p, lili ^^

The time and training had played off, and Heath even thought that his slightly smaller presence at the stables since the birth of his and Ruri’s puppies had as well. He had to be there for his mate first and foremost now that their boy and girl had been born. They needed attention and the new mother needed to be relieved of the strenuous work of mother hood, though the silver collie did not show any stress, and glowed in the presence of her young. Of course the male could not stay in their cabin for every hour of the day, and visited daily. That was when he worked with the painted stallion. The lack of attention was making him more prone to allowing Heath to break him of his wild nature , seeking it out himself and cooperating in order to receive it, so much so that he was able to saddle and ride him. The time and concentration was good for the new father, for it trained his focus and made it easier for him to leave his home and work without a trouble misguided focus in the transition.

He could leave the cabin, take the stallion and keep him mind on the black and white’s gait beneath him, the tension that was given when he pushed beyond the young horse’s comfort and the ease that came when he calmed and accepted it without constantly worrying about his small family.

And so the Marshal set off in a western direction, taking the painted horse on the longest of journeys yet. He had needed to take this trip months ago, but life threw him distractions that had kept him from doing so. But now Soucis had calmed, though there was still a lack in the connection Heath had hoped to hold with him, and he could test their feeble bond by traveling to the tribe’s boundaries. It was where the fence came into view that the black armed waited, sitting upon the patched stallion and sent a call through the air that was high and spoke of his heavy coyote blood. He spoke her name in the howl, seeking a single female and the mare he had seen her enchant.

OOC: Short post fail

Liliana was out with Grace when she heard the howl, she’d been sitting in the grass looking at the words in the book that Lucia had given her so long ago, she was trying to make sense of it, but she still had yet to understand any of the words or letters, she’d learn to read someday but it seemed today was a good day to head to the borders. The voice of the male that had called sounded kind of familiar, though she wasn’t sure, she rarely heard any one howl before so she wasn’t sure. She hopped on Grace and they both hurried to the borders where awaited the tri colored wolf. She finally recognized him now, it was the young man who’d helped her catch horse. She could see the stallion he’d caught so easily as well, she had not stayed too long after though, she wanted the horse and didn’t want her to change her mind about staying with Liliana. She gave a hearty smile.

Hello! It’s good to see you again Heath.

She was glad that she actually remembered his name, though it didn’t seem to matter as it was a pretty easy name to say and remember. How long ago had it been since she had gotten Grace? And thinking about it she was surprised it had been some time. She couldn’t see anything different about the wolf, though she didn’t realy have him laying around all the time to know of any changes in him. But she really wasn’t looking for any herself.

short = good!

His howl drew low and fell silent as he tipped his nose down towards the horizon. There was always a sense of satisfaction for the primal being inside when he let such a song out into the wind, and the painted horse below him moved with a small bit of anxiety at the haunting tone of the hunter. Heath watched the border, gold eyes searching for a figure that might be able to show him the way to Liliana. For a brief moment he worried that a patrol man would come along and wonder what he was doing stalking their lands, but the Cours male knew that he was no threat and with such peace among all the packs he could easily explain himself.

But there was nothing for the black armed coy-wolf to worry about, for in the distance he saw two figures emerge from the fenced lands. He smirked at the sight of the doggish female riding the bay mare. He reined in Soucis and approached her as she greeted him. The patched horse lifted his head at the mare he had once known, and Heath gave him a hefty pat to remind him that there was nothing was peace to be felt in the presence of the two acquaintances. Its good to see you as well. He dismounted, knowing that the young stallion would not tolerate him sitting on his back for so long, and Heath wished to give him a bit of a break.

I thought I would come see how you two were doing. He explained as he gave a smile to the fey.

She smiled as she saw the paint horse greet Grace, so he was able to keep the stallion at bay. She had a few stallions she had to geld because of their issues, though there were a few stallions who were well enough that she didn’t have to do anything to, which made Liliana happy at that. It was that she could see a leader of a horse in this paint, and wondered how long it took Heath to get him so docile.

We are doing great, we have a quiet understanding of each other.

Liliana Patted Grace’s neck before slipping off her as well. She moved to the stallion and tossed her head a little. Liliana trusted her mare, but how much did Heath trust his stallion. Lili was happy that Grace was so easy to deal with.

How are things going along with you and your stallion?

She asked starting to move more into the packlands. She had nothing to fear as Heath was only visiting, and she wanted to make sure the pack ties between each other were a welcoming one, which meant she had no reasons to keep him at the border of AniWaya.

Heath was glad to hear that Liliana had found her match. He knew such a connection, and as he thought of her he wished that he had brought the roan mare Lumiere instead of the painted stallion. But this was important for them, and a way for them to grow together rather then Heath simply ignoring him and allowing him to become a larger problem then he was now. Soucis nickered at the mare, and Heath figured that he remembered her scent and likely her face from the years they traveled together I am glad to hear that. The Marshal commented with a soft smile. Though the mare approached with a calm and soft demeanor he held the patched horses reins without tension but with a calm poise and ready for anything. But he leaned his nose forward to greet her and Heath saw no tension in his neck muscles. He seemed fairly calm.

He gave a small smirk as her question, I have named him Soucis, or problem in French. He looked at the AniWayan with a small grin, He had been a handful, and not easy to break despite his willingness to join me in Cours. Heath moved right along with her, ready to follow where ever she might lead him. He was of course interested in where they kept their stock, hoping to get more ideas for his own stables.

They were in fact heading to the stables now, she figured he’d appreciate the new horses the have, possibly even the cows they took care of. She was quite sure they’d see some calves soon and there would be a possibility of her actually having to travel with these new cattle to bring in more so they didn’t have ot worry about imbreeding, but that was a topic way off the one she was suppose to be on. Poor Heath, having to deal with the stallion and she figured he only kept the male intact was possible breeding in the future. That would be the only reason she would do the same.

I’m sorry he’s been giving you trouble, he must be constant care for a horse like that, but it seems that you are doing a great job so far.

She said as the started up the hill towards the village and stables. Grace was moving slowly beside Liliana, she couldn’t help being so thankful for her horse, one that didn’t have to work with tack on her at all. She had a mind of her own but she seemed very content where she was. That made Liliana happy. The stallion seemed quite content right now too, which made her less apprehensive, though she’d introduce herself to him soon enough.

I was even able to find a few more herds and caught some more horses, I did trade some for cows, but we have a good stock of horses now.

She said as they moved closer to the top of the hill. It didn’t take long and she waited for Heath, she wasn’t sure if he’d seen the village itself but she always loved watching the faces of the newcomers when they either exited the forest to see their small area or peeked over a hill, it was a sight to see and she knew it.

Heath followed in relative silence, content on looking around at the packs lands as he was lead through them. He had not seen much of AniWaya, once at night and there was so much more to see in the daylight. He had hunted with a tribe’s woman as well, and the elk they had caught had been delicious but he had not ventured near the lands again to try his hand at the prey once more. Liliana spoke and he turned to her dark face. I have only just started riding him, I feel like my other horses were much easier to tame and more willing to accept the saddle. But he’s stubborn, though I think he likes the free meals. Heath spoke with a smile. He was able to laugh about it now, though in the past he had been pretty upset at the thought of it.

That’s great. I find that horses of the same herd tend to get along in the fields a bit better, but it also weakens the blood of the stock.. He couldn’t help but choose from the different bands of horses in the area, though the stallion had been the last of his new choices. Their stables were filled and more and more were bringing companions and choosing steeds. Their current stock was diverse and numerous.

The patch horse moved along with him without much trouble. He seemed happy to explore a new land as well. Heath held his reins loosely, giving him room to raise his head and look out over the hill just as he did. Heath did not disappoint, stopping slightly to see the village that was spread out before them and giving a surprised though silent expression.

WC: 326 (2 Points) OOC: I got to it sooner than I thought i would /sorry ; ;

she giggled at his small joke, imagining how it would have been like, though she knew she would have and had already had her own challenges, with the incoming horses and keeping track of them as well as the new cows, it wasn’t easy, but she was able to do it, though she had never had troubles training, but she’d never picked a head strong of a horse before so she didn’t know. Maybe with the foals this coming spring, they may give her trouble, not trouble she was hoping for though.

He’ll end up earning what he ate sure enough.

She said looking to the stallion, still wondering if she could handle something that would make her want to rip out her fur, that’s the impression she got when Heath had spoken. She saw his expression upon going over the hill and couldn’t help but silently in delight in it, Grace had decided it was a great time to race ahead, and thundered down the hill towards her hom.

Welcome to AniWaya village!

She said, her pleased smile spread across her face before she followed her horse in a much slower pace.

I agree with you there, my mother had once told me humans were so picky about their horses and them being studded or studding that they only did it with that of their own family because of one reason or another. It was a horrible thought but I don’t know where my mother had heard that from though.

she said as she moved down, she didn’t want to be like the humans, although their creations were used and made by the wolves she didn’t like the idea of playing god with other animals just for how fast they could run. That had been one particular reason her mother had told her why but that was one of many, and as Heath worked with horses as well he’d probably know the histories as well.

The Marshal certainly hoped that the patched black and white stallion would begin to earn his keep. It was not hard for the horses of his pack to do so, they had nothing to draft and till, and those that wished to ride normally had their own horse to fill that need. Soucis was to be one of his own, and he thought it quite the privilege to be owned by the Marshal. They were tended to first, fed first and allowed to graze where ever they saw fit. Heath couldn’t help but favor them, though the treatment of others never went ignored because of it. I hope so. He spoke with a small chuckle.

He had to turn the stallions face away from the mare’s sudden movement, for her excitement was contagious and he wished to follow her. Heath knew better then to give him full rein in a land that was not their own. The pair followed Liliana once the stallion had settled.

Amber eyes looked to the doggish fey’s face as she spoke. He knew the history of humans and the horses well, almost cleaning out the large library of all its horse related books. He could appreciate how the two species relationship began, just as they wished to have them as transportation at times so did the humans. But the long and arduous history made Heath believe that many had forgotten the tender connection that was needed between two creatures. Their intentions were not always genuine. He commented. His eyes looked over the village, Your home is beautiful. the remark was long over due as they neared.

Liliana was still beaming with pride as they made their way towards the stables. She could tell the poor stallion wanted to run free with Grace, but understood why he was being held back, he smiled at both horse and male, and moved on, his comment making the pride in her grow.

Thank you very much. I had the same reaction when I saw, I’ve been to many places myself, as my mother traveled all over Old Canada, training horses and selling them for odds and ends. I’ve never seen a place like that in all my travels.

She had to admit to him, they would pass by the village itself, though they could see the Great fire in all its glory, a flame that wasn’t to be extinguished except for important celebrations. She’d been a part of it, giving up the hairs of her horse.

I’m sure you want to take a look at the other horses? We’d be willing to trade too, even have feed if you are low on that.

Liliana was getting use to offering trade, she’d seen her mother do it and she’d even done trade with Phoenix Valley, which was where they’d gotten their extra horses, and from the harvesting they’d done and still were doing, they would have a surplus of food, though the cows would more than likely eat them out of house and home if they really could. They neared the stables, where Grace stood waiting, when she spotted them she came to them, her tail raised high as she cantered to them, a proud horse indeed. Not to mention a show off. Liliana smiled at that.

Soucis was not the type that Heath could trust, not yet. He wanted him to be able to run right along side the mare. But the patched stallion was dominant, arrogant in the eyes of the coy-wolf, and unlikely to return to his Marshal. So the Cours male held tight to his reins as they walked, giving tension only when he needed to but still his finger griped tightly.

I have been many places as well, and I agree there is no place like this. Did your tribe build all of these buildings? Or what this here before? Heath questioned, not knowing that this places was used for before the AniWayan tribe came to settle here.

They continued one and his amber hued eyes looked around freely and with great curiosity. The buildings did not seem to be the same as the cabins that his home lands owned, and there was something exotic and foreign about everything. It was a culture that he was certainly not used to, such as the roaring fire that held his eye so much so that he had to turn his head to keep them there as he walked passed it.

He could smell the horses before he could see them, and the painted horse could as well. He felt the change in the posture of the stallion, his own relaxing in the hope that he would relax as well. Though Liliana’s companion showed enough excitement for the stallion to wish to match it.

We could arrange a trade, we have more stallions then mares and the balance is beginning to show in the pastures. At times the dynamics were off when Heath placed certain horses together and he could use another mare to work with.

Liliana wished she could give Heath a straight answer to his question but alas, she knew little of the creation of Aniwaya and what had been there and what was made new.

I’m afraid that I’m still quite new to the back myself, I don’t know much about it, other than a few huts have bee built. Here and there but any of the others, they may or may not have been here when Aniwaya was created.

Her voice was low, and soft now though she was still happy and excited this happened when she started explainin things. Liliana smiled at Grace who’d greeted them at the stables, she was now shaking her head up and down, though Liliana had exercised her today she was certain that the mare had more in her.

Oh that would be lovely, if you want you can choose a few now and I can bring them to your pack with some extra feed,

She said excitedly, though she didn’t know when she would have the time to actually head to Cour des Miracles, as the harvesting season was already here and she’d been quite busy keeping the animals in check, but she knew that trades didn’t always happen right away and things took time. sorry for the wait!

Heath was just generally curious about how such a place could come to be. He wasn’t always the most prompted when it came to knowing about other packs, focusing more on his own life rather then anyone else’s. It was slightly self-centered, but the male was not one to proclaim himself a saint. But this was too inspiring to just be left to a mystery. Heath listened intently on what the female spoke of, and could only nod at the explanation. He could tell, or so he thought he could, the difference between the structures that were newly built.

Most of our homes were built by the humans, the stables sure were. There was nothing wrong with it, and Heath had learned how to maintain the old structures so that they were livable.

Golden eyes looked at the stables that the AniWayans owned, the smell of horses and the sound of them bringing a certain comfort to the Marshal that was all too familiar. Heath tied the patched white and white unicorn to the nearest tether where he would be out of the way and followed the fey to the stock that the pack owned.

That would work. He spoke brightly. You probably know them very well, I am always looking for ones that are docile. Interesting markings catch my eye as well. Heath couldn’t help but want ones that looked a bit different, though he wished to only bring good solid minds into his stables.

Oh I see, I’m sure a few of the huts were made by my pack, but the stables were made by humans I am sure of that.

She admitted, she didn’t even know if there were wolves who actually built buildings like she had. She waited for him to do what he needed to do with his unicorn before he entered the barn. At his description of what he wanted she couldn’t help but smile.

all our mares seem to be quite docile here, at least they are for me.

She thought for a second thinking of a perfect mare, then she smiled brighter and moved her way to a stall. In it was a dusty grey mare, except for the only marking she had. It made her look strange, but Lili thought it brought out difference, though she liked the mare, she couldn’t keep all of them. There was a white patch around her eye and it seemed as though a road of white went from her nose up to her eye, it was strange, and a different kind of quirk, but Liliana had liked it.

She’s pretty good with me, I’ve broken her already, though she’s still shy of some things. I think she is scared of cats, I’m not positive though.

she said, she’d suspected there was a cat living in or near here, but wasn’t sure. There were still nearly as many mice around, but the unicorn wasn’t spooked of them, and the mice tended to hide a lot more now so she thought that it had to have been a cat.

unicornnnnn lol

The buildings were very different then the ones that he found in his home, but as he looked closely he could see that their were features that were similar and obviously at the hands of the humans. It was not easy to find the materials needed now, and Heath could see the nails and craftsmanship that had lasted so many years. Still there were differences, the styles showing that there had been a cultural separation from those that built this place and those that had his stables. Of course the track made his workplace interesting as well, and he felt that this place was lacking those stands and ring.
p>
The Marshall followed the fey, looking at the faces that they passed until they came to the mare that Liliana was thinking of. Heath looked at her, the gray of her coat making her seem ordinary at first, but as she turned her face Heath gave a smile. The bleached circle around her eye, the the tear’s stream that skedaddled down her nose, Heath felt the pull just as he had with Lumière, Stark, even Soucis. She is beautiful. He whispered seductively, not worried about the small quirk that she may have. My mate has a cat that visits at times, I will keep him from scaring her. Heath assured the white and brown female.

Can we take her out? He asked, hoping to see her walk a bit.

OOC:<3 sorry so short ; ;

Liliana was pleased that Heath thought the mare she had shown him was worthwhile. At his request she nodded, she grabbed the halter next to her stall. She put it on and pulled the horse out, leading the mare out back where the pasture was located, knowing Heath would follow. He held onto the halter, because unlike Grace she didn’t just follow like a friend, she knew the horse would run or not listen to what Liliana requested, she was still a wild horse at heart.

She’s still a little wild, but you’re welcome to her, unless you want me to walk her around, see how she does?

She stood by the grey mare keeping her in check. She was imagining what kind of horse Heath would have to trade with her when she finally got over to his packlands… she wondered what his lands were like just thinking about how he reacted to hers. She knew all packs and communities were different. It just made her wonder more what Cour des Miracles was like.

There was always a small bit of a flurry in his chest when he was about to choose another horse. There was a great excitement and yet he still needed to remain focused and clear headed so that he might be able to see the truth in the mare before him. The female took the mare from her stall and Heath blinked to see that she did so willingly and with a demeanor that showed him that this was a practiced habit. She was not un-eased by his presence, accepting him though she did eyes him as they passed. Curious, Heath looked for such a trait.

Amber eyes looked to her legs, the smallest hit in dappling spotted her lower legs towards her hooves and Heath followed and listened to the wolf though eyes remained on the horse. He gave a nod, If I could, i would like to walk her. Heath hoped to see how she might be with a male, and a stranger. His sight returned to the fey, a smile on his face. Light colored hand reached for the rope and he held it loosely at first. His other paws came to the mares neck as she examined him. When he felt that they were acquainted he started with a slow stride.

The Marshal felt her presence, his eyes watching her and the ground all at once. She walked with him willingly, though as they grew farther from her caretaker he could feel a slight tension in her form. But he continued hoping, to walk it out of her and show that there was nothing to worry about. Her head rose, and a snort came from her nose.

OOC: :O i'm sorry it's short ; ; shaw fails, but hopefully we can end this and have nicer longer thread later ^^

Liliana watched as Heath started leading the horse now, she held her breath in hopes that the mare would do good for him, she tried presenting her own positive energy into the horse, who now seemed uncertain that she was being taken further from Liliana, the horse tossed her head a few times but still continued with Heath, though her ears were pulled back trying to listen for Liliana, but Lili didn’t call she knew this was a bonding chance for a new caretaker and horse, and she didn’t want to screw it up by saying praises to the horse. She stood and watched hoping Heath liked what he saw and she would be able to take stock of what he would have eventually.

sounds like a plan to me! they should get into some trouble at some point Big Grin

Heath began to speak to her softly, feeling the tension in her stance through the small connection that his hand created. But it radiated from her, but he expected this. It was normal for her to wish to be with the other canine. He knew that some were partial to females, their scent and demeanor less threatening to many. They were not prone to being so close to a predictor, which was why Heath cherished those that were part of the rare few, and so the mare needing time to transition and adjust was expected.

The black and tan female stood to his back, and Heath could feel her eyes on his back. But it was a comforting thing, knowing that she had his back in case anything was to go wrong. The Cours male did not wish to be hurt and more importantly; the mare. They walked a wide and generous circle, half that was spent walking afar and looking at her gait and taking in her attitude. She calmed, and Heath smiled at the fact. When they returned to Liliana Heath paused and stood back to take one more look at the gray mare. With a nod of his head he sealed the deal with a, You have done a good job with her. He looked at the spot on the mare's eye, falling into the love he held for all his horses. He gave away his heart to the hoofed creature far to quickly.

OOC: we can close now or you can post whichever you want <3

She watched as he did the round, walking her slowly and coming back, it seemed he was quite satisfied and his compliment was great to her ears. She beamed at him, it was a praise from a fellow caretaker, someone who saw that horses were more than mere food, and useful.

Great, though we have a lot of harvesting to do, I will be able to bring her before winter fully sets in.

She said, she didn’t know how long harvesting would take, nor everything else the chief had planned for her but she’d make it a priority to get the mare to the man and see what he had for stock.

If you want I can escort you back, I’m sure your family is missing you.

She wasn’t going to hurry him, but someone as nice as he was she assumed he had a family that he cared for and that the pack he lived in was a pretty long ways from where they were now.
