a bit of a ramble =O, 536 W (5)

The wind softly ruffled her smokey hued fur, she shivered lightly feeling the cold striking her. Amber eyes gazing to the sky with amazement, who would have thought she’d end up here? Conor was lovely to accept her, it made her feel that maybe she wasn’t completely useless. Those violet depths made her want to melt into him. The chastised herself lightly, knowing she shouldn’t be thinking of him like that, it was likely afterall that he was promised to some other lady. Now it wouldn’t be good to get attached and have a cat…wolf…fight so to speak. Her heart longed for something more or maybe it was just her hormones.

For every breath that she drew, she felt like she had drawn one more then she was entitled to. She was living a dream. Perhaps the old crone had been right. She would amount to something more, something more magnificent. That is, a full wolf. She felt as though now she’d been accepted that fragile broken creature that lived within her had been glued back together with glowing purple paste. His kindness and warmth almost brought tears to her eyes.

Conor was lovely, but she couldn’t hurass him about everything, and she wanted to get to know the others. If they were all as wonderful as he was, she wanted to get to know them all. It would be marvellous just to have someone else to talk to. But what would she say? HI im the wolf that wandered up here yesterday, I’m a bit thin but doing my best to be friendly? What sort of worries did a pack have beyond food and keeping shelter? Were there often arguments? And what were the rules? She had a flimsy understanding of social structure, but she wondered as to what shades of grey she was missing in what was acceptable behaviour.

She smiled softly, perhaps she should try and get something to remember this moment in her life by. Finally be accepting. It was a pretty big deal for her. She now had warmth and Conor had said she wouldn’t have to hunt to be fed. Her long claws gently scratched her furry belly as she looked out over the horizon. She wanted to understand why things were the way they were. The old crone said her parents were foolish creatures and she shouldn’t worry herself about them. But she had eventually left too.

The Crone wasn’t really a word she personally understood, it was a title the odd wolf had given herself. The old female wolf, stricken with a racking cough had helped Astryd to mend her leg. Where was she now? Did she still breathe and walk? For one day the crone simply stopped coming to the cave the young wolf had managed to hide in. It was the crone that had taught her the healing medicine to make sure her leg repaired correctly and so that she could perhaps heal others in the future. Had the crone known something? Or was she simply a batty old woman making shots at deceiving a younger creature to give her hope?

Astryd sighed gently collecting her thoughts back to the present. And wondered where the other pack females were

Layla was not sure what to do anymore with her life. Even though her mate and others were trying to cheer her up, it was like she felt helpless and couldn’t do anything. There wasn’t much to do around the pack lands and she wanted to take the behemoth’s advice on taking small steps each day. Even when she did take his advice, she found herself crashing in her own sorrow and forgetting about what he said. Most of the time because of this she was staying near her house so Saluce could break her out of her spell and get her back on her feet again. The mistress didn’t want to feel this way and she knew there would be other chances to start a family, but she couldn’t get over the fact that it was her very first litter that was sent to the grave.

Layla woke up at home and in bed with a headache. She was not in the best of moods but didn’t want to take it out on anyone around her. To make sure of this, she figured it would be a good idea to get out of the house and go for a walk. Perhaps it would help to relax her mind and take the time to think of the happy future she would have. There was one thing that frightened her though. What if the black and white she wolf would never be able to produce healthy and live pups for her mate. A couple tears slipped passed her eyes as the thought came to her mind and she slipped out of her home.

Layla began on her walk and could feel the sun beating down on her thick fur. She was done and wanted to just continue with her life, but for some reason life was not letting her continue on from this point of depression. She stopped and crossed her arms as she passed by the scent of someone nearby. She forced her legs on, not wanting to make contact with her pack mate. She didn’t want anything to happen and surly didn’t want to push her depression on whoever it was either.
