Here you go Conor <3. WC: 717 {7 points}

The mornings were like hell to Layla now a days. Every morning was the same, the mistress would wake up feeling sick to her stomach and laying in bed until about noon time, once the sun had passed by the bedroom window. Once the sun was gone from view and she was fully awake, the she wolf would drag herself out of bed. While she for the most part was able to hold back the pain now, she couldn't hold back the fact that something about her was changing. Since Saluce and her honeymoon trip to the peaks, things were wonderful. She had a loving mate who wanted to start a family with her, she was making frineds amoung pack members and non pack members alike, and she was growing more in her medical studies by helping out Saluce and Yuki; however, now was the time for change. Her chest was growing by each passing day and fights were beginning to arise between her and Saluce. She loved her mate to death but she could not stand him jumping into things without a second thought. She tried to ignore her thoughts on the fight as she made her way over to her closet. Lately her clothes were more on the dark and gothic side. She was going to have to head out some time and find a few more lively outfits. The first thing she grabbed was her black no sleeve top with laces in the front and her black skirt that matched it. Slowly she changed into her clothes and added the accessories that went with it. Being the she wolf of the pair, it was no wonder she had to endure all this pain. The mistress knew what had happened, she was pregnant. It was the only explination to what was happening to her. Once she was all ready and dressed, she headed downstairs. Seeing as it was early in the pregnancy, the pain was not a lot and moving was not as hard as it would become. Layla was a bit upset at the thought of it seeing as she liked to go running in the mornings. Now a days she was laying in bed all morning to get rid of the sickness. Once the she wolf was downstairs, she made her way for the door and headed out.

It was about two when Layla had finally made it outside. The mistress was sick of being stuck inside because of her current change. Wolville was quiet big and would take a while for her to leave the area to head somewhere else. The she wolf figured it was a good day to get away from everything and take a small trip down memory lane. She dragged herself along until she come to Oberon's Spring. This was the first place she came to since she joined Dahlia de Mai. Here was the place where she met Bris, Gideon, and Reverent for the first time. She moved to the bank and laid down as she lowered her hand into the water. It felt good to lay down, but she hated feeling like she was lazy. She wished there was a way for her to go running without feeling any pain.

Moving back from her dream, she stared right into the water. Layla had come a long way since she first joined the pack. Some good and some bad. Speaking of that bad things that happened, she couldn't help but stare at the scar on her muzzle from the bear attack. That night was a terrible night for the mistress, except for the lucky comapny of Lucia from the Inferni pack. The she wolf heard rumors that Inferni and Dahlia de Mai were not on good terms and wanted to try and make their relationship better. She wold have to speak to Conor and request his permission to go to Inferni and speak to their leader. Speaking of seeing Conor, she would have to tell him about her pregnancy, seeing as it was part of the pack law. She had to will to see him but her body just wanted to lay by the water. If he didn't show up by chance, she would wait a while before raising herself up and carry herself to his home.

The sun was parading tall on top of the forever blue ceiling above him when the man finally left his house in Wolfville. The route he instantly followed was the same almost always; down the street and towards the medical centre that he had taken as his study and hospital. Dahlia had several bright healers in the ranks, and so he held no interest in the co-rank. It would be nice for the qualified members to work for a goal, and perhaps someone more skilled than he would fit better as the pack’s official medic. Through hours of study and practising he was in theory a formidable healer. Susquehanna had taught him a lot while she had lived in the lands and there were enough skilful people to learn from and discuss methods with.

He was about to leap into the unlocked building when the gentle, cool breeze spoke of the arrival of a member. The golden man turned and hesitated for only a moment before going against the wind’s direction, moving to meet Layla. They had not seen much of each other lately, and he genuinely wondered how she was doing. Within a few moments he saw her petite form, though her dark clothes had him puzzled for a moment. There was nothing wrong with wearing clothing though, and Conor was probably one of the few that had never bothered much about it. Smiling brightly in her direction, he switched over to a light jog to execute the distance more swiftly. ”Good day, Layla,” he brightly called, though he stopped and wondered as he drew closer. She seemed tired and worn, a bright opposite of the woman he had shared the meal in the garden with. ”Is everything okay?”

As Layla was relaxing at the bank, she began to think of the plans and goals she had made. She wanted to receive the healer co-rank and it would seem she would be on her way now that Yuki was at home. She had to admit that putting stitches on the loner's chest was a challenge to her, but it was thanks to Conor that she even had access to them in the first place. He was the one who told her about the pharmacy and showed it to her. She was not going to be the one to just brag to Conor about her talents. She'd rather let him see for himself just what she was able to do. The next time he got injured, she'd be there to help, premitting that her pregnancy was not getting in the way. Speaking of which, why was this being such a burden on her anyways? Moving around was hard enough and she always was in bed. She sighed as the thought of a large litter came to her mind. Surely if she was having only a couple pups then it wouldn't be this hard on her. A soft sigh passed her lips as she twirled her hand around in the cool water.

It was then that she caught the familiar scent of someone. It wasn't Saluce seeing as he was probably at his shop. Once it came closer, she recognized the scent, it was the scent of Conor. What wonderful timing for him to show up where she was. She remembered back to the first time she met the handsome wolf. There he was in the dark at the borders welcoming her to her new home and then again when they had lunch together in her old garden. A lot of things had changed since then. She had a mate, she was having pups, and she was putting her talent in medicine to use. She wondered if anything had changed in Conor's life as well. Sure he had all of his alpha duties, but surely he had to have some time with the other members of the pack. Speaking of another thing that changed, Conor didn't know about the black and white she wolf's adventure with the bear and how the Inferni saved her life. In fact, that was why she wanted to talk to him in the first place, but it was better to make a casual conversation first and then move into the topic of Inferni later.

Of course he greeted her with a casual greeting. Her ears moved as her orbs moved from the water to the orange male. Layla wagged her tail happily as she she waved to him. ”Good day to you too Conor. How are things with you?” The ideal chit chat did not last for long as Conor seemed to point out how tired she was and asked if everything was alright. Truly everything was alright, but it was just a bit harder to move around. The mistress nodded her head as she spoke softly. ”Everyhting's ok Conor. It's just a bit harder to move around is all. It doesn't make it any easier when pups are on the way and you're taking care of someone at the same time.” She of course was talking about Yuki. The loner would not be able to leave with those stitches still in her. The wound would have to be fully healed and they were removed. Now on the topic of her pregnancy, it was a bit odd to her that Conor didn't realize she was pregnant from her fatter stomach. Surely that would be the first thing he noticed about her.

As Layla waited for Conor to answer, she swung her legs around slowly so that she was now sitting up. Once up she would turn her figure to face the male. He was calm and the mistress couldn't help but admire him. Sure she had a mate, but he was just handsome. Whatever female manages to get him will sure be lucky. Her smile remained on her face and her tail continued to wag happily. She took the time to adjust her straps a bit and then turned her orbs back to Conor.

He said it as it was, simple and wonderful. ”Things are very well, thank you.” His life continued to flourish with beauty as nature exploded into colours around them. Nothing ever went as one wanted, but he knew he was particularly blessed with the life he led now. He stepped closer to the cool water where her form was floating in the calm liquid. Words flew from her serene lips and brought forth surprise in her alpha’s face. In natural response to her words, lavender eyes fell in pursuit of a swelling on her belly, though it was lowered down into the water and unavailable for study by his sharp gaze.

”Pups?” his words repeated, forming the word alone into a question. Eyebrows rose in the face painted with cream, gold and cinnamon, but there was no dark clouds moving in on him. He did not practise to control the beings that lived in Dahlia de Mai. He was merely a protector and peacekeeper and nothing more. Conor could not decide how they were to live their lives. ”May I ask for the name of the father?” he then asked softly, though would easily mind his own business if she told him no. She had not spent many months as a Dahlian, but he hoped it was a sire within the ranks of the pack so that the children could enter the world with both parents present. Or perhaps she would move. Her choice in the end, not Conor’s.

It was good to hear that things were going well for Conor. Life in Dahlia de Mai was going wonderfully. Autumn was fastly approaching and the leaves were beginning to change colors. Hopefully Conor too was preparing for the winter like she and her mate were. The mistress then noticed the look of surprise in the alpha’s face. It wasn’t a surprise to the she wolf to see that look in his face. She had only been a part of the pack for a couple months and already she was pregnant. Layla even had a hard time herself believing that she was already pregnant too, but as long as she could see the look of excitement in her love’s face, then she was happy. Speaking of which, she didn’t think she had seen Saluce ever so excited. The behemoth seemed like the kind of wolf who spent a lot of time by himself and didn’t think he’d ever start a family. Boy did she sure prove him wrong. Saluce was seemed more friendly and wanted nothing more than to start a family with his mate. Just thinking about the behemoth made her want to rush home and be in his arms, but Conor was in her presence and she wasn’t going to act rude with such a noble male around.

As Conor finally broke through the silence, Layla looked into his violet orbs. There was that hint of curiousity in his eyes. Of course there was. What alpha wouldn’t want to know who the father of his pack mate’s pups would be. He did seem a bit worried as if her mate was a wolf outside of the pack. Although it would have been possible for her to find love outside of the pack, she did not plan to ever leave Dahlia and she would have her mate join the pack to live with her. After going through her thought, she turned her attention back to the alpha and smiled. “Saluce is their father. He’s so excited about having pups.” Conor was surely aware of who Saluce was. The mistress first met Saluce at Conor’s house anyways. It was not exactly love at first site, but that moment at the alpha’s home brought the two wolves together. She was so glad she had stopped by Conor’s house that day, otherwise she may have never met Saluce and she may never have found the perfect mate.

While Layla was waiting for the alpha to make a response, she thought about the actual thing she wished to speak to Conor about. Mainly she wanted to know why Dahlia de Mai were on terrible terms and wanted to learn some of the pack’s history. How could she continue to live in the pack and know nothing about it? She knew she couldn’t and now was the perfect time to learn. Once Conor was finished and his attention was back to her, the mistress looked away and sighed softly. ”Conor, I have a question for you.” She gave the alpha a moment to take everything in. The black and white she wolf’s ears moved down and her tail carefully made its way in between her legs. She gave another sigh and then spoke softly. ”Conor, why is Dahlia de Mai and Inferni on bad terms? Did we do something to them?”

He was surprised indeed to hear that Saluce was the proud sire of the life she carried in her womb. He could have guessed by the touch of claim his scent had on the woman’s fur, but he was not in a position where he could have said for certain what the nature of their relationship was by the scent alone. The male settled with this, a peculiar smile present on his slim lips as he attempted to image them as a couple. This was wonderful news though, and he felt almost sad that he had not been informed earlier. Did this mean that they wished for an official mateship as well? An ear swivelled back in quiet thought, but this was an area he was rather blank on. Little did it matter, for love did not need approval from anyone but the two people that had found happiness in each other.

”I’m very happy for you,” the Alpha then truthfully replied, and he knew that he was. It was always a quiet worry in him: he feared the new members would run into issues when they settled and attempted to make Dahlia de Mai home. Surely that was why such a high percentage disappeared into thin air? That something was wrong. He knew that he would do well not to allow his thoughts to linger too much on such matters, but he genuinely cared about every individual that belonged to Dahlia’s ranks, this regardless how well he knew and personally liked the individual. They were part of him and this place, and so regardless of personal feelings it was his duty to protect and assist those who lived here. Then, his heart seemed to fall just a little as the dark and light female turned her gaze away from his. She had a question.

Obviously he would do his best to answer and help, no matter the nature of it. ”What is it, Layla?” he wondered softly, a light smile gracing his lips to strengthen the fact that there was nothing she should worry about. No matter what this was, he was certain there would be a solution for it. However, as the question sounded he felt his caramel hued ears pull back towards the back of his skull. It was wrong to assume that the Dahlians knew their own history. Most of the currents members had arrived after what Conor truthfully thought to have been relatively close to a massacre, as he saw it. ”We did. Twice, actually.” Yes, there had been two wars in these lands and both were named the Dahlian wars, showering the pack with crimson guilt and dishonest plots. It had all been the doing of Haku Soul, his dark hearted father.

”Some months before you arrived we were in a war with Inferni. This was the second within few years, and both of them were started and led by my father, who was Dahlia’s leader before me.” Now she would know the reason why there was such a young, inexperienced leader in Dahlia. He had been one of those few left after the war finally was over and they stood without a leader. ”My father was not a kind man, and he adored bloody conflicts.” And none of the sides had gained anything, except perhaps for the number one guilty, Haku. There had been a sickness in him, and in the end the cream and chocolate coated male had been little more than a cruel monster hungry for death and misery. ”There is blood and death in our history, and it continues to haunt us.”

Layla was glad to see Conor form a smile on his face. She was worried he would not approve of her mate and may take actions against her. Perhaps it was because Saluce was now a member of the pack that he was relieved. Saluce was a wonderful male and Layla could ask for anyone better, although she still couldn’t help but sometimes admire Conor’s orange coat. She smiled happily as he said he was happy for her. That was all the mistress needed to hear from him. Soon she would be having pups with the wolf of her dreams and all she needed to know what that she and her pups would be accepted by her alpha; although, she had no doubts that they wouldn’t be accepted. It seemed that soon the whole pack would be nothing but pups. Then again that wasn’t a bad thing. The black and white she wolf loved pups. They were always fun to be around and seemed eager to learn new things. She couldn’t wait until she brought her new pups into the world and could spend time with them.

As Layla asked her question, she could begin to see the look of horror in his eyes. Something about her question triggered something in the male’s mind. It must have been something he wanted to forget about. The mistress couldn’t help but feel a bit ashamed of asking the question but she had to figure out the history of the pack somehow. Judging from the look on the male’s face, it was not a pleasant history. Her ears moved as he spoke. Twice? So they were on bad terms more than once. The she wolf couldn’t help but wonder what on earth could spark up such a thing. Ideas passed in her mind about what sort of things could have happened. It didn’t matter at the moment, but all she knew was that she was going to try and make the two packs get on better terms somehow. She owed Inferni her life and she was going to find some way to repay them so long as it was not something against her own pack.

As Layla listened to Conor’s explination, she couldn’t help but see awful images in her head. She hated the thought of war and never wished to see it in her lifetime. She could see the look of terror in the wolves face and the blood covering the land. The images would not leave her head so long as Conor mentioned even the word ‘war’. As he mentioned about their leader, the mistress thought back to the day she first arrived in Dahlia de Mai. She remembered the alpha mentioning something about his father and what a cruel wolf he was. She had no idea that he would actually be the one to lead the war. ”You mentioned that about your father when I first arrived. He sure doesn’t sound like someone I’d like to meet.” Hopefully he was either dead or never to be seen again. As Conor pointed out their history was full of blood and haunted them, the she wolf couldn’t help but feel haunted by it too. Never would she want to see a pack that was in war before, but it seemed for now that life in Dahlia was getting better. Her curiousity began to rise as she wanted to know more about this history. ”What started the wars Conor? Was it your father’s doing or Inferni’s?”

Perhaps now was the only chance she was going to get to tell Conor her reason for asking these questions. ”Conor, the reason I am asking is because I owe Inferni my life. Not long ago I was attacked by a bear when I was out gathering some herbs. A black wolf named Lucia drove the bear away and saved my life. She’s a member of Inferni and I want to try and make relations between our packs better.” She hoped the alpha even liked her idea about helping out both the packs. If not, then she would have to find some other way to help out Inferni. Layla’s orbs met Conor’s as she tried to figure out what his reaction would be. She prayed that it was a positive one and would support her idea on making relations better with Inferni.

Her smile comforted the young alpha, and it was a genuine sign of her happiness. She and Saluce had moved swiftly, but that was how it had worked best for them. He envied their apparent ability to simply let go and let the feelings construct the path for them rather than analysing and pondering about each and every step. It would be a long walk. The thought of another litter in the pack was received by a warm wave of contentment. While he knew that he was nowhere near ready to start a family of his own, he greatly appreciated children. He had helped raise many of the young orphans that had found their way to Dahlia de Mai. It was the corrupted blood in his own genes that he was afraid of. It was not at all certain that his blood was bad, but it was as it was and Haku Soul was his father and therefore a part of him.

A sad smile appeared on the young Alpha’s lips as the woman said that she wouldn’t really like to meet his father. The son wondered how much blood there was on the father’s hands. He wondered how Haku could live with himself for all the suffering and death he had brought upon to packs. He thought of Semyon and how he had died right before his eyes. It seemed the maroon images continued to haunt him. The sins of the father. He hoped he would never again see the chocolate coated male that had sired him. He had managed to ruin much in his offspring’s life, but never more would he be allowed to bring forth such destruction to the lands of ‘Souls.

Layla wanted to know who it was that had started the wars. Even today, it was hard to say for certain. No one was innocent here, but he decided against building up a wall to defend Dahlia. ”I was not born until after the first war,” he first explained, revealing that his sources were all things he had been told long after it had happened. ”A Dahlian had a miscarriage because of a coyote and that was how it began, more or less.” It was not necessary to mention that the woman that had lost her children was Mew Sadira, his late aunt that had disappeared towards the end of the war. They had all believed her to be a victim of war, but her body had been found later in the hot summer months. Poor Vesle, how could she go on with the sight of her mother’s rotting for burned into her retina? ”Haku avenged her in a horrible way, and it only got worse after that.” Layla did not need to know the gruesome details. The coyote child and mother and the way they had lost their lives. No, it was better with a general overview and nothing more. It belonged with the past.

The Dahlian female’s next words were surprising, and caramel ears stood attention as her gentle words brought meaning to her earlier questions. He was slightly confused though, as she said it was a wolf that had saved her life. He knew that Inferni did not allowed wolves within their ranks. They harboured hybrids and mixes, but not wolves? The young male cocked his head in quiet thought, but his voice rang regardless, repeating her words. ”A black wolf?” In fact, Conor had met this black wolf, if it was the Lucia that had approached the group of Infernians, Dahlians and loners in Halifax one day. Lips wanted to curl upwards at the memory of that peaceful gathering. The memories from the war had been fresh in everyone’s memories, but there had been no trouble between the two factions. Not so much afterwards either, though he could still feel anger burn dully in his chest whenever he thought about Hybrid Holocaust and his despicable behaviour towards Bris.

”I was under the impression that Inferni only consists of those who hold a satisfactory percentage of coyote in their blood.” the lavender eyed male said, but did not press on this. ”but perhaps I was wrong,” he admitted, not wishing to doubt Layla’s words. ”It might be a hard thing to do, but it’s the right way to think, Layla.” Peace was very desirable, and there was still many things that needed to be repaired between the two groups of canines. ”What do you intend to do?” the Alpha then wondered; wishing to hear if her thoughts had already worked with any scenarios.

So sorry for the long wait Libri. I need to stop putting Layla's post off. XD. WC: 1,038 {10 points}

Layla was glad to see that her alpha was now more at ease and could see the happiness in his face. She was sure he was happy for her and her mate. Saluce was the greatest mate she could have ever had and she was sure she could never love anyone as much as she loved him. No other male would ever be able to replace him should she ever lose him. She prayed every night that she would live happily with the behemoth and that nothing bad would happen to them. Little did the mistress know the fate of her first litter. Because the black and white she wolf was so excited about having her first pups, she overlooked the downside of the situation. Her pups may not survive, but what were the chances of that happening? Since she thought they were slim, she figured it was ok to think the worst was not possible for her. She expected the best outcome and a healthy litter that she could show to Conor the next time he came for a visit. The black and white she wolf was beginning to picture it in her head and couldn’t help but wag her tail at the thought. It was the most amazing feeling to know that soon she would become a mother and have to spend her time playing instead of doing her pack duties, which was something she looked forward to with open arms. This didn’t mean that she didn’t mind doing her duties, but she wanted to have a bit more fun in her life; fun that could only be filled by the activeness of a pup. She was broken away from her daydream when she noticed the change of expression on Conor’s face. She was sure it was about the comment of not wanting to meet his father. There was something about that look that made the she wolf’s heart sink. Perhaps it was not her place to say such a comment. She had no idea what Haku was truly like to the other members of the pack, therefore it was not her place to judge him just based on what Conor was telling her. She gave a small sigh before she hung her orbs to the alpha’s gaze. ”I’m sorry if I said something wrong. I had no intentions of hurting you or anyone related to Haku. Forgive me for my judgement.” After giving her statement, the she wolf turned her gaze back to the water and curled her tail so it was touching her feet. Her stomach gave a slight jolt of pain, so she too to her original position on her back, keeping her eyes on her alpha the whole time. ”I hope you don’t mind if I lay like this Conor. My chest is giving me some jolts of pain.” She gave a small smiled before she listened to what else he had to say about her questions. Surely he already had all the answers prepared for them.

Layla kept her mind clear and her ears open as Conor explained the origins of the war between the two packs. Not only was this helping her figure out the history of the pack, but also figure out the motives of the war. So far it just seemed like one person was out for revenge, Dahlia de Mai in this case, and then Inferni counted the act with an act of their own. The only flaw the mistress saw in all of this was the coyote who commited the crime. The alpha didn’t say that the coyote came from the Inferni pack so it seemed possible that it was a loner. She cocked her head a bit in confusion and closed her eyes half way. ”I see… so this coyote… was he or she a member of the Inferni pack or was it possible that he or she was a loner?” The black and white she wolf continued to try and piece the part of the past together as she waited for the alpha to answer her questions. She then watched the alpha’s caramel ears straighten as she mentioned that fact that Inferni had taken in a wolf to their pack. It was just as much of a surprise to the she wolf as it was to Conor considering the rumors she heard about the pack of coyotes. Considering the way the caramel wolf said his statement made her think that perhaps Conor had seen the wolf she was talking about. If this was possible, then perhaps he wouldn’t be against her plan. She was becoming more sure that he would support the idea instead of keeping a grudge. She was not all too sure on Inferni’s stand point on this matter, but she was sure that there was someone in the pack that thought like her.

Layla nodded her head to Conor’s comment about the members of Inferni. ”Lucia told me her mate, a coyote named Snake, is a member of Inferni. They allowed her to join so she could be with her mate, but she is under the title of ‘Outsider’. She is not allowed to advance in the pack ranks. Doesn’t sound like the kind of life I’d want. If I were here, I would not have joined them. Being an outsider is the worst thing to feel while a member of a pack.” She gave a pause to let all the information she told Conor to sink into his mind. Now came the decision on whether she would be allowed to try and make better relations with the pack itself. She crossed her figured as she closed her eyes. She gave a big sigh of relief when he approved of her idea. The black and white she wolf was so happy, but that happiness was quickly brought to a stop. The alpha asked just what she had planned to do. She relaxed her body but kept her eyes closed. ”To be honest Conor, I’m not sure what I’m going to do… I would like to speak to the leaders of Inferni about the idea but that’s as far as I got. Do you have any ideas on what I could do?”
