p. Denali ^^

set after this thread

He had been sitting on the porch for a small bit of time. Having freed himself from the confines of the Manor Alder was now completely overwhelmed. The world looked much smaller when he was beside his mother, or entangled in her legs or even just with his brothers. Now, alone, it was huge. The same font yard sat in front of the porch, a place he had played so many times before and yet… it seemed like an ocean of green ready to swallow him up if he happened to step onto it. The forest beyond was dark in the early morning light, and he was very unsure if he would ever leave the porch. Maybe when he was bigger, stronger and could defend himself from the monsters that lurked in the shade of the large trees. He had been told to not be afraid, been told that it was safe within the boundaries of their pack, but he was still unsure where those were. With an uneasy look on his masked face the tree-named male sat with his eyes on the outside.

It was early, and the birds chirped at him. They had been his original quarry, and now that he had made it out the big door (for that was quite the accomplishment) Alder could see their small bodies zip and zoom beyond his nose. They perched in trees, sitting so gracefully on even the thinnest of branches and then sprang from it with almost impossible agility. They drew a smile out of him, the sparrows and finches mingling and tweeting away as if Alder would understand. He didn’t, grumbling a puppy noise at them in the hopes that they would turn to speaking the language he was used to. But they didn’t hear him. They kept swirling through the air, flying from one tree to a red dotted bush and then back to another tree. He growled again, trying so hard to be brave, but it came as a deep whine instead.

A bark, forgetting that there might be someone around to hear and thus scold him, brought Alder to his large dark paws and he stepped down the few steps that it took to get to the soft ground. Carefully he made his way, then looked up to see if they had heard him yet.

WC: 301 (3 Points) OOC: OMG Alder is soooo cute, and I soooooo awweed at your post!! EDIT: I edited it cause uh i though this was a Savina pup hahahaha, if i missed anything poke me Tongue shaw is just silly

Denali was starting to get used to the pack, somewhat, but he wasn’t sure why his parents hadn’t come. What kept them from getting him? Why did he have to wait so long for his parents to come, take him back, give him hugs and kisses and tell him he was good for waiting for them? He’d spent nights sleeping with Savina and her puppies, but during the daytime when they napped Denali preferred to be alone just until his parents came, he didn't want to get too attached to anyone here. Today he could be found under the porch, he’d found a way to squeeze under it. Just big enough for a puppy his size. He had gotten a decent amount of sleep, so when he was woken up by the bark, he wasn’t unhappy at all, instead he was curious, who was it? He squeezed through the hole under the porch to see one of Anu’s pups looking at the birds. Denali had learned about them too, the pesky things loved to tease him. They were much more free to do as they pleased since they could fly. He had been formally introduced to some the pups around here, but Denali never had the chance to really get to know any of them, when he got up in the morning he’d be gone, out to the borders of the lands, waiting for his parents. He couldn’t remember how long it had been since he lost them, the days all meshed together for him now. But that wasn’t on his mind, he was curious at what Alder was doing.

What’r you up to?

Denali asked, casually. He had watched birds before, did he get this excited? Well it was still fun to watch the teasers at work, even though some had started on him, flying around their heads. Birds were just silly.

^^

He didn't understand what made then whirl around in the air. They used their front paws which weren't really paws at all. Their shape was too different to make then anything like the things that walked on the ground of the things that swam in the lake. Was it the air that pushed them along? Alder could hardly contain the questions, speaking his unknowing in a long whine just as he would if they had the face of his mother. She understood that he didn’t know what the answer was when he made that noise, and then he would politely speak it the best he could and she would give him the full and complete answer. She was smart and knew everything he did not. She would know this too, but she was sleeping or was she off doing those things that made her a grown-up. Alder looked around, just in case she was standing behind him quietly as she sometimes did. But she wasn’t there, and his blue eyes looked back up to the tree, his curiosity turning to frustration ever so steadily.

Then a voice made him turn around. The little male put his rump on the ground, his tail following the rest of his body and becoming still and unmoving. Blue eyes looked at the older pup and then looked away and into the woodland floor below him. He was listening, though avoided anything that might rise a reaction from the other. Alder turned his cheek to the nameless Dreamer, to keep any idea of even a playful challenge from being given to him. He should know who he was, for he smelt of the alpha and her puppies and so he must be one as well, but until recently he had been just looking from afar. He didn’t need to know anyone’s names, his mother took care of that cataloging. But, again, she was not here.

Theres are some bwirds. he spoke, giving the tawny boy as glance of his blue water hued gaze. Averting them once again he looked to the tree and tried to gain some composure and some courage. He liked to play, he liked the idea of friends and he wanted to show him that he was friendly just as everyone else was. I’mmm Alder. he turned his face once again, remembering what his mother had said again and again, he had a voice and he needed to use it.

WC:336 (3 Points) OOC: Denali’s weird, Big Grin

The pup seemed rather shy, and reserved, but from the looks of things Denali knew he was curious. He could tell it in the wolf’s eyes. The shading wasn’t normal to what Denali was use to seeing, his parents had always had the darker shade of grey, and his new caretaker, her’s were slightly lighter grey, but this pups they were a light grey, that caught Denali’s attention. But the pup kept looking down. Why would he do such a thing like that?

Do I got something on my nose?

He asked curiously, trying to rub whatever invisible thing was on his nose. At Alder’s introduction, Denali smiled, and wagged his tail,

I’m Denali. The birds, they like to tease a lot.

Denali said matter of factly. He wasn’t going to claim that he knew everything about birds, in fact he probably didn’t know any more than Alder did. He just knew only a few things, one, they defied wolve’s perceptions by flying, and another they teased…. That was all they did was tease. It made Denali grumpy sometimes when they did that. But Alder seemed to want a little push to talk, and there might be a wrestling match in it sometime soon. Denali knew he was older, and he’d make sure to not hurt the other puppy, but he loved having a playmate here or there now that he’d found one already, maybe this one could be his playmate too.

Where’s your mom?

Denali asked out of the blue all of a sudden. He wanted to always make sure that he was the only one who lost their parents. He knew they’d come find him though it was only a matter of time. However long it would take he’d wait for them. Not by the borders all the time, but they would seek him out and take him home, but he wanted to make sure that the other pups around here had their mothers. He knew the grown ups could do what they wanted.

i like him :3

Alder shook his head feverously at the question, but did not speak to answer him. He wasn’t sure what to say, since the male didn’t have anything at all on his snout. Did he feel something? Did the pup not see it from there? Alder asked the questions silently and then looked a bit closer and then shook his head once more to confirm that there was nothing at all.

Denali, the tree-named pup would remember his name and placed it right along side of the scent and the coloring as well as his eyes. He would remember, Alder made sure of it. Thinking hard to make sure that he would not forget. Everything told him that Denali was one of Savina’s puppies, all of which he had only really seen from afar. He had hid behind his mother whenever anyone was around but, no one was here to give him legs to hide behind.

At his inviting gestures Alder felt a bit better, and felt his tummy butterflies begin to dissipate. He would have still felt better if his mother had been around to tell him it was okay. But then again, he was on his own. Yeah, they do do that. he agreed, pouting slightly as he looked back up at the tree. They still fluttered and chirped even with the two pups making such a frightening racket. Though Alder figured one needed to be fearless in order to fly. It was easier to look at the taller youth now, but his eyes did not meet Denali’s for long.

The masked boy looked around at the question, searching for his mother but did not find her. Then he remembered, I fink shes sleepin’. he wondered about the black furred and green eyed alpha, and then wondered what it was like to be the alpha’s pup. Wheres yurs?

the pup seemed so shy, but it was a concept Denali knew little of, he knew he felt… well unwilling to talk to all the wolves around, but to him that wasn’t shyness it was not wanting to do something. Did Alder not want to talk? It seemed he didn’t want to look at him. He poked a paw at the puppy.

I seen my da jump and catch a bird once, so they ain’t always that tricky.

He told the pup reassuringly. It had been the truth but only happened one time. He guessed the pesky bird was just too pesky and his dad had to show the bird a lesson. Unfortunately it was its last lesson. The question about Denali came as expected. He tried to be ready though but he wasn’t . He wasn’t tear filled like he normally was. But a sadness washed over him. It had been too many days since he’d seen his mother. He was relying more on Savina now, with her pups. He blinked a few times.

She’s coming for me, her and da, they will find me.

These were the same words he spoke to everyone. Except this time.. he wasn’t so sure of himself. They’d been gone so long. Were they dead like that coyote? Or had they forgotten about him? He hadn’t forgotten about them. They would… what was it they would do again? Denali shrugged it off, he wasn’t going to feel sorry for himself He was glad the pup knew his mother was around, and hoped it would stay that way. He smiled, perking up a little.

I have been learning games here, do you know any you could teach me?

He asked suddenly, his brain wanted to get his mind of the parents he was possibly going to see again, the thought that they hadn’t come yet had angered him and made him feel sad all at the same time.

He didn’t understand that what he felt was a sort of shyness. He only did what was natural for him. He knew what his Momma had told him about addressing other packmates, and knew that it was safe and okay to speak with anyone that wore the scent of his fellow Dreamers. But it was a feeling that he could not subdue, and his reactions to the other young male were simply what his instinct told him. They said that it was best not to look another in the eye, it was best to keep his ears low and his face away.

But the fellow pup was certainly helping to ease his overly protective and skittish nature. His story was curiosity inducing, and because it was relative to the birds that he had chased since morning’s break and easy for him to talk about. Wreally? He asked with bright eyes, was this the white and cream hued male that he thought to be his father? A father was something Alder did not have, but he figured there were pups that didn’t have a mother, and so all things balanced out some how. He was a bit more excited, blue eyes bright and looked at the other male fearlessly now.

What Denali spoke next confused him greatly. He didn’t understand what he meant, for he tagged along with the other Marino and Sadira pups that he had seen, and he scent spoke of the relation. Your Momma is the Savwinah He said, confusion evident in his tone. His own Momma spoke of this black wolfess often, and how respect must be given to the wolfess before addressing any other. He felt a bit embarrassed that he had been wrong, or so it seemed. Alder looked at the ground, shuffling his paw at the muddled information that he had assumed and what the other boy now told him.

I like to play tag, he said, the conversation turning suddenly but without much concern of the masked boy. and race, and and… The tree-named pup trailed, thinking of his very favorite and most secret of game. pretend.

WC: ---

He liked Alder already, he was quiet, but he seemed interested in talking to Denali, and he knew he was older than the young pup so he knew he had to put up a good example. He smiled at the puppy when he seemed intrigued with his short story.

Oh yeah! He can jump pretty high,
he said, he tilted his head after listening to the confused pups comment. Now why whould he think such a thing?

Mmmm mmm, she is acting like a mommy till mine comes back.

He said trying to explain as best he could. It was true she was acting like a very good mommy, feeding him, and letting him snuggle with her and her pups at night. It was almost better than being with his parents, especially that he had playmates. Even the pups that weren’t hers were really nice. His ears perked at the word tag, he’d learned that game, but pretend… he’d never heard of that one.

What’s pretend? How do you play it?

He was wagging his tail, he decided he really liked Alder, for all that he didn’t talk that much. But maybe he would soon. He liked everyone here. Well he was scuffed by that dark male but he didn’t blame him… well he did so he liked all the puppies around then. That’s it he wanted to play with all of the puppies. He definitely wanted to learn this pretend thing, maybe it was funner than tag? Or chase. Or stick, a game his parents played with him.

^^

Despite his shy nature Alder liked mostly everyone. He was still young but all those he had met were considered his friends, and then of course he had his family. But even though they were his friends the pup still felt that cheek burning blush when they addressed him, and it took a few moments before he got over the hump so could speak comfortably with them. Denali was easy to talk to, good natured and didn’t pick on him. Alder liked that, since even though he was bigger then his brother they still had a sharper tongue and were better wrestlers.

The masked pup wondered how high was pretty high. As high as that branch, or the branch above it, he wondered as he looked at the near by tree. But his question was forgotten as the other youth corrected his belief. His eyes went wide for a second and his ears dipped as he thought about how wrong he had been. It made much more sense now, and his first lesson of assumption was set deep in his memory. Oh, He said shamefully, sure that the pup would not like him any longer and would leave. She’ll come soon. He assured him, ignoring the folly and trying to encourage a more positive outlook.

Pretend! Yes, that would be a much better subject to talk about and Alder looked a bit brighter as he thought of the words to explain this game. Its when j’ou think your someone that j’ou aren’t Blue orbs blinked as he looked to the brown hued boy for his reaction, but instead of waiting he figured that he might as well show him. Alder bent his knees and gave a bounce on his big paws, then again and this time moving slightly forward. See he called as he hopped again and then again, I’ms a bunny! Alder put all his effort into doing his very best rabbit impression, hoping that Denali wouldn’t think him unbelievable.

OOC: hehehe do the bunny hop!!

Denali felt bad that Alder was sad, but he seemed to perk up when he asked about the pretend game, and Alder explained it and started hopping around. Denali had a big grin on his face. this was funny! He liked it.

Oh I can be a bunny too!

He said, and he tried hopping like Alder, but tripped over his feet. He felt his face grow hot as he stood back up, he bit his lip.

Ok I think that was a clumsy one. I can do it though!

He said, this time he took his time about hopping, thinking of how Alder was doing it and then jumped. He was surprised when he landed on his feet this time. Although he didn’t think he looked like a rabbit when he did jump. He tried again, and again.

I’mma bunny!

He said giggling as he jumped around the yard. This was a fun game. He bounced around Alder proud that he could do it.

lulz

Sometimes his brothers laughed at him. Momma said they were laughing with him, when he did something funny. She never laughed though and if she didn't find it funny neither did Alder. Of course he loved them all the same, forgiving their small giggles and innocent taunts easily. They were never too mean, their mother had taught them to be better then that. Of course some might see pretending to be a bunny to be silly, and Alder was glad to see that when he looked back at the deep cinnamon hued boy he found that he was also beginning to pretend as well! But with little initial success.

Alder hopped over to the fallen pup, worried that he was hurt. But he was brave and got to his paws to try it again. The masked male found it quiet inspirational, knowing that if he had fallen he wouldn't have gotten back up to try again. He would have figured that he couldn't do it and would certainly have given up or tried something different. But Denali got the hang of it with another try, and the round tree-pup bounced around with the other male doing the same.

Yeah!! He said enthusiastically, jumping now with all his might. He closed his eyes each time his paws fell on the ground, preparing to hop into the air once again. He liked the funny feeling of hopping in the dark, and his eyes shut as he tried it a second time. He laughed, hopping and yet without seeing that he was gallivanting right towards Denali.

WC: --- OOC: the chipmunk table will make it all better!!

This was so much fun! he couldn’t remember the last time he had this much fun. he was laughing, in his own world, hopping around the grass, giggling profusely, he even did this twirl hop as they moved around and around. It was fun. but he was getting dizzy, and suddenly he ran into something solid, and fell down, owwww his head hurt so bad now. He didn’t cry. He was taught that crying did no good. He looked up and saw it had been Alder that had run into him. Uh oh!

You ok?

He asked, still laying sprawled n the ground, but his head was still spinning from twirling and then running into Alder. He just hped that Alder wasn’t hurt or anything.

lol!

Alder hopped and hopped and hopped again, but he lacked the coordination and the speed for when he opened his eyes and saw that he was in Denali’s way there was nothing he could do to stop himself. They collided, an ‘oof’ coming from both of them and then the large rounded pup was on the ground, his chest in pain and it hurt each time he tried to breath. The other pup’s head must had hit him there, though all he could truly think of was the pain and being down on the ground. The male’s small voice called to him and Alder opened his bright cobalt eyes and looked at the other’s face.

Of course he hadn’t planned on bumping into him like that, and was so very sorry. He didn’t say anything, unsure exactly what to say. Eyes burned with unshed tears and Alder tried to hold them back as best he could. He managed to get to his paws, the pain lessening. He would be okay, but the trauma of it all was making it hard for the pup to move on. Yeah, I finks. He spoke with a forced tone, talking didn’t hurt and neither did sitting. He thought that he might be okay in the end.

Are j’ou? he asked, looking at the paler brown pup. There was true concern in his tone, hoping that he was going to be okay. Alder could go get him Momma if he wasn’t or call someone to come fix him.

ooc...

Denali was glad to hear the pup was ok, but could see him on the verge of crying, but he seemed he didn’t want to cry in front of Denali. He didn’t blame him. Then he grinned, and pulled himself to his feet.

Guess what I am!

He said, and movedh is feet, one side together then the other side in exaggerated movements. And he growled a little, and tried to make a bear sound that turned out to be a puppy growl. He moved around Alder, to try to make the puppy laugh, making a few faces as he made the funny sounds.

give up yet?

He asked excitedly, but he didn’t waste any time to wait for a reply, he growled again, and giggled

I’m a bear!!

He said in hopes this would cheer up Alder and not get upset with the game because of their little accident.

muahahaha

His nose became stuffed, the tears filling the corners of his eyes and threatening to fall onto his cheeks. He didn’t want to, he really just wanted to be brave and strong and not show the other little male that it mattered if his booboo actually hurt. He wasn’t a little girl, but a boy and tough just like all the others. But the other pup didn’t seem phased by the small accident, getting to his paws and smiling. Alder didn’t expect that, especially the smile. He figured that the other male would be angry because of Alder’s stumbling and fall. But instead he just went right back to the game. It made it possible for Alder to do the same, smiling a little and watching Denali with now clear and bright eyes.

At the growl the large puppy’s ears fall backwards, still trying to find the clue and figure out what it was that the pup had become. It was hard, since he sounded like an angry wolf but then again he wasn’t moving like one. When his face changed Alder moved away from being slightly fearful and cracked a smile and gave a giggle as he continued. He nodded at Denali’s question, his eyes were closed slightly since his smile had grown and his cheeks puffed out with his laugh.

Oh, oh! He cried and hopped a little still laughing. Okays, me me! He exclaimed with a small cry, getting to his paws for his turn. He had been practicing this noise ever since he had met Rem, hoping to use it to speak with the horse. The neigh and whinny came form his nose and he pranced around the yard. His tail waved through the air, his imagination making it long and flowing while his paws were tough hoofs that clicked against the ground

WC: ---

He was happy that he was able to distract the younger pup, so instead of him on the verge of crying, he was now laughing and all excited over the impression Denali was making. He was proud of himself. He watched as Alder took his turn and watched closely, he could see a difference in the pups gait, and he heard a sound he had heard before, but he had never seen the animal that made such a sound. He put on his thinking face, although with a big smirk because Alder did look kinda funny.

I unnow.

He said truly stumped. Now he wanted to know what the animal he was impersonating. It might be a very interesting animal indeed. He’d met many but nothing that made that sound, and he could tell that Alder had been practicing it, because it didn’t sound like a wolf at all, he really hoped that Alder wouldn’t be too upset by him not knowing though.

short sort!

Oh he was so very sure that Rem would be able to understand him if he talked to him like this rather then in his puppy voice. He might even let him walked around with him like this, with tails swishing. With the new practice he was beginning to gain confidence, certain now that he looked at a real horse. When Denali didn’t say the answer right away the blue eyed boy looked at him and his smile faltered slightly. No? he asked as he came to a halt. Ears folded against his tan and brown crown for a second, then perked as he thought of something new.

With a sigh, Es a horse. he confessed, voice a bit hushed. But he looked at the brown pup for a prolonged moment his mouth and face looked with a question written on it. Has you seen ones? He sniffed, rubbing his dark against his black nose when it itched. Eyes looked brightly, full of wondering. He had met two horses, and they were huge and so exciting and interesting. They had long long long noses and tails that were like feathers and silk all together.

When he was grown up, the boy had concluded that he would also find a horse too.

ooc: short post is shoooort ; ;

At Alders answer Denali shook his head, still not sure what he was saying, a horse? He had never heard of such a thing before.

I never heard of a howrse

He admitted, although it seemed he probably should, maybe he’d see one around soon enough. He’d love to meet new things as long as they didn’t eat him.

Well since I don’t know that one you can do another one!

Denali said, he did feel bad that he made Alders prized pretend out to be something he didn’t know about. He hoped he’d be able to get this one. He use to be so sure he was good with animals that he knew them all. Alder had proved the puppy wrong.

sorry for the wait! <3

The large pup looked at the other, his face still and his eyes wide. he had never seen a horse? To Alder it was like meeting someone who hadn't seen sunshine or a rainbow. It was horrible. He grew a bit saddened by Denali's confession, though he didn't seem too sad about it himself Alder was still sad for him. A horse was simply the largest creature in the world, everyone who had seen one knew that. They also had the longest faces, the biggest noses, and the most exciting voices. No? Alder questioned, even though he understood so very well that the pup was telling the truth. My bruvfer has one. Maybes I could show you sometime. He said with a voice that was soft and quite eager to please the fellow pup.

At Denali's invitation the masked pup's ears fell to his head and he looked to the ground deep in thought. He had only really practiced his horse pretend, all the others were very weak and just made up when he was alone and not under the watch of any creature. His dark tipped paws ran across the ground, his thoughts mainly those that told him he would embarrass himself more then just concentrating on a new animal. They had done a bunny, and Denali had done a very good bear and now he had played out his best card with nothing to back it up.

Then something caught his eye, something against the green on the nearest overgrown patch of weeds and grass. Ear sprung forward, Oh myah goosh! I sees a snail!! The normally bashful and quiet boy exclaimed, running passed Denali and sinking down low to get a good look at the shelled creature. Look, loooook He beckoned his new friend, thin tail wagging behind him.

WC: 331 (3 Points) OOC:

Denali felt worse when the other pup seemed incredulous about his confession, but he looked up and smiled at the mention there was a horse nearby, and he nodded. An adventure! He loved adventures! He waited as it looked like Alder was trying to think of what to pretend to be next, but that was also interrupted when the pup’s eye had caught something and he yelled. Denali laughed as he scrambled to follow Alder to where he saw the snail, and there it was upside down … or was it sideways? Whatever it was it was neat, and it was on a leave moving slow. He’d seen a snail before, but he’d never ever seen one EATING!! He saw the leaf edges disappear right before his eyes, little tiny bits but he could see it. Snails ate?

Did you know they eat? I didn’t look at that!!!

He said his eyes watching the long stems of eyes move this way and that, the snail seemed oblivious that the pups were even there standing over it like two gigantic gods ready to pluck it from it’s food. He was wagging his own thick fluffy tail so hard that his butt was moving with it, this was as exciting as an adventure, they’d found a treasure. The snails shell pretty too, he stared as though it would disappear as soon as he looked away.

look it’s stems are going this way and that

he didn’t know they were the things eyes, he’d never paid attention to snails half as much as he was paying attention now. He wasn’t about to grab it either though, Alder saw it first and he would decide what they should do with the snail, but Denali wanted to see it hide in its shell so bad right now, and he knew it was really easy to make one do it too! Just poke it and it’ll hide. It was funny to see the things shrink into itself,
