What's that smell?

It seemed like most of his life had been spent within the walls of the manor and it had. Now it was time to explore the world beyond those walls. Now momma said they were old enough to go out on their own now. Though he wasn't suppose to stray far from the manor though and it was a rule he hadn't broken, yet. The orchard and gardens around the yard were more than enough too explore for the young pup. For now at least. It hadn't taken him long to find something to play with. Even if it was just a simple stick. Dead and brittle it cracked under the bite of his teeth. It splintered in mouth leaving chunks of wood and bark on his tongue. Yuck! He stuck tongue in and out, trying to get the bits of stick of his tongue.

Little bits of wood and bark still stuck to his tongue and mouth, no matter how much he licked and scraped his tongue on his teeth. His troubles were quickly forgotten as a grasshopper landed in front of him. He tilted his head as he looked at it with one ear perked. The bug shuffled its back legs funny as it folded its wings away. A playful growl rumbled in the pups chest, before he barked at the insect. It turned away from him before quickly jumping and flying away. A game! Cypress sprang after the grasshopper, chasing after it. Once he found it again, he gave it his best 'let's play' stance, with his butt in the air and his tail waving like some sort of banner. GRRrrrrrrRawrk! and the grasshopper took of again.

Cypress took after the grasshopper again but some how lost track of it. It had landed right here. He had seen it, but where did it to go. He turned around to look behind himself, then began sniffing about. After a bit of sniffing around, Cypress forgot what he had been trying to find in the first place. Having found a familiar scent, his brows kneaded together. Who was it? It wasn't Momma or his brothers but he had smelled it around manor before. It bothered him that he couldn't remember who the scent belonged to so he tried to follow it. Maybe he could find out.

OOC: hopefully this is ok? I am sure to change it around if it isn’t

You stupid burds… go away!!!

Denali barked, he’d found this really tasty stick himself, it had fallen from a tree in the garden, it had some berries on it and they tasted so good! But the birds didn’t like him taking their food from them… well he didn’t take it from them he just chased them to get the stick, he didn’t know they were eating off of it. Now they were fluttering all around him angry with him, he nipped at them telling them he wasn’t scared of them. He wasn’t he hated the teases, because that’s what they were stupid little teasers… he never got even a feather the things were just too fast, but they didn’t give him time to eat what was on the stick either. He picked up the stick and trotted away, finding himself partially under the porch chewing on the stick, trying to get the berries off it. His normal brown face was covered in a dark purple color now, but since he couldn’t really see all of his snout, he didn’t care. He sat by the porch happy that he had gotten the better of the birds. He was unaware that he was now being tracked by something else, something more like himself. He was just too proud to care about anything else as he sat staring at the sky which was now free of birds.

Cypress followed his nose, which was planted to the ground and sniffing about for the familiar scent he was following. His thin tail a constant waving banner behind him. Sometimes the scent was stronger and he would take a few good, deep sniffs to see if he couldn't remember who it was before his over sized puppy paws carried him onward.

The youth's nose worked just fine and dandy, but it was unpracticed. So even the fresh scent was lost a couple times as he got a little to excited and his large paws carried him past the path of scent, causing him to back track a few steps everyone once an while to find the scent once again. It was perhaps a good thing then that the scent did not go far and seemed more to wrap around the manor rather than leading away from it.

The black and brown mottled pup was so focused on the scent that he forgot about his other senses. So he was completely unaware he had found the source until he bumped into rump of the older pup that the scent belonged too. "Denalee! It is you I smells!" He declared after a confused look pasted across his face at his nose meeting fur. His already wagging tail increasing in speed.

OOC.

Something had run into his rump, Denali jumped up but saw that it was Cypress! He gave a big purple smile at the pup happy to see him. He was looking for him? Or was he looking for something else and found Denali first? Whatever it was it didn’t matter. Denali was happy to see the puppy.

Hi! Yeah it me!

He said wagging his tail, happy to see his new friend. Life wasn’t the same for him now but with friends like these who cared? He looked at the puppy who’d run into him. He smiled and wondered if he wanted to play something.

Wanna play?

He asked, he’d learned quite a few new fun games, and one included find the snail, although you could really find anything and play with it, Denali didn’t care, but snails were so slow, maybe there was something else to find and play with, or they could play stick, or something new!

Greeted with a wide, purple grin. Cypress couldn't help but giggle at the older pup. He wasn't trying to be mean, but Denali's teeth sure did look funny being a different color. "Your teefs look funny. Yous tounge is purdle too!" He exclaimed with another bout of giggles.

Play! Of coarse Cypress wanted to play! Every game was more fun when you had someone to play with! "Yea! What you wanna play?" His face was beaming and he practically bounced with excitement. "Tag or Pounce?" Pouncing was better when the other didn't know they were playing pounce though. Cypress really didn't care what game they played, so long as they played something fun!

WC: Do you REALLY NEED ME TO COUNT THIS FOR YOU?!?!?!

The giggle that came out of the pups mouth was quite unexpected, and then when he said his teeth and tongue were purple Denali laughed himself, that would be a funny thing to see! And he perked up even more when the puppy suggested games, he did know how to play both of those, and since he couldn’t think of anything else to say, he slyly, pokes his paw at the other puppy.

Tag you’re it!

And he ran off, his tail up high and wagging ferociously, as he moved away from the puppy as fast as he could.

It would be a rather unlikely thing for the tree pup to turn down a chance to play. The name of the game mattered little. All that really mattered is that there was someone to play with.Hey! Cypress called out after the other pup, surprised at the sudden start of the game of tag. Though laughter followed as he charged after the fleeing, older pup.

The younger pup struggled to catch up. His large paws were clumsy and it took several strides before he began to gain on Denali, running hard to do so with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth. He was so close now, just a little bit farther. He stretched out his stride, gaining just a little bit more with each step. Though perhaps the older pup was letting him catch up, though that idea had not occurred to the mottled pup. With a great leap, or so it seemed to Cypress, his nosed touched the flank of the other. Tag. You're it! Giggling as he veered off in a different direction. Feet scrambling to put distance between him and his pursuer.

ooc: short post WIN!!

He was not sure how long it would take the other pup to catch up to him, and he wouldn’t have to wait long as Cypress charged him and tagged him, Denali stopped then started after the other pup, his own legs were stockier, and shorter than his friends, he didn’t pay attention to his legs, he could tell he was not going to get anywhere if he tried to chase Cypress head on, so he moved trying to get closer when the boy turn, and soon he was caught up and almost tackled the puppy down, but touched his nose to the boys shoulder indeed.

Gotcha!

He said and then darted away again. This time he was headed around the house.

He couldn't help but giggle and laugh as the other chased him, squealing as he saw that Denali was gaining on him. He tried to run faster but his paws tangled and faltered a bit, just as the other caught up with him, pushing his nose into the fur of his shoulder.

Panting Cypress took after his friend, their roles reversed once again. As the other pup rounded the corner of the house Cypress followed. His pace slowing as an idea came to him and quickly he turned around and ran the other way around the house, hoping his strategy had gone unnoticed by Denali. Crouching down at corner of the house he waited, figuring Denali would come running by any second and he could pounce at him and tag him that way.

Cypress grinned to himself as he waited, tag wagging and sides still heaving as he panted. Trying not to laugh at his own cleverness and giving away were he was. Large ears perked as he heard the other pup coming. He waited til just the perfect moment and pounced! Oh no! He missed Denali by inches. Trying to turn and chase after him as he landed, Cypress instead sent himself rolling across the grass.

Denali didn’t notice, he actually thought he was way ahead of his new friends and ran as fast as he could further around. It would be so awesome if he could actually reach Cypress and scare him by being behind him. But then he saw a blur of grey out of the corner of his eye, and then saw the pup skidding to come after him. He’d been so stunned that he had stopped for a second, but when he saw the puppy charging after him again he had to take a daring dash away from the pup hoping he didn’t gain on Denali for his own slip up.

The tree pup screeched in laughter as he went rolling as result of his missed pounce. No harm coming from his little tumble across the grass he was on his feet just as quickly as he had lost his footing, once again charging after the fleeing Denali. The distance between them closing little by little as Denali had gotten a bit of a head start on Cypress after his tumble. "I gonna get you! He held after Denali, the occasional laugh and giggle as he ran after him, slowly gaining on his heels. With a mighty leap, Cypress lunged at Denali. His swiping paw would either just catch the heels of the other or he would be sent tumbling yet again. Either way the out come was fun!

ooc...

Denali couldn’t keep his pace up forever and soon he was falling back, but before he could run out of breath, still trying to out run cypress, the pup pounced again, and this time hit him square in the tummy so they both went rolling, it didn’t hurt but it was surprising, though he came up laughing, how cool was this, he loved playing with wolves his size, he’d never get this back where he used to life.

You’re good!

He panted, trying to catch his breath, he lay where he was, he wasn’t wore out, but he could feel that his lungs were in a bit of pain, and he was short winded from it. He’d feel better though… at least he hoped so.

I wish I could run as fast as you!

He said, even though the other puppy was younger than him, he still had slightly shorter and stockier legs, not made for quick sprints, he was made for long jogging, although he didn’t know it, because he was still a puppy and he wanted to have fun and not compare legs with other wolves.

His mighty pounce launched Cypress farther than he had expected. He had thought the older pup might possibly be just out of reach. Instead the young bodies collided quite solidly, sending both rolling across the grass. The mottled pup squealed in laughter as he went tumbling. Sky and ground swirling together as his eyes tried to find a focal point, refusing to close and miss the swirl of colors. Once they came to a full stop Cypress bounced quickly to his feet, completely unphased. Though his tongue Hung loosely from his mouth has he tried to catch his breath.

At the other boys complement Cypress beamed. He didn't really think himself particular good at any one thing and of coarse he was completely oblivious to any advantage his leg length might give him over his current playmate. As far as Cypress was concerned there was no real difference at all between Denali and himself. Except that Denali was older than he and his brothers. Even if it was only a little bit. "Tanks! You good too. Tag is fun!"

He had caught his breath at this point, but now his tongue felt dry and tacky as it pulled back in his mouth. A couple smack of his jaws and a lick or two and it still felt dry. "I needs a dwink," he said, looking around for just that as if it should be only feet away."You thirsfy too? Let's go find some water!" He said not even waiting for a response.

Denali didn’t know how thirsty he’d actually been feeling until Cypress said something, then he found his own mouth quite dry. He pulled himself up as the pup started looking for a source of water. Denali wasn’t one to go looking, his nose wasn’t quite there yet but with his eyes he scanned the area, though Cypress knew where there was water more than he did so he followed the pup as they went on their little adventure to find water.

Do you get to play like this all the time?

Denali asked as the moved on, he wasn’t use to this kind of play and he wasn’t use to the company of his own age so he didn’t know what I was like to be able to play with someone his own age, or play much at all. His parents had encouraged him to play but he had only them to play with and sometimes the games he was playing just got in their way it seemed. They weren’t here for him to get in their way now it was just him and Cypress until Savina came to get him at least.

There always seemed to be a pail of water somewhere around the manor. Whether it was actually left out for the lips that wandered the area or simply water being used for gardening the black and brown pup could careless. What did care about was where it happened to be when he was thirsty. Today he was having to look harder for it than he would have liked. Licking his chops as he searched.

Denali's question puzzled him. He just wasn't quite sure what he had meant. Playing was something Cypress did everyday and there was always someone to play with. What with his own brothers and Savina's litter running about. "Yea, why not?" Besides exploring what else was there for a pup to do?

OOC: I faiiilll.

It seemed his friend had misplaced the water and Denali thought about searching for some as well, though he had little to no luck too, wasn’t there always water around here? Was it playing hide and seek with them? Did water do that?

I see, I like it, I didn’t play lots when I was with my mommy and daddy. They were all I could play wif, there were no other pups.

Denali admitted as he started putting his nose to the ground like a scent hound, he dind’t know the smell of water but he was sure he’d find some eventually.

What ofer games to you pway?

Denali asked now feeling distracted by asking him the question. He was interested in play and different things they did. He definitely liked fetch, something his mommy had played with him a lot.

Cypress stopped, look at Denali with a look of pure disbelief. "No brovers? No sissers? No other pups at all?" He couldn't imagine being the only one his age around. Though it was hard for him to truly conceive any life beyond his own home. It was all he really knew, after all. But Denali did have something that Cypress didn't. "Whats it wike to have a daddy?" Head tilted in obvious curiosity. The young tree pup not even aware of what he was missing. He did after all have the most wonderful momma.

What games did he play? What games didn't he play, Cyp would try any game at least once and give it a chance to be fun. Though if it wasn't then he probably wouldn't want to play it again. "Anyding, what you wanna pway?" Denali would surely know a new game, right? The water had now become forgotten by the pup. Perhaps they could come across it in their play.

ooc...

Denali had experienced slightly more than the other pup it seemed, he couldn’t seem to imagine life without another puppy around, but Denali could.

Nu uh, no brovers or sisers, jus me I was aw awone… well with my mommy and daddy.

Denali said shaking his head. He found it odd when the other puppy asked about his daddy, didn’t he have one? Now he was on the other end of the stick, thinking that all pups had daddies, even Savina’s pups had a daddy.

Well he was like my mommy, cept he was louder. He liked to play rough with me though! My mommy never did. He always threw me up… and then he played stick wif me a lot too!

The game was something he did miss dearly, his father throwing a stick and Denali had to go find it… it had been fun, but there was no one to play that here… at least no one with hands and when he was around them… he always forgot.

Cypress believed Denali, but it sounded so impossible. He had never even considered how different life could be from the one he lived. "What, no body else at aw? Just you and you momma and daddy?" His own lifestyle was all he knew and had experienced so it was easy for him to think that it was the way that everyone lived. With a large community home with several families. Even just the idea of living alone with just his momma and brothers seemed so surreal. He couldn't even imagine it. "You not aw awone now." That had to be a good thing.

Cypress smelled something, or perhaps it was more that ye smelled nothing. Turning his head to look he had at long last found the short pale of water. The shallow bucket didn't hold much water but it would be enough for thirsty pups and with its short sides they could easy reach the clear, essential liquid. "I found it, I found it!" he chanted as he bounded over, not hesitating to lap at the surface.

OOC: we should wrap this up :3

Denali shook his head, again, it seemed impossible for his esteemed colleague to understand that he had just his parents for any company, but he smiled when the puppy told him he was not alone, and Denali agreed, he had lots and lots of new friends, a big place to roam around, and even more people that gave him food, that seemed to care for him even though e was just a little puppy.

Denali raced over to Cypress who was now drinking from the bucket, the pup didn’t hesitate to drink from it as well. It felt good, yet tasted old to him, but he wasn’t complaining, they had water!

That was good!
