Time Goes Faster

A rustle of wind jostled the thick fur of the small grey wolf laying due south of the wind. Amber eyes began to jolt from side to side as her nose took in the scent markings of a pack's territory line of claim. Tala knew that pressing anymore onward would end in a negative aspect for both her and the pack she had found herself upon. Her pads shifted in the dirt as she let a large breathe fill her lungs. The ash like she wolf let her head spring back as a long, curious howl emerged from her chest. She wanted someone, anyone from this place to know she was here. The noise she made was one to let all know she was here. It was not invasive, or aggressive, it was actually quite passive. All she could do now was wait until, or if, anyone came to investigate her and her motives for coming upon the border. The wolf sat wit her round ears perked for any sound, though they did not rest high on her head, they lay at the mid point between her head and straight forward , her tail, or what was left of it lay level with her hind legs.

Tala for the first time began to pay attention to her surroundings, she could smell a squirrel staring down at her from a tower, it's little heart pounding hard in it's chest. She couldn't help but let out a small chuckle from her chest. That little rodent had nothing to worry about, even if she was starving, climbing that tower seemed to futile for such a small meal. She hugged softly and the small creature took off with great speed. Tala laughed as her tail began to wag briefly from side to side. Tala was good at playing the waiting game, and silence had grown fond of her. The wounds of the forest and the plain had become well known to her. Though it was nearly a year since she lost her mother Tala was still unfond of loneliness. Hopefully this place was the answer to that problem. Though she could easily be chased away with jaws at her heels Tala was hoping for the best. The wolf had a crooked smile set upon her muzzle, glancing around for that nervous squirrel once again. She had to entertain herself somehow while she waited, didn't she?

Who knew exactly how long it would take for anyone to reply, or even care that she was out here? That number was often quite different depending on the pack or the situation within the territory. Tala sat on her rump, her claws digging into the dirt beneath her quite easily as she let out a long breathe. It was all just a waiting game.

Edit: No no, that looks perfect Big GrinD Welcome!!

She wondered how much colder it was going to get. Addison shrugged against the tightness of the coat that she was wrapped up in, feeling a bit uncomfortable in it. All of her clothing was rather tight due to it being made for humans and not luperci, but she tried to deal with it as best she could. It zipped, and that was what mattered. The girl was always cold, always freezing, even in the house, and had made sure to bundle herself up before stepping outside on this chilly day.

Addison had thought that she might head toward the city, but something distracted her. An odd smell. She wondered whether someone was at the border. This thought made the young female turn in her tracks to head toward the area from which the scent had come, her nose working furiously to try and pinpoint it. If someone else was waiting out in the cold..well, she'd have to see what they wanted. She wouldn't want to be stuck out in this type of cold and wouldn't do it to someone else.

The cinnamon-speckled wolf finally came upon the stranger as she crested one of the small hills that surrounded the border area. She raised one mitten-ed hand to wave and acknowledge the wolf as she neared. "Helloooo! Aren't you cold?"

Thank you very much.

Time Goes Faster

Tala was still in her Lupus for, the small slender body of the wolf was set upon heavy breathing as the onset of the cold air hit her lungs. The lack of movement was lowering the temperature in her core, though at a very slow pace. The air felt like it was born of ice, stinging at her lungs if she sat to long. It caused to wolf to stand and pace for a few moments before she would sit back down on her rump. It was tedious, but moving to far from her location could be a terrible choice. Tala let out a long exhale as her amber orbs shut, maybe this attempt was going to be useless after all? No matter, she'd stay here for a few days, after that, if her calls went unheeded, she'd head off once more.

It was then that the scent of a fellow Luperci caught her attention. Tala used her strong hind legs to lift herself to her feet, the air brought the scent to her nose, it got stronger by the moment as the creature from within the border drew near. The cinnamon coloured female caused the wolf to almost beam with a smile. There seemed to be a lack of aggression in her body language, as well as in her tone when she spoke. Cold? Of course she was cold. It was one of the reasons her Lupus form hardly changed while traveling in the summer months, this form of hers had the thickest fur. Though she was generally a thick furred wolf to begin with, it only added while she remained in such a form. "Undoubtedly. Her voice had a hint of a feminine rasp to it, though a light laugh followed. "And Hello. My name is Tala Valourez." Tala's tone was polite, yet soft, the rasp it contained made it necessary to be sure tone herself down in such a situation. "I'm not from around here. I'm not from anywhere really. Well... I was just wondering if I would be allowed permission to walk on these lands, at least to pass through if nothing else." The stubbed tail wagged weakly, it hung low in a submissive form, showing that she had no intention of starting anything.

Staring up at the Luperci Tala remained quite still, this was after all unknown land to her, for all she knew messing with this pack was the wrong thing to do.

:]

She was not her usual, gruff self with newcomers; the normally sarcastic girl kept a smiling, happy face on, ready to please. She didn't want to scare any potential members off with their pack being as small as it was at the moment; she'd be nice. Addison wasn't normally mean to new wolves, or to any wolves really...she was just practicing a bit of impression management when it came to wolves that she met on the border.

Addi approached but was careful to keep enough distance between her and the other. She didn't want to get too close in case the other wolf wasn't friendly. She had to wary just in case; one could never know.

"I'm Addison." She said in reply, noting the female's friendly disposition. She didn't sense hostility and relaxed a little. "I don't see a problem with just passing through--you can come with me, if you'd like. I know a few shortcuts that could get you through faster. You don't come from a pack, you say?" She asked, motioning for the other to walk beside her beyond the border area and into the Valley territory.

The female continued to wag the stub she called her tail in a soft, slow rate. The friendliness that this Luperci was showing to her was almost abnormal to her, after such a long period of being chassed away from borders and greeted with snarls and flared claws. Though she was keeping her distance from her, Tala appriciated this greatly because being lured into a false sense of security was not what she wished for. The last thing she needed was being jumped from behind or having jaws lunged through her flesh without notice. That was almost worse than being warned of it.

"It's a peasure to meet you Addison." Tala only moved once she was motioned to, and she was sure to stay at least 2 paces behind at all times, both for respect and safety. Tala sighed softly, a cloud of mist exhausted from her lungs." "I have not had a pack since I was barely a pup. My mother and I left for.... personal reasons. I've been wandering around, searching for a suitable place to stay for nearly two years." Telling her of her past was not necessary at this point in time. If she was to stay here at any time, and get to know this pack beyond a passing level, maybe then she'd let someone know. "Thank you for the kindness you have shown, it is rather uncommon these days. Especially with summer around the bend." The Lupus padded behind the Luperci, stepping over branches and sweaving through stones.

If the kindness this Luperci showed to her was what most were like in this territory Tala just might want to stick around, if it was possible. She would not stick her head into a place it was not meant to be, and if she was not meant to stay here, she would not pester the inhabitants. However, if the opportunity became clear, she would inquire.

Sorry, the boardwide word-filter game that we're playing has changed your "W inter" into "S ummer" XD

She paid attention to where the stranger was at all times. Addison had been tricked by creatures before, and would be as careful as she could. She supposed that the best option would have been to turn the wolf away and ask her to go around...but then she would have stayed and watched to be sure that Tala had done so, spending even more time doing so. This was close to the same thing, anyway...it was just that she was giving the new wolf an escort instead of following her.

"It's good to meet you too. It's admirable that you were able to keep yourself alive for this long on your own, you know?" She said, continuing the conversation as they walked. "I came here to Phoenix Valle y as a pup and was adopted...left...but came back again. Something drew me back in, I guess. I never thought I was one for pack life, really...but it's a great place to live. Where are you wandering to, if it's not too much to ask?"

Oh... is that why it kept getting Hogwarts randomly popping up? xD Also I'm sorry my posts aren't pretty or anything, I'm sorta working on it. ^^;;

Time Goes Faster

Tala couldn't help but laugh quietly to herself as the word admirable was brought up. It was admirable that Tala had been forced to find her own lowly ways to survive in such a cold and punishing world? She would not describe it as so. "I was not always alone, I would find a fellow wanderer to call a companion for a while from time to time, but things had never been permanent. But yes, for the most part I had to survive on primal instinct alone.... I suppose most can't tell that story." Though she had become somewhat of a scavenger for quite some time, hunting fresh game was difficult, especially if it was anything beyond a fish or a rodent. The Luperci didn't usually dare change from her Lupus form very often, she was most comfortable like this, and it had sort of grown on her to be this small.

Ta;a listened to Addison speak and she glanced over at her with almost admiration, she would have loved to have the option to come back or not. It had not been her choice to leave, it had been a necessity. "I envy you for your luck. You must come from a very wonderful pack." The next question left her in a phase. Where? She had never thought of a destination within words. "To tell the truth, I must admit that I never had anywhere specific in mind. I was looking for somewhere safe and welcoming. I guess I have yet to have found such a place for myself in all of this time." The wolf padded behind her as they walked, mindful of their surroundings and wary of the distance between them. Her round ears were still lowered and her tail stub stuck alongside her legs. The wolf sighed softly to herself as her head lowered in disappointment in her own being. She was rather a sad sight indeed.

Yeah! Lol :] 'S ouls shows up as "Hogwarts", ^^

She listened to what the other said with open ears, now intrigued. Addison didn't need to know the entire story and wouldn't ask it, but she wondered what the female's family had been like. Her own mother had been rather neglectful, and that was why Addison had returned here with her younger sister Grace. She had hoped that Jefferson would welcome her back, and he had.

"Very true" She agreed, nodding. "Ravenclaw is definitely a welcoming place. If you ever get tired of wandering and feel like settling down, you can come back and ask for me. Have the advantage of knowing someone here, haha" She smiled in earnest. Addison was actually starting to warm up a bit, beginning to see a few of the similarities between herself and Tala. "Jefferson, the leader here, is my father. He's a bit rough around the edges...but he's got a good heart."

That explains a lot xD I was completely confused

Time Goes Faster

The words 'welcoming place' to Tala seemed almost alien to her. As Addison spoke them her mouth almost fell agape in awe. Was she being serious? It couldn't be true, Tala had never known much of a welcoming place in her life. Even when she was a pup barely able to take care of herself she saw her family go to war against each other. Her own aunt had denied her because she was on the wrong side of the battle. Tala had met welcoming individuals, but never an entire society that skedaddled on the same sense of peace. Tala shook her head slightly, almost as if shaking off rain water before she couldn't help but smile. "You are very lucky to have that. It sounds truly wonderful to be welcomed back after leaving." The wolf couldn't help but tell the truth. She envied her, envied her luck and circumstances.

Tala looked at her and couldn't help but smile. "My feet have tired of wandering long ago, but I could never ask you of something like taking me in. It's out of my place. Your words are kind though, and I thank you for them." The smile Addison gave her was comforting, and having an actual conversation with her that wasn't about getting off the land immediately before her throat was torn out was a much brighter thought. Tala then blinked, the leader was her father? She had not known, she almost felt low in talking to her so casually. 'I had no idea the leader was your father. Please forgive me for any disrespect I have given." Tala knew she had not, though it was ideal for someone like her to treat a pack wizard like Addison in such a way. At least where she was raised, that's how it skedaddled. Yes she was a bit high strung, but that was from both how she was raised and years of having to show utmost respect to save her life. If you truly knew her, you'd know someone who liked to lay in the sun and run laps around pointless tracks. The small she wolf was not always so blunt and high strung, the circumstances now brought out the respect she had been raised with.

Sorry! ^_^;;;

She didn't know that mentioning Jefferson like that would garner such a reaction and felt a slight pang of guilt; she didn't mean to flaunt the fact; she would have been just as happy if Jefferson was a normal pack m/ember. To her, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. She hadn't thought about what others might think about it. "It's not...ah...I didn't mean to make you think of me any differently. I'm just me. And I was real happy to get to come back here, you're right"

"But really..we're a pack made of wolves who were wandering, looking for a home and support. I can't officially offer, as I'm not the leader..but I can smell that my father is nearby. It really isn't a problem, if you're lookin' for a place. You seem real nice to me." Addison didn't pause in her steps, walking farther and farther into the territory. She'd be glad to see the female stick around if she chose to do so, and gave an encouraging smile.

Guessing by the look of confusion on Addison's face, it seemed quite apparent that being related to the leader here wasn't as a big of a deal as it was when she still had her pack. Back then it had been almost sanctity to be related to the alpha. She felt almost bad for reacting the way she did. This place seemed so much more relaxed, more peaceful. She could get used to such a society. "I'm sorry, I'm not used to this mentality. My pack was far different, and it was a long time ago." Tala did not want Addison to think of her as stuck up or anything like that, she was just showing some of the values her mother and father had raised her on. Respect was key.

Tala listened to the 'offer' she was given by Addison and her eyes perked up slightly in near awe, was she being serious about that? Smelling the air she did pick up hints of other canines nearby, one in particular seemed more prominent than the others. "That's very kind of you, Addison. I appreciate such kindness greatly. Are you sure it's not to much of me to ask? And likewise to you, you seem very kind." The wolf almost let out a nearly goofy smile as she looked up at the Luperci. Tala still had yet to change from her Lupus form.

Treading deeper into the territory Tala was sure to keep a watchful eye on landmarks and surroundings, if she were truly become part of this pack she would need to, if not souly for herself, get a feeling for the land she would call home. If everyone was similar to Addison here, she might just like it here.

I'm not sure if I'll have internet over the next two days or not, but I definitely should on Monday 8D It's Thanksgiving break now for me, but I'm staying with a f/riend this weekend while I work. So that we can keep this going and all, after this post Lin you have permission to PP Addi coming along with them or watching/listening/etc :]

Jefferson would be coming soon; his scent was getting a bit stronger as they walked farther into the lands. Addison kept turning back to talk to Tala as she walked, nodding to acknowledge the other's words. It was rather interesting to hear what this stranger had to say; Addison had only ever experienced life in 'S/ouls and life with her mother and father. "Oh, no, it's cool. We all come from different places with different...eh..cultures, I guess you'd say"

"Dad might ask you a few questions about what you can do for the pack, but even basic things would be good...we could always use more hunters or scouts, you know? It's a big place" She said. Surely they could find some way to use another wolf around the Valley. Addi spent a lot of time fixing fences and tending to the animals, herself.

Tala couldn't help but laugh lightly, sure, people were different depending on where they came from but the atmosphere of her birthplace and here... it was like North and South. As the two walked puffs of breathe escaped through her nose, though once she spoke larger ones consumed the smaller ventilations from her nose. To tell the truth Tala couldn't pick up on ll to many individual scents. It was either he pack was small or territory they lived on was massive. It could be a combination of them both as well. It seemed almost likely the third option was the most likely.

What she could do for the pack? She had not thought about that question for a long time, sure it lingered in her head for when she did find one, but following through with it was more than a thought. Tala already knew what she wanted to do, but if it was necessary was another question. Scouting, it was something she was used to, testing if an area was inhabited, always wary for unusual scents. It was almost like second nature."That's perfectly fine. Freeloaders go nowhere. Though I would not lie, I'm not exactly the strongest beast around. Genetics hit me hard there. However what I lack in muscle I make up for in speed. I can both hunt and scout, whichever is necessary and deemed appropriate." The female laughed, she was not requesting, just notifying of her talents. Working as a team was something she had been taught as a pup, but it was never really enforced, when it had been just her and her mother, Tala had done most of the work even then. She highly doubted it would take her a long time to get used to though, she mind wasn't thick.

When she was alone Tala had spent most of her time knowing where the things around her were and who or what they were. Familiarizing herself with things was nearly a hobby.

Sorry for the delay! I was also out of town. @_@ PPed Addison a little, and finishing this up right here. I'm gonna get you titled now, so go get some threads going! Big Grin Welcome to PV and 'S ouls!

And as Addison had said, indeed he was on his way. The cyclops had detected the stranger's smell past his borderlines possibly before his name had even been mentioned in conversation, but the gimp's three-legged gait slowed him as always. Had there been a call for his presence? Jefferson could hardly remember; he was far too ruffled to notice, really, after the clashing of smells revealed to him that once again, his daughter had unwittingly brought some kind-eyed straggler from the borders into the pack without second thought.

He trusted her beliefs, however, since it was under his morals that she had been raised. Above all else, she went with her guts, as he did himself. Besides, Addison had returned with a pup under her gaze, a reason to maintain safety and privacy in Ravenclaw. The girl was reckless, yes, but not an idiot. This in mind, he came upon them gruff and ruffled, but not bubbling over the surface. "Don't call yourself weak since you lost your tail," he mumbled, single green eye piercing into the stranger. It fell upon her stub of a tail just briefly, but no emotion nor surprise passed within obvious enough to see. Jefferson—one-eyed, three-legged, coated in scars and yet still somewhat beastly in appearance—simply limped past and caught up with his daughter. He sent her one rather knowing but pointed look, then returned to the stranger once more.

"I don't care if that's why you lost it or not; the strong lose more than they win. Hell, you could get stronger if you tried." He had, after all, managed to regain his muscular form despite his once collapse on Ravenclaw borders, emaciated and a skeleton, years ago. Addison was quick to correct him, then attempted to go into detail on the girl's background—but was cut off. "I'm Jefferson," he said, a stony presence in his scarred features. "I don't care what your name is. If you can hunt and scout, fine. Addison thinks you're safe, so you're safe. You're a Loas; get stronger, you'll move up."

He stood, glaring at Addison once more. "Stop bringing people in, will you? Fuck the cold; if they want to stay here, they'll deal with it." He cocked a look at Tala, snorted, and turned away. That said, Jefferson was gone as quickly as he came. Damn the cold.
