To dance in the fields

(Saluce is in Lupus form, and go. Also I fully intend on saluce not even making it worth while to hunt, just figured it would be a silly thing for the hurt wolf to want to do)

The wolf sat calmly on the rise overlooking the ocean. He had still chosen to stay within dahlia lands, his heart was screaming at him to stay while his mind continued to battle with him about wanting to move west word. True it was still too early for him to go on any trip. His back right leg was still healing and only half as strong as it should be, or rather as strong as he wanted it to be before he would continue such a journey. The wolf hadn’t even traveled far from what he gathered was connor’s house before tiring at the overlook. He was out of shape and that thought almost made his nose twist up in anger. Soon though he would retake his former workout routine and soon he would be back to his once war time shape if he didn’t let melancholy and laziness seep into his life. With a short sigh the regal looking wolf sat there on his haunches ignoring his leg’s protests for the moment, letting his icy hues look off at the ocean.

Saluce shook his head as if trying to wake himself before standing back on all fours having come to enjoy his lupus form since taking it a week ago. For once in his life he seemed to be at home in this form, the beautiful landscape reminded him a lot of home and it was only fitting that he enjoyed it closer to the ground. Nostrils flared as the canine took in the scents close to the ground, ears perk and alert as if he was looking for a tasty morsel to pluck out of the ground. True hunting such small prey was more counterproductive for such a large wolf, too much energy wasted verses gained but he was feeling somewhat playful and the scent of a rabbit was too much not to waste.
With a practiced stalk the wolf kept himself low to the ground as he followed the scent, ears alert for any sound that would ring like alarm bells to where his chosen prey might be hiding. Saluce would have to be smart, he didn’t have a good hind leg to pounce with, nor could he run very hard so the big wolf had to rely on a talent he hadn’t much used since he was a pup, surprise…

There were still days where he could walk through the Dahlian territory and drown in its beauty. The name fitted the pack well in this season. The world exploded into a large variety of colours, and air sweetened by the summery season was fresh and flowery. They had the best from both worlds. Even in the town, nature flourished and ate away the remaining concrete. Many buildings stood their ground, however, and ended up as home to the new dominant race. Soothed by the knowledge that Bris was monitoring the children’s whereabouts, the male slipped away and awarded himself some time alone. It was a wonderful way to sort out thoughts and matters, and as the day had been rather lazy until this point, it felt really good to be able to stretch his legs. While most of the man’s hobbies required the optime form, he often switched to the four legged one.

His pace was relaxed, and the path before him was not set out. He knew this territory in and out, and so he went on autopilot.

Nayru is gonna join too :3 And lol, it's a Conor!

Gideon had been working on digging the tunnel for a good long time now and was very excited to show Nayru. He had been hanging around the house a lot lately, playing with his siblings and learning from his aunt Bris, but in his spare time he'd been working on a very interesting project. He had found a natural barrier of rocks and vines that had been impossible for him to cross over. It had been so entangled, in a huge mass, that he hadn't even been able to see through it! So he had come up with the idea of digging a tunnel beneath the wall to get to the other side.

He was almost through to the other side, too. Gideon wanted to share the experience with her, of seeing what was on the other side. It could be really interesting! Maybe it was some kind of a secret garden or a place untouched by humans or wolves alike! The whelp was intent on getting to the hole and wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings as he chatted to the older pup next to him. "Dis is a surprise! Wanted to shows you it first, be da first one ta see it!" He said.

This is a strange beginning to this thread I feel. 337

Nayru's excitement and enthusiasm for Gideon's project was not false. The cow patterned girl liked all the pups that she resided with but Gideon was different. The older ones she saw rarely and had not bonded with and Gideon's siblings were new faces for her, she hadn't even met them properly. Gideon however held a soft spot in Nayru's heart. The absence of her sisters had not left a void, but had there been one Gideon's presence would have filled it. Since the day when the two of them had met King she had decided she greatly preferred Gideon. He had become a playmate, a confidant and a friend and so when he asked her to see what he had been working on she readily agreed.

However as she trailed along with Gideon she caught a sttrange scent on the breeze. Gideon seemed to have a literal case of tunnel vision and so Nayru made a soft clicking sound to get him to pause with her and change course just slightly. They had nearly reached their destination but something was off and being ever vigilant Nayru had to find out. Moving smoothly she came closer and the scent became stronger, it was a stranger to her and to Dahlia. Casting her blood colored eyes to Gideon she inhaled sharply, as if to impose the importance of silence. Her silence did not last long, for before she could even find the source of the strange scent she also caught that of Conor's and she chuckled with glee, but just soft enough for Gideon's ears only. Surely if they kept moving forward all four would collide soon and so Nayru paused, crouching close to Gideon in underbrush, as it provided good coverage for a pup and half grown wolf. Nayru kept her eyes on the clearing, sure that one or the other or both adults would soon come into the clearing and into her eyes sight, then her and Gideon could pounce and wouldn't the adults feel like fools?

(well, this thread has become promising! sorry for teh suck, so much going on and so little to reply to)

As saluce continued to stalk the scent his ears started picking up on the soft beating of pads upon ground. Knowing his little game was nothing more than wishful thinking he let his head poke up above the tall grass to look around. It wasn’t that hard of a feat for his tall frame but still his eyes searched around with a curious look to them wondering if someone else was after him. Having seen nothing so far he went back to stalking, the trail was a couple of hours old so he was pretty sure he would be stalking for quite some time before his quarry would be near enough to him.

The aristocratic wolf kept sneaking along until his hears caught those sounds again and again his head raised. This time his eyes caught another male wolf. He recognized the scent more than he did the form since he had only known of him mostly from being shocked awake when a bandage was changed or from his first encounter with him. Saluce sat there for a moment considering if he would stay and have a chat with this guy. He did after all in the most cliché of it all save his life. So forgetting the rabbit his voice broke the silence with a soft “Hello” that hinted at his former French heritage. “Beautiful land, reminds me of Normandy”

He had not expected to run into the injured loner at this time, but it happened nevertheless. Their eyes connected and the alpha had to flash an apologetic smile. Hopefully he was not intruding on the man’s solitude. Automatically, that lavender gaze sought out the bandaged limb. The other male was up and moving already, so this was a good sign. The yearling was slightly worried about what too much movement could do to the healing bone, but the other man was not an idiot. Surely he took care to make sure not to go too hard out on the healing fracture. The caramel coated wolf approached further, taking a seat by the blue eyed canine.

A greeting sounded and Conor responded with his own. ”Hey there.” Ears stood attention as the man spoke of a place foreign to his young mind. The accent the other male bore spoke of travel and distant shores. In several ways, Conor envied the man. He would give much to travel the world and see its wonders. Yet, here he was, and he quite doubted his foolish dreams would come true. There was too much for him here. His life belonged to Dahlia and the souls that lived here with him. Perhaps he would have enjoyed being a traveller, but there was happiness for him here as well. He was not willing to let go of what he had. The grass was not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence.

”What is Normandy like,” the male asked softly, wondering if any place could be as beautiful as this home. Dahlia was truly blessed, and magnificent in the summer when life flourished.

The pup was so focused on his task that it took a redirection from Nayru for him to realize that something was up. He looked puzzled for a moment before lifting his nose to sniff at the air a bit. It smelled different, but he hadn't yet learned all of the scents of the pack...he couldn't distinguish them very well. He looked at Nayru, watching her for cues. She seemed to know who it was, and led him to an area that overlooked the path that the other two wolves had taken.

He stopped next to the black and white wolf, turquoise gaze fixed on the clearing. The adults had entered it, but what did she want him to do, exactly? She had what looked like a playful sort of gleam in her eyes--did she mean for Gideon and her to ambush the adults?! He wasn't too sure about this idea and looked at her hesitantly, but her excitement soon spread to the younger pup. His tail wagged and he crouched down next to her, preparing to leap out toward the adults. Aha!

Nayru could feel Gideon’s hesitation, she could read it on the look he gave her. Encouragingly she nudged the younger one and turned back to the task at hand. Her muscles tensed and her blood colored eyes became alert, but not as alert as her nose and ears. The male voices floated over them, the words boring to Nayru who had no care for Normandy, whatever that was. Yet neither of them suspected the pups, that was what was important. Perhaps just as important was the fact Nayru recognized the signs that told her so. No swivel of the ear to indicate they had heard the rustle earth beneath the puppies’ feet. No twitch of the nose to indicate that their scent had reached the adults. Still so young but already she took the time to read others like a scholar reads a book.

Conor and the stranger were relaxed and now the time was ripe. With a quick glance Nayru nodded to Gideon and led the charge, her lanky legs taking her swiftly towards the pair of grown males, her body almost soundless until she was already almost upon them. Nayru did not know much at that moment except she was as close to being a streak of pure movement, colored pure black and white, as she had ever been. Once she was near enough that she could spring them and touch them Nayru let her lungs exhale into some sort of hunting cry, the sound pure animal with only instinctive communication behind it. And then she allowed herself to topple in a heap at the feet of Conor, bracing herself in case Gideon too decided to use their alpha’s feet as a landing pad.

Looking up into Conor’s lavender eyes, feeling he was too kind to do anything but laugh at her childish antics that were becoming less common, she offered only one words of explanation. "Practice." As if her own word woke her from a dream Nayru remembered herself, that she was no longer quite the child she acted like and that even with Gideon as a playmate and an excuse she was being far too silly for the virgin eyes of someone who knew her not at all. With a start of embarrassment the girl righted herself and turned towards the stranger. With a graceful and practiced bow of her head she murmured in her soft, subtle voice "Excuse me sir."

ugh sorry james, wasn't sure how to react to your character since nayru took the lead. I assumed he was still lurkin. Btw lovin the thread Smile

The young male seemed genuinely interested in what Saluce spoke of and almost automatically he liked this wolf. He hadn’t had much chance to speak with this wolf or be around him the last few weeks and he still had no clue who the alpha or leader of this pack was as of yet so he sat there looking about peacefully. The younger male had asked him about his homeland, if he had been in optime form with his pack he would have brought out a book and pointed to the coastline and features. But he wasn’t and he truthfully didn’t remember where his pack was located after the fall. He had thankfully glanced at his swords in the room that he had taken up residence in but his dagger was still missing as well.

“Normandy is similar to this beau rivage” He spoke the last bit in the little French he still possessed meaning beautiful shoreline. “After the cliffs and beaches the country side is softly hilled and covered with huge fence lines of bushes and trees. It’s very difficult to describe since I haven’t visited it since I was a pup”.

Saluce didn’t have much time though to talk with the friendly wolf because his ears flicked nervously as an approaching sound echoed across them. The young pups advance was hidden nearly until they were on top of them but Saluce reacted quickly in a foreign land, his good hind leg kicked himself back up to all fours and instantly he turned toward the oncoming pup. As he turned his eyes looked upon the barreling pup with surprise as she pounced toward Connor having already successfully caught two adults by surprise she was indeed growing up fast. He sensed another though although his eyes couldn’t see her accomplice yet. The beautiful little pup spoke fondly of Connor before turning to him and he couldn’t help but let his lips curl back in an awkward wolf like smile before he dipped his head in response.

“Your excused little one” he replied with a soft hint of laughter

LIBRI FAILS KKTHNXBYEQ_Q

The young male could hardly guess what the lands beyond the great ocean looked like. Thanks to human literature and photos, he had some idea of how the different corners of the world looked. Yet he had never seen these sights with his own eyes, and knew that he could not fully judge the beauty that the frozen images spoke of. Foreign words sounded in his caramel hued years, but he understood enough to nod. Was Normandy similar to Dahlia’s flourishing lands? If so, he knew with certainty that Saluce’s homeland was a beautiful one. The alpha smiled at the words of the other, imagining the scenery as Saluce described. ”It sounds like a beautiful place,” he said. He wondered why the male had abandoned the lands where he grew up, but focus shifted to the two approaching little beasts.

Both adults seemed to be taken by surprise. Lavender eyes widened for a moment and his form instantly backpedalled as the little female’s body jumped down in front of him. A few moments were all it took before his puzzled face was broken up with genuine laughter. ”You crazy kids,” his voice spilled, white tipped tail dancing behind his golden form. He would not hide the fact that he was impressed by their ability to sneak up on them. Conor and Saluce had been distracted by conversation, but it was well done for two minors to sneak up on them like that. He had gone for the walk to get some peace, but it was too obvious that he would not get any. He was not disappointed at all, for there was so much joy in their company. ”Have you started hunting wolves now?” he asked the two younger Dahlians, an amused smile dancing upon dark lips.

They had definitely caught the adults by surprise! A large grin graced the youngster's face as he lept from the brush alongside Nayru. He bared his teeth and yipped playfully when he landed, tail wagging furiously, eyes holding an excited gleam. He could barely believe that they had gotten the best of Conor and Saluce either! He looked between the two adults, relaxing a bit as the conversation began. Now was not the time to play, he could sense. Sometimes Gideon had trouble differentiating.

He smiled and nodded when Conor asked him if they were hunting wolves now. What was the word for someone who ate ones of their own kind? Cannon-balls? "I'm a Cannon-ball! I only eat wolf now! I crave wolf bloooood!" He said, flashing his canines quickly at the leader. He only allowed his lip to raise for a moment, though, still mindful of the authority that the other held.

omg James, Gideon is adorable.

Their antics were met with approval by the adults; Conor’s loving gaze graced her and Gideon and the other male seemed amused by them as well. Relief flooded her and she flashed a happy grin to Gideon, her partner in crime, at a job well done. If ever she felt that they made a good team this was proof of it, so well they had communicated and executed the plan with no spoken words between them. They would be unstoppable in the future, if their fun and games was anything to go by, and Nayru felt her confidence swell, not only in herself but feeling more secure in her friendship with Gideon. Perhaps she had not bonded too well with the older pups, and even King who was almost exactly her age proved a poor companion, but Gideon more than made up for that.

A giggle escaped her at Gideon’s speech, for Nayru knew that cannon-ball was not the right word, though she couldn’t speak the correct one. It was all just in jest, and Nayru knew neither her nor Gideon indulged in the flesh of fellow wolves, least of all their revered alpha. Hesitantly she caught the eyes of the stranger. "My name’s Nayru and this is Gideon and we are expert wolf hunters." Normally her need for properness wouldn’t permit such a playful introduction, but the thrill of the game still gripped her. The black blotched wolf wiggled next to Gideon, expelling the last excitement of the chase out of her body, and settling down beside the younger boy, waiting for direction from the adults.

Couldn't really come up with anything, horrible post

He almost allowed himself to laugh at the young males excited chirps about wolf flesh but too much in the big wolf remembered his own acts of rending flesh. The comment hit home almost too closely for comfort but if anyone noticed the change in his mood it was only fleeting as he let himself forget it. The young wolves would soon learn how to put their talents to use and so he wondered just what they would choose to do with them.

“Be careful who you sneak up on, sometimes other wolves may not react so kindly” the smile was almost forced as he looked over the two of them. Eyes moved over the older female to the younger male and back again before looking over at Connor. Saluce finally allowed himself to sit down to let his leg rest from the exercise.
