Sneaking Out

Let the fun begin!

Melee was not too comfortable wandering away from the pack lands due to the fact that she had no idea who there was out there in the rest of the world, but today she was feeling a little brave. She wanted to see what was out there and maybe met some new wolves that she could make friends with. She slipped out of her home and raced for the borders. The pup could feel the rush of wind through her hair as she ran, but she made sure she was going at an alright pace. She didn’t want to go to fast that she tripped and hurt herself. The girl made it to the borders and looked behind her to make sure that there was no one else coming. Once the coast was clear, she dashed out into the unknown and raced to discover new lands.

Melee found herself wandering around the Eternal Eclipse and had no idea where she was going. She had never been here before so she had no idea where she was or even how to get back home. She was beginning to get a little worried but she shrugged off the feeling to keep her going. The pup wanted to continue on and explore to see what she could find. Perhaps later on she would be able to figure out where she was and return here once again. The girl raced around and stopped in an opening in the woods about half way from the Dahlia de Mai borders. She looked around to see some blue flowers growing there. She approached them and began to sniff them. They smelled so good and they looked pretty too. She smiled and she laid next to them and stared into the sky. She closed her eyes for a moment and wondered if this day could get any better

Because Oak had already taken his first steps outside of Crimson Dreams, he was nowhere near as hesitant to leave this time. His encounter with Shawchert had given him the confidence he needed to race from the Manor, then the borders, into the unknown lands beyond his home. As before, he had no clue where he was going or why, but he fully expected to find out in no time. The winter sun was surprisingly warm on his back, and it had melted the top layer of previously icy snow into slush that stung his paws with cold. Of course, in the effort of warming him, his chilly paws only carried him faster, each step merely tapping the ground briefly. He went a different route than last time, heading north into the forested lands of ethereal eclipse. The forest was deserted; not one bird chirped from the tall, snow dusted trees. Within the forest, Oak felt an eerie energy that caused him to spend only enough time there to get him through as he hurriedly moved toward whatever lie ahead, which he was sure would be better than the lifeless woods.

As he had hoped, the trees thinned and parted into a low lying meadow. Here, most of the snow had melted, revealing yellowing grass and, to his surprise, wildflowers. Oak paused at the mouth of the forest, gazing into the meadow with wide eyes. He had not seen flowers since the first frost, and he was very puzzled by their presence here. But his confusion was a happy one. Maybe he had found the magic that he was looking for in these persistent little flowers. His mother believed that the biggest wonders were to be found nature, and here was the perfect example.

Something else caught his attention while he was spectating the meadow. It stood out amid the green and blue, a little speck of red-brown. For a moment, he imagined that he was seeing himself there, for the colour of the creature's fur was so similar to his. He giggled at his silliness, then headed down the rise into the meadow, wishing to meet this mirror image of himself. As he drew close, he slowed down, scrutinizing what he now knew was a small female pup. It was then that he saw her eyes. Not only was her fur similar to his, her eyes also shared the same cobalt hue of the eyes his mother had given him. He was shocked and pleased, closing the final few feet that separated them with a wide smile on his face.

You know, he started, grinning impishly, You're the most beautifullest girl I ever saw. With that, he sat down, still gazing at her admiringly.

I'm so excited {whoo whee!} And I just can't hide it XD.

Melee was glad to find such a wonderful place outside of the pack lands. It was as if all her worried had slipped away and she found her home away from home. She brushed her paws gently against the flowers as she then rolled onto her back. She was so happy and wished there was something that could make it all better. The pup stared to the sky and watched some birds fly by. They had to of been heading south for the winter. The girl was just happy that today wasn’t too cold for her. She was sure that deeper into the winter season it was going to be colder and she was bound to stay closer to home, but for now she was enjoying the outdoors.

Melee then paused when she heard someone’s voice. She rolled over and quickly rose to her feet and scanned her eyes around. She was on full alert. She flicked her tail before she finally caught sight of the male pup. He looked almost like a lighter version of herself except for that she had one blue eye and one green eye. The pup couldn’t help but smile to see another pup. Perhaps she would be able to make a friend out of him. The girl moved over towards him in curiousity. He was so cute and she wanted to get a better look at him. She made sure not to step on the flowers as she moved over to him.

Melee paused when she heard his comment. She had never heard something like that before. She actually turned red in the cheeks for a bit but she then shook it off as she ventured closer to him. She lowered herself in a playful manor and wagged her tail happily. ”Hiya! You’s really cute.” She bounced a couple time, eager to play with her new friend. ”You wanna pway wif me?”

She seemed alarmed by his sudden appearance, and if she was he couldn't blame her. He had failed to make his presence more obvious, and he was a little ashamed and embarrassed for that. His large ears fell slightly. Sorry 'f I startled you, he spoke softly, apologetically. A pretty little girl like her should never be caught off guard. Being sneaked upon was one of his own biggest pet peeves; he did not appreciate when either of his brothers did it to him. Luckily for Oak, the puppy merely doled out a compliment for him as well, calling him cute. Instantly his own cheeks turned rosy, his smile shrinking with bashfulness, but remaining. This was the first time any girl had commented on his appearance, and it was both strange and wonderful. Butterflies flew wildly in his belly. As he looked into her eyes more directly, he noticed that one of them was not blue after all, but green. He was again struck by how absolutely beautiful this girl was, this time more intensely because he had noticed her unique eyes.

Yeah I wanna play wiff you! the sapling said, his tail beginning to wag. This meadow was the perfect place to play, with its soft bed of grass and flowers. He imagined that he could probably stay here for hours without growing bored, though he was sure he would have to be home before too much time passed. That was all the more reason to get the fun going. He was extremely excited to play with her, and to hopefully get to know her better. Oak had yet to meet any pup outside of Crimson Dreams, which made her all the more interesting to him. First, please tell me your name. He was dying to know. I'm Oak and I'm from Crimson Dreams, he introduced proudly, puffing his chest ever so slightly.

Love that Kiritar you have for Oak. It's so cute :3.

Melee was so happy to meet this male pup and excited that he was as happy to see her as she was to see him. This was the start of something new for her and so far she loved it. She wagged her tail as her apologized and seemed to look her over. She took the moment to look over him more. She loved his reddish hue and blue eyes. He was just so cute in every way and couldn’t wait to get to know him more. The pup rolled around so she was back onto her feet. Her outgoing personality broke through and couldn’t stop showing it. The girl’s tail continued to wag rapidly as she waited to hear for his answer.

Melee bounced a couple times when she heard that he wanted to play with her. This was fantastic. Now she would have someone she could play with who wasn’t in her pack. She wondered if she should tell her dad about her new made friend. She was so excited and perhaps if he knew she was happy then he would let her keep coming back here and letting her play with her new friend. The pup giggled as she thought of what they could play. She didn’t know what kind of games he liked so perhaps it would be better for him to pick out the game that they would play. The girl licked her legs clean as she waited. She was eager, but patient as well. She was just finding it hard to contain her excitement.

The male pup finally introduced himself as Oak from Crimson Dreams. His pack had a nice name to it and his name as even better. She smiled as she moved her ears up. ”My name’s Melee Soul. I’m from Dahila de Mai.” She lowered her head as well as the front of her body. She raised her rear end in the air. ”So what we gonna pway Oak?”

thank you!!

Melee. It was a pretty-sounding name, one that suited the little girl well. He wondered if it had any meaning, like his did as the name of a well known tree. Dahlia de Mai was one of the packs that he had never before heard mentioned, but he repeated the name over a few times in his mind so that he wouldn't forget. Oak yearned to know as much as he could about the world around him, and learning the names of the packs in the area was part of that. So far, he knew of three; his own Crimson Dreams, Inferni (where his father supposedly lived) and now Dahlia de Mai, the home of the cute girl who was bouncing in place before him. There were surely more, but he figured he would soon discover them in one way or another.

His ears rose on top of his skull as she lowered her front half. He hurried to copy her position, his rump in the air, his black-tipped tail waving high. I unno, he growled thoughtfully, trying to come up with something fun for them to do. He and his brothers did a multitude of exciting things together, but their tastes were alike, and he wished to do something that the girl would enjoy. We could play follow the leader and es'plore this place, he finally suggested. He certainly wanted to see more of the field. Hopefully she did too. Or, we could play hide-an'-go-seek, or tag, or... There were so many options. He was content with any and all of them, so he wished for Melee to choose what appealed to her best.

Lol no problem :3

Melee continued to go over the male pup’s name in her head. Oak. It was a nice name and fit the feeling of the woods very well. She even liked how his light brown almost reddish color made him look like the trunk of a tree. She giggled to herself before turning her attention back to him. Even though their packs seemed a distance away from each other, she was glad he came out here and so did she. The pup began to think of what her day would be like if she hadn’t come out here. It would have been a boring day at home. She smiled happily at the thought and then focused on the pup. The girl wanted to get to know him more and learn more about the pack he was from. It sounded like a nice place considering the name. She wondered if maybe one day her dad would be able to take her there so that she could see it for herself and meet some more new people. It was a nice thought, but for now, Oak had her full attention.

Melee listened in curiosity of what game he would pick out to play. It turned out he was just as clueless as she was. She raised her posture back up and lowered her rear to sit. She tried to think of what they could play together. Then Oak said a suggestion that made her spring to her feet with excitement. Hide and seek. She smiled and yipped. ”Let’s play hide and seek Oak. You hide first. I’ll count.” The girl moved over to an old log and places her muzzle and eyes to it. She tried to cover her eyes with her paws as she began to count. She was going to give the male pup quite a bit of time to hide so that they could make the game more interesting.

Oak didn't know what he would have done with his day had he never encountered the female pup. He probably would have been bored all day long, scouting around by himself. That could be okay for a little while, but he didn't like to play alone. It was always so much easier to have fun when there was someone to play with. He rarely had to entertain himself because of his brothers, but today they were strangely nowhere to be found.

His chest warmed and he wagged his tail harder when the young girl displayed her approval of one of the games, hide and seek. She knew the game, and apparently how it was played as well, deciding that she should count and he should hide — maybe she had brothers and sisters to play games with too. Okay! Oak agreed loudly, bouncy with anticipation for their game of hide-and-go-seek, shifting his weight from one side to the other with uneven rocking movements. Close your eyes, no peeking! he warned, though he was still smiling and there was no real command in his voice. He turned away from her, trusting that she would begin counting without looking at him, and gazed across the frosted, yet blooming meadow. He searched down the slope and his eyes paused on a fallen tree. It was a perfect hiding spot. His belly touched the ground as he stalked quietly through the meadow, wincing every time his ungraceful body swished one of the plants surrounding him, causing unwanted noise. Eventually he made it to the dry, pale tree. It was long and skinny, but at its base was a tangle of roots and dirt propped up against the earth. Oak rounded the tree and poked his nose among the roots until he found a spot to squeeze in between the tangles and the ground.

His ears erected, searching for the sound of Melee's counting. He hoped that she would start looking for him soon; it was cramped and uncomfortable where he was.

We can end this soon if you want. WC: 330

Melee was so glad that she was having so much fun with her friend and wished this day would never end. She nodded to the male pup as she turned her head and began to head. She lost count a couple of times before she finally got it right. There were so many times where she wanted to turn her head around and see where her friend was hiding but she didn’t want to cheat. She wanted this to be a fair and very fun game. Perhaps this would even help her out in her tracking for when she was older. Once she was finished counting, she looked around for her friend, though did not see him inmediantly. The girl paused as she stuck her nose in the air. She could smell him and knew this was the easy way of finding him. She followed the pup’s scent trail until she found him in the log. He sure didn’t look very happy to be in his hiding spot but she was sure happy she found him. ”I found you! My tuwn to hide!”

Melee could not believe how much fun she was having. It was like a dream come true. She just hoped that her parents did not find her all the way out here by herself and with a pup from another pack. The pup looked back to the orange male and waited for him to count before she searched for a hiding place. So far it didn’t look like there were many places to hide, but she was sure there was a place hidden somewhere that she could use. It seemed she was not that great at hiding. Eventually she found a tree that had a hole in between the roots. It was big enough for the girl to crawl in and count this as her hiding place. She could not hear her friend’s voice from where she was hiding, but she was sure he would find her.

sure! want to do a fade-to-black? 300+

He could faintly hear the soft sound of her voice, stifling laughter when she stumbled over the numbers. Her trouble with counting just sounded funny — he was no expert either. The girl's voice died down and Oak immediately hunkered flat against the dark earth. The tight space could barely fit his rotund form. He grunted as the moments passed, wishing that she would find him soon. He was impatient to take the role of seeker because it was much more fun than hiding and waiting to be found.

At last he heard the soft whoosh of the young woman's footsteps in the foliage nearby. He wanted to jump out and startle her, but after thinking it through, he decided not to. Frightening the girl could anger her, and he wanted them to remain friends. The russet girl's mismatched eyes appeared at the entrance to his tiny tunnel and the Oak snickered at her, intentionally bumping his nose against hers as he struggled out of the tiny space. As she darted off to hide, the rust-furred boy rounded the tree and pressed his face against the bark. One, two, fwee, five... With effort, he counted to fifty. Here I come! he yelled, leaving the tree, lowering his nose the the ground and starting through the fragrant field. There was not much for her to choose from, but surely there was another spot besides the one he had already taken.

Oak found her trail in moments and followed it to a tree with hollowed roots almost like the one he had hidden in. He peered into the darkness to beautiful green and blue eyes, grinning. There you are. He stepped away from the roots to let her pass. Wanna play again? They did not have to repeat this game, there were many other ways to spend their afternoon together, all of them fun.
