The wood cricked and popped. Embers of gold shot up with every prod from the rusty ski stick. The sandy ground was littered with dying orange soot. Several dull, large stones created a rough firepit, in which several thick logs rested. From these logs, the fire grew, strong and warm.

The sun had just set. On the western horizon, hues of pink and orange could still be seen. They colored the sky above the ocean, and even colored the ocean. The dark waves, tipped with foam, glowed ever so slightly in the lingering light. It was a beautiful night, with a thin crescent moon adorning the sky. Amos peered up at it, and admired it.

He sat on a decaying, waterlogged tree trunk at the top of the beach. His leather bag rested by his feet, containing a tapped up plastic bag of marshmellows, a zipblock bag of rabbit meat, several sticks, and his harmonica. In other words, nearly everything one needed for the perfect campfire. There was just one thing that Amos was missing.

Sorry for the wait! WC: 345 {3 points}

Layla had spent most of the day away from her home and was with Gideon on the beach. She wanted so much to go back home and lay down with her beloved mate. She could feel the breeze picking up and the night blanketing the sky. The mistress’ blue orbs looked to the sky as she wandered along the beach. The day was not what she wanted and still couldn’t get the depression out of her head. She couldn’t help but continue to miss the pups who were now laying with mother earth. Her ears were folded down as she let her satchel hang at her side. One had laid on the strap of her bag and the other hung at her side. There was sadness hanging over her head as she let the darkness set in.

Layla paused as she feel to her knees and cried. The darkness was too much and she just wanted to run home. She could feel herself being pulled back towards her home, that was until she saw a light in the distance. There was someone else out here on the beach at this time of night? The mistress rose to her feet and slowly made her way over towards the light. When she came closer, she noticed the fire and the figure sitting near it. She could see that it was a like colored canine as well as a coyote instead of a wolf. Because the black and white she wolf was so depressed, she turned away from the male and began to head back for home.

Layla stopped and lowered herself to her knees again, leaning on a nearby rock, her eyes locked on the waves crashing along the shore. Her hair laid at her sides as the tears came to her face again. The mistress’ orbs moved up to the sky and looked to the stars. Her pups were floating along up there. She wondered if they were able to see the pain that she was going though and wished they could make it go away.
