new summer rains, even though it was still rather cool, his fur was made for the cold. He didn’t mind the wet clumpy fur the rain had made, it would dry out soon enough. He wasn’t going to bring Marahute on his walk with him, but the bird wouldn’t stop screetching, and he knew if he didn’t bring it, Orin would have many words with him, not to mention the other residents of the hotel. The golden eagle didn’t even seem phased by the rain outside, which was fine with him, he knew that eagles lived outside normally. He wondered if they could fly in the rain. He wouldn’t make any of his birds do that and Marahute wasn’t even a fledgling yet. His walk had taken him past the stables. He was headed to the far bank to see the water and how the rain effected it. He loved watching the droplets disturb the water, but his mind was distracted when he heard a familiar voice swear. Niro decided to figure out what was wrong and see if he could be of any assistance. He saw the horse first, but it had wandered off a little, horses were nice and all, but just thinking about riding made him nervous. Then he found the owner, it was heath, he was bent down doing something. Niro didn’t hesitate to walk up to him. It had been a while since they saw each other.

Hey, need some help?

He asked, he couldn’t see what was wrong so he stood a little ways from Heath. He wasn’t sure how he could help he wasn’t even sure what Heath was doing, and then thought… what if he wanted to be on his own? And Niro interrupted him? He felt sheepish, maybe he should have left the wolf alone, but he stood there to get an answer or a reprimand anyway.

Oh no I’m glad you joined Big Grin!!

Heath grimaced as he looked at the thorns that he had torn off the vines and were now lodged in his skin. Such small wounds were not supposed to be so painful and yet Heath felt like stomping his foot and screaming. The mare looked up at his huffing, chewing grass and wondering why he was making such a grumby ruckus. The amber eyed male looked at his friend, glaring as she stared back with a dark and blank gaze. She cared so little, Heath thought as he scorned and huffed. But of course that wasn’t the truth. The roan mare loved him just as much as he loved her. She simply saw the lack of seriousness in the situation. He would be fine.

Just as he was picking the thorns out of his hand his ears turned to take in the approach of another. The scent told him of the one that walked behind him and the familiar smell kept him at ease. Nio’s voice made Heath turn his head, a half smile on his face. Yeah, I think so. the Marshal stood and turned to face the pale colored male. He remembered seeing the male at the cliffs and at the pack’s celebration, at Anann’s cabin, and looked at the little bird that was with him. Heath knew nothing of the other feathered companions that Niro had, and figured that it was same one that he had seen those past times.

He’s getting bigger. Heath commented with a wider grin. Lum had lost her nonchalant daze as the other male had made his appearance and walked towards the pair. She was a pushy horse, though gentle, and wished to sniff at the new wolf and that little thing that he carried. This is Lumière. Heath gave a nod at the dark faced mare who was reaching her nose out to investigate Niro.

Niro was quite relieved he hadn’t come into some private time, and was slightly conscerned when heath said he did need some help, he looked at the males hands which had little beads of blood from where the thorns were, then to the fence that he was trying to fix up. He pulled out his leather gloves he’d normally used for Tobias, but he’d always kept them on the belt he wore at all times, just in case, and it seemed this was a good just in case kind of time. He smiled at his friend, thinking it was good Niro came along, because such nice gloves made for their long fingers was so hard to find. He handed them to heath,

Oh yes, I’d love you to meet Marahute

He said, knowing Heath didn’t know the little fledgelings name yet. They’d only seen each other at glance points, or working hard to where idle conversation wasn’t needed.

I really wish I did know the gender of the poor thing, I hate calling Marahute an it, but I’d feel bad if I was wrong at the gender. Only way I can tell is when Marahute is a year or two old,
He said sheepishly, he wasn’t trying to correct Heath, but he wanted to let him know he wasn’t even sure of the fledglings gender. Just then the mare walked up to them, Niro gave a nod, and put his hand to her nose, he knew that’s how the gentle creatures got to know others. He wasn’t at all afraid of her… until someone would mention riding, then he’d back off a little, but they were harmless but for defending themselves.

It is nice to meet you Lumiere, What is it that you’re doing here anyway?

He asked looking at the thorned vines had over grown the post of the fence, he could tell there was something wrong with it, and maybe he could help Heath, make the job a little easier. He proved himself good with his hands to the pack many times, although he was a Huntsman, he didn’t feel himself too high for hard labor even though he helped get food for all of the pack.

Heath was appreciative for the male’s appearance at such a moment, even if it was a bit embarrassing. But he had had worse, and Heath shook off the small injury and gladly took the gloves that the other wolf graciously offered. His light toned hand relieved Niro of the gloves, and he looked down at them as he chuckled a Thanks. He should have been prepared, bringing his own, but Heath hadn’t had the notion of preparedness installed inyo his background and so he was still learning it. Such as organization, Heath was picking up those un life-saving things bit by bit and a tad slower then others.

All attention was brought back to the bird, and Heath gave the small feathered thing a nod. At Niro’s explanation he spoke up with a small frown. I can imagine its difficult to tell. The coy-wolf picked the last of the thorns out of his hand and then worked to pull the glove over one hand after he had wiped the blood from his palm onto his old pants. Shame it isn’t easier to know, but Marahute could be male or female so once you do he or she will not have to change their name. His tone was lighter then before, joking slightly. He figured that the bird would not know if he had called it by the wrong pronoun, but it was like calling Lum a he when she was not. It was disrespect, even if it was just the smallest amount.

He liked the way Niro looked at Lumière, it held respect and understanding. There were some that could care less about the silent creatures, and though Heath did not see such carelessness in his friend he was pleased to know that the male cared for things with fur and hooves as well as feathers. Thought I would fix this fence while the weather was fair, better now then in winter. Heath explained as he pointed to the leaning post. Just trying to get this post settled in its hole again, then run the wire from that one to this one and move on. Course the vines don’t always appreciate it. He looked to the gloved and hands before tearing at the last of the greenery. They protected well, and in a moment the post was perfectly visible as it leaned towards the ground.

OOC: haha I had looked up how to make concrete a loooong time ago, and it's actually very "easy" with the right materials ... i'm wierd I know >.>;

Niro only nodded at Heath’s comment about Marahute’s gender, he was watching him pull the thorns out of his hand and put the gloves on. Then listened as Heath pulled more vines off the leaning post. Niro understood now and offered his help after the thorns were cleared by pushing on the post to hold it up straight. That way it gave Heath some room to fill in the spots where the post had dug into the earth, well he hoped there would be some extra dirt, it did seem rather packed around the posts as it was, but then the rain could easily make it useable.
You’re right it would be much better than the winter.

He said, knowing full well what the winter brought. He only came at the tail end of winter, but he’d seen plenty of snow, he liked it for what it was, but it wasn’t working weather. Although the vines would have been dead, they would have had to contest with the snow, and Niro didn’t really know but the frozen earth as well.

I sure wish we knew how to make concrete here.

He said, there’s been a few places in florida who’s rodes were paved a concrete, and before then, when he’d wondered the southeast of old America they’d seen wolves that actually made cement bricks and built houses out of them. He wondered if that could be done here too, he did remember asking his father how it was made, and he told Niro that they needed special kinds of dirt and clay.

Then we could just fill it in that way, and not have to worry about it for a very long time.

He said, he was thinking of the future, knowing this would have to be done again next year, if it wasn’t this post it surely would have been another.

that would make things much easier xD

He had wanted to do this project from some time, and he had imagined himself doing it alone. But only because he figured that no one would be interested in the task as he was. There were many that found themselves wrapped up in dramatics more often then not, and Heath prided himself in keeping his day to day as normal as possible. He had been wild once, and he wished to settle down and keep to his routine. Of course, he diverted from that plan often enough, but it was usually at not fault of his own.

Niro spoke up about concrete, something that Heath was not completely familiar with. The stuff from the city streets? He asked, knowing little about building in general let alone the materials the humans used. He was not a carpenter, and he tried to play maintenance man as best he could around the stables. Fixing a jammed door around the house, or putting a nail back in place was the best that Heath could do. As far as the fence fixing was going, he was certainly winging it.

Heath spoke, since I was just going to use dirt and rocks to keep it steady. Hopefully a few well placed rocks would keep it up till next year. He looked to Niro with an amber gaze and brushed the leaves the greenery had left off of the gloves. He took them off, handing them to the other male, Could you look for one? And Ill get the post back into place. Steadying it on a rock would allow him to fill the hole with sand and dirt to cement the post as best he could.

He moved around the post, lifting it as it leaned and jostling it back into the up right position.

Niro took his gloves and put them back on his belt. Then had to think for a second about what Heath asked. Streets? It was different type of stuff, but he didn’t doubt it would also keep the posts in as well, he’d never seen any wolf work with any of the black stuff, he didn’t even know what it was called.

Not the street, but sometimes you’d find the cement close to the street, even right next to it, it’s a light grey color, and is much smoother than what a street looks like.

He said, trying to imagine both cement and street together and explain it to Heath all at the same time, it was hard work for the young wolf, but he did it as well as he could. Niro nodded when Heath told him his plans, they weren’t in short supply of rocks and dirt, that was for sure. He hurried to get some nice large ones, and found a couple of big rocks not too far away from where the fence was. He hurried back with them, he set one down and put one right next to the post where Heath was pushing.

There we go, that will hold it for now.

He said to Heath in a ‘now what’ expression. He’d never done this before, but if they had to do this yearly, he’d take part in helping alone once he learned how to actually do everything that was needed for the job. He knew that the fence was mostly for the horses that wandered around the area, and that his fellow wolves loved the horses so it was best to keep them as safe as possible which meant keeping the fences in good order so the horses wouldn’t get tangled in them or run off into dangerous territory.

^^

Heath felt that there was always something for him to learn, always something to surprise him. Even if it was only what they spoke of now, certainly not anything life altering, but it still made him think. The male thought on things a bit longer now that he had passed his second birthday. He felt the unruly emotions that had concurred and controlled him in the past fading away, and if he understood the biology of it he would know that it was his body that was balancing and gaining control over hormones and energy. He was calmer now, and far more controlled. So understanding the difference between the street and the concrete sidewalks mattered to him, as when he was younger he would care little about it just as he would care less whether the fence was intact or not. He nodded at Niro, who seemed to have the same level headed-ness as Heath did when it came to these hands on things. Course it was not as adrenaline pumping as scaling a cliff (which Heath remembered vividly), but it still held a degree of mechanical know-how. Oh, alright. Yeah that would be very helpful. Heath imagined how sturdy and well made the fence would be if the humans had just used it the first time around, since they seemed to have enough of it to made a whole city.

They worked well together, and in a knowing silence Heath pushed the pole in place and then waited for Niro to bring the rocks to help him sturdy the fence post. They got it into place quickly, and at Niro confirmation Heath gave a nod, I think it will there was satisfaction in his tone, pleased with the job, even if it was just one of many that would need to be fixed through out the season. He wiped his hands on his pants, then spoke about what it would take to complete the task. I've got some wire, to string along between these three posts. He spoke as he pointed to the two posts that sat on either side of the one that they had just adjusted.

As Heath walked over to Lumiere, opening one of the many pouches that were attached to the saddle the mare wore he asked, How is the training going, for the bird? as a spool of wire and old cutters that had to have rust polished away were grabbed from the bag.

He was glad that Heath found it a great idea, the only problem was… Niro had no idea what so ever how to make cement. He’d keep that idea in his head and hopefully find something that would help him figure it out. Once the rock was set in place, and Heath seemed quite happy about its placement, Niro stood tall wiping his hands free of the loose dirt that had attached itself to him. It wasn’t too bad, and he looked at Heath as he answered his quiet question. Wire, well that wouldn’t be too hard. Niro watched Heath pull out the wire before answering his friends’ question.

Honestly? It’s going great! Marahute, is learning so fast! Marahute can’t fly quite yet but I’m teaching commands and such, but tobias, he’s brilliant, I don’t know if I’ll ever have a smarter bird.

Niro commented. He was training a redtail but the hawk was still in the stables, under a cage. He didn’t trust the bird enough to let loose like he did Marahute, whom he’d hatched. Then again his golden eagle couldn’t even fly so where would it go? He took Tobias out only when training or when he found a good opportunity to get the bird use to wolf noises. He would normally have both birds out, but as the weather had been pretty rotten lately he let Tobias stay dry, he did wish that Marahute would want to stay in too so he could be by himself for once.

So is this what you tend to do most of the time? Fix things up?

He asked, he did see Heath at Anann’s new house helping them build it up for her. They got too busy to talk, but he had noticed all who came, and was proud of himself for helping Anann. But he’d noticed the wolf there helping and now he was fixing up the posts, he was trying to put two and two together, but he was also interested in the jobs of each of the pack members.

Heath had thought it before, the humans had it easy. Of course their history and development was a mystery to the coy-wolf, their trials and errors unknown. But the sometimes narrow minded male knew that what they had was at times far easier then what they faced as a Luperci community. Concrete, it would be nice to be able to keep the post in place but the male knew that such a thing was almost impossible and he would be back next season. Of course, his job was his own making and there were other things far worse. A fallen post was nothing to be angry about.

As Niro explained the progress in the training of the bird Heath found that the other male spoke of Marahute as he would speak of Lumière. The coy male gave a smile, his eyes looking down at the wire that he twisted around one of the hooks that had been embedded into the post. Hands worked as he spoke, Great, starting so young must really help. He moved to the next post, working with the wire cutter-pliers to tighten the loop. Who is Tobias? He wondered aloud, amber eyes looking back at the other wolf.

The question came and the Marshal gave a small laugh, I try, his even voice spoke with a bit of a laugh. it keeps me busy. As the Marshal I work with the horses the most, the heat keeps most of them in the shade this time of the year. The morte dre Soul male loved the horses, all of them though it was Lum and Stark that he had bonded with the greatest. The roan mare pulled at the grass near by, caring little that he spoke of her and her kin.

What about you? Honey colored eyes looked at the pale wolf. He had not remembered having much of an opportunity to get to know him the last few times they had seen each other, and quelling some curiosity was always refreshing. You have any family here, right? If memory served him right Niro had a sister here, though at times the details faded.

He kept watching, doubting he could really too much but would surely lend a hand when asked. He smiled, forgetting not everyone knew about Tobias, even though the bird lived in a cage inside the stables, but normally he was a quiet bird.

Tobias is a red tail hawk I caught a little over a month ago. I actually keep him in the stables, but he’s normally a quiet bird.

He said, he was remembering the co ranks that were available he was impressed, working in the stables was surely hard work, especially to take care of the horses that were there. He smiled in acknowledgement but was unable to really give an answer to that, he didn’t know much about horses or stables, other than he could build the building part if he had the help and the materials and plans of course. As the same question was directed his way he smiled,

I’m the huntsman, I make sure everyone is well fed, especially the pups and mothers, and those who are unable to or unwilling to hunt.

He knew that a few members had such jobs in the pack they didn’t seem to have time to go chasing rabbits or deer. His next question was surely an easy one.

My sister is here too, I’m sure you may have met her, or even seen her in a distance, Orin, she’s the white wolf with pink hair.

well he didn’t have to mention her hair was in dreadlocks the pink was rather a given. Everyone pretty much knew the pink haired girl. She didn’t walk out much, but given the amount of time they’d been here, she had been out much more often than they did in florida.

I had the pleasure of meeting your mate, by the way, she is a very lovely wolf.

He said kindly, reminded that he’d met Ruri not too long ago, well before Marahute hatched, which he did promise her that he’d visit her after Marahute hatched, he’d have to try to find the time to visit her.

Heath was a bit astonished that there was something happening in the stables that he did not know about. But then again, he no longer lived there. When his home had been the loft above the stalls and among the rafters he had missed very little of what happened there. But now he split his time between there and his cabin with Ruri. It was his job to keep the horses healthy in body and mind, but it was his choice to care for Ruri. She came first, and he would rather miss a few things here and there in the stables then miss a single thing that happened in his home. Ah, that’s why I haven’t noticed him yet. Heath spoke with a grin and a small chuckle. The coy-wolf would make it a point to go and see the bird, simply to see how he was being house in order to curb his curiosity. He trusted that Niro would keep him from bothering the horses, he had so far.

A nod was given as the other male explained his position among them. The rank Heath held was a high one, just below Ruri and beside Haven. But it wasn’t as pertinent to him as his job of Marshal, that was who he was in a deeper sense then a Chancellor. Niro spoke of those that were unable to hunt, mother and pups. He and his mate had thought about starting their own family, but Heath was having second thoughts. Of course they only had to do with his own ability, for he never seconded guessed Ruri’s capacity to care and love. His thoughts were drawn away, placed back into the deeper realms of his mind as Niro described his sister. Perhaps the pack gathering. Heath guessed, moving to the next and final post. I will have to go and introduce myself. The wire had left a few small scrapes on his fingers, but he pushed pat the pain easily. He had not spoken to many at the party, his nerves getting the better of him. All the pretty dresses and suits had made Heath uneasy, keeping him quiet. Someone with a pick mane might have gone unnoticed in the sea of other colors.

At the notion of Ruri Heath’s gaze rose from his job, though his features were still placid and even. She is. Heath spoke, his tone soft. She’s very kind. his thoughts spoken aloud. Has she met Marahtue? I’m sure she would love to. We have a cat that she absolutely adores. Ruri loved everything, she such an ability in order to love him.

Niro watched as Heath worked feeling a little uneasy just standing there, but he listened as the wolf spoke. He was quiet though, watching the other wolf work, remembering what he was doing so on the next post he could help at least. Or do one by himself, and make the other’s job much easier. That’s what he was there for anyway. He smiled at the last mention, Ruri had said the two of them had a cat and Heath seemed as fond of the cat as Ruri had.

Oh yes, she told me when I visit you two after Marahute hatches that I can meet the cat, I really should let her see Marahute soon though, I have just been so busy with the training and hunting it kept slipping my mind.

He explained, thinking of how busy it had gotten since he had caught Tobias around the time Marahute hatched, and only at a month old the little fledgling was starting to walk, she couldn’t fly, or even glide but she was making progress as her feathers started growing in. She was still ugly to some and yet beautiful to others, and Niro did know that even though Ruri couldn’t see, she’d think Marahute as beautiful.

Is there anymore I can do to help I do feel rather mean just standing here.

He said finally, smiling slightly, he wasn’t lying, it would have been considered rude if someone had been standing in his place and he was working while they were talking and there was more stuff to do. Then again, he was just learning this now, he’d incorporate a team effort on the next one, if there was one. He was sure there’d be a few more posts to put back in place though, the weather and wind, did a good deal of damage to them. If there was a post that needed replacing, he’d be glad to make one himself too. He wouldn’t offer right then and there though, maybe if there was a broken one, or once they split up.

Heath certainly did love the small kitten. Well the orange main coon was far from a small kitten. He had never really been small. His lineage made for a large boned and tall beast, covered in long fluffy orange fur. Heath remembered the day they found him, remembered the day he had asked Ruri to be his and to be his family. Soleil had been their first that the pair had taken into their care as a couple, and he was just the beginning. The tabby didn’t know it but he had been the two hybrid’s dry run, teaching them if it was possible to care from something together. The fact that Ruri spoke of him to Niro was not surprising to Heath at the least, she loved that feline just about as much as she loved Heath. We all get caught up in things, Ruri and I certainly understand that. At times the pair got so wrapped up in each other it was as if there was no other living beings on the planet. Well your not too late for to visit. Heath was away often, sometimes over night and he appreciated anyone that came by to see his mate and keep her company. Due to her blindness the fey opted to stay around the cabin, so visitors were always welcome.

The male gave a small chuckle, not even thinking that the other male might be feeling out of place just standing around. But then, Heath would have said the very same thing. Sorry, didn’t mean to hog all the work. He gave with a laugh; an obvious joke. Heath was not one to make friend easily, but his need for them was making it come a bit more naturally. Haven was the only one that he had called friend for some time, but Anann had opened his eyes up to the possibility of more then just one. He felt it easy to joke around with Niro, finding him just laid back enough to make Heath comfortable. Lum began to wander away, Heath clicked his tongue to call her but then strode over to the large mare to gather another spool of wire from one of the packs strapped to her in a more timely manner.

String the wire along the bottom part of the post, might want to use those gloves. Heath instructed as he handed the male the wire. He would come behind the male to tighten it around the hooks with the pliers to secure it. Have you met many outside of the packlands? There are a few good leaders out there… Heath spoke up, drawing the conversation back away from the task at hand.

Then I’ll make it a point to visit Ruri soon then I’m sure.

Niro said, he was pleased to know that he was welcome to visiting Ruri, he had no fears that he would be thought of as trying to actually like the blind wolf more than a friend, it never even crossed his mind, whenever anything of the sort came into his head it more about the young Liliya, Rurik’s daughter. He had yet to tell anyone of his affections for the young wolf girl. He laughed at Heath’s little jok and waited as he got more wire and handed it to Niro, Niro did as he was told, taking his leather gloves out and pulling the wire out so he could get it around the post.

How’s this?

He asked, he was still a little unsure of himself with new things and felt a little direction was a good thing.

I have met a few wolves that were outside the pack, but I have yet to meet any of the leaders. I will have to eventually, if I want to get on with messenger birds.

He said the last part a little absently said, he knew he’d try to get to see the leaders of a few packs, he’d have to talk with their own king about it first, he wasn’t sure who they were allied with or if they even had any enemies. He’d figured out that the packs around them were not entirely peaceful only recently. He still felt more secure in the miracles pack right now anyway, and he only skirted the borders. Only once did he find himself way too far out, and he’d gotten lost. He didn’t want that to happen.

But for now I’ve been really sticking to the packlands,

He said not wanting to mention his own insecurity about leaving, alone at least. He’d quickly follow his sister in a heartbeat if he could. And surely would when she decided to move along to another adventure of hers, he was happy that she stayed here though, he liked this pack they took care of him, and let him take care of them.

Heath smiled, glad that his friend would visit his mate. In the end Heath never even spoke of Ruri to those that he did not trust. The female knew how to defend herself, but only to a point. The male did not believe her to be powerless, but she was fragile in spirit and body. Having others that could protect her at her side when he was not there was a something that Heath looked for often. Of course there was no worry that his mate might be swooning over another, he owned more confidence in himself and trust in Ruri to believe that they would be mated for the rest of their years. Just as he did not worry about being such close friends with Anann. Great. Heath gave Niro with more emphasis and exclamation then normal.

Golden hued eyes watched the other male as he worked, That’s good, cause I’ll come around and tighten them like this. Heath stood beside the gray and silver male and worked the pliers so that the wire was twisted around itself to hold the loop. Now just do the same to the next. Heath generally worked alone, but since Anann had come to the pack the male was getting used to being in a team situation. Though he was always more talkative in a smaller crowd.

A nod was given as Heath listened and worked simultaneously. His interest was peaked instantly at the idea of messenger birds. Crimson Dreams and Aniwaya have always been friendly, any members that I have met at least. Of course the Dreamer leader was not fond of him, though his feelings for the black furred fey were changing since Ruri had told him of their pleasant meeting. Heath wished to tell Niro to stay away from the Valley pack, for their leader was his father and also a murderer. But such beliefs were not shared by all and so Heath kept quiet. Do you mean between the packs? So we can communicate? Heath wondered aloud, hoping to quell his negative thoughts about Jefferson.

Heath could understand the wish to remain inside the boundaries of their home, it was not an unpleasant choice at the least. But just in case, If you ever wish to venture out, I could lend you a horse. Heath spoke, more then happy to extended the small bit that he was able to give to a fellow pack mate.

Niro brightened at the compliment and the new thing he was being taught, as he moved to the other post after he watched Heath use the pliers, he could see what it would turn out to look like and it would be easy enough. He then wrapped the wire around the other post, listening as Heath gave him hints of who was friendly with Cour des Miracles. It was surely good to know, he’d still try to brave some of the other packs as well, except Inferni, which he had learned were less than friendly to wolves.

Yes at least important messages, that way if something new is discovered or some big fight breaks out, they might be able to help or vice versa.

He said, thinking of how many birds it would have to take to train up enough as messangers. He’d definitely have to spend a good amount of time away from the miracles pack once in a while, not to mention making sure the birds were well after they were trained.

It might be a lot of work for me though I know that much.

He froze at the mention of a horse, and looked back, they were beautiful enough, and he’d pet them, but to ride one? He looked at Heath, who seemed more than happy to let Niro use a horse, and smiled weakly.

I don’t even know how to ride one.

He admitted, he’d refused Anann to teach him only because he’d be learning a bit from her already, she’d taught him how to do some leather working and was also going to teach him self defenses, well it was still planned, for an eventual date, but Niro had been so busy as of late with the two birds he had to be reminded of that.

The loner in Heath would never be lost, and because of his once wandering ways he had seen much of the region. Of course he had been lost then, alone and no doubt looking for something and someone. But it had shown him almost everything, and because of that he had learned so many things about the lands of 'Souls. To not venture out, and to not go beyond what one was comfortable with was almost a waste of useful legs.

Heath liked the idea, and though he did not have a specific being that he wished to communicate with from another pack the notion of it was initiative and quite smart. You should speak to Vigil about this, he will be interested I am sure. The Marshal was impressed and he was certain that their King would be just as keen on the idea. I have only worked with horses, but I could help you as well if you need it. Heath didn't mind, if it was for the bettering of the pack more responsibility was a honor.

What he said might have felt like a confession to the Niro, but Heath took it only as a new bit of knowledge. Something that he had yet to learn about the mohawked male. Oh, Heath spoke, only slight surprise in his tone. Black fingers worked the pliers, his other lighter hand holding the wire that was twisted around the post. I could teach you. His tone was a bit of matter of fact, just casual. Heath moved beside Niro, the two just working along the fence. If you ever want to ride He had done it before for others. It did not take long, when a trained horse is used. But if Niro was a wolf of the ground, and enjoyed all paws on the ground Heath could do nothing but respect that.

Niro nodded at Heath, he’d already thought of that, he knew Vigil might like the idea, but he’d wait for now the King was busy at the moment… and so was Niro for that matter. He’d get to it soon enough, there was no hurry, at least he hoped there wasn’t. He beamed at the thought of some help with the birds, even if it meant giving them some food at the end of the day or something like letting them exercise their wings if they hadn’t been out all day, but he wouldn’t trust just anyone to that.

It would be a pleasure if you really want to help. I may have my hands more full once I get more birds, I’d probably need help with feedings and if you’re interested teach you how to possibly even exercise a bird or two.

This got him too excited and he shut his mouth and took a few deep breaths, again listening to Heath, and his offer to teach him to ride a horse. He wasn’t afraid of it, but he was quite apprehensive. Although this is the wolf that helped him by holding onto a rope while he shimmeyed down it, with over a fifty foot drop, he didn’t let him fall once. That thought stuck to his head as he stared at Heath’s horse, then he smiled.

I guess trying wouldn’t hurt any at all.

He said, then pulled the wire tight so that Heath could clip it off, so that they could continue the work on the upper post. This was what he was sure he was made for, except of course… hunting. The two best things he was good at, and soon his work with his hands, by catching and training wild birds would mingle in with his ability to hunt, and catch different types of preys. He shook his head at getting distracted and watched as Heath finished up his part, waiting patiently for the wire to be cut.
