Dancing through life
#1
The Sawtooth male was still exploring the lands and learning the most he could able living in a pack again, one where he had just as much right to breath, eat and be happy as the next being. Though no matter how much he was enjoying him-self and his new freedoms in these lands, he missed him mother, his brother and yes no matter how much he wanted to hate him his father. Moving around the male looked at the couch and then to the blankets and pillows. With a flick of his tail the male pulled all the pillows down to the floor as he laid them on the floor. Stepping back the male looked at what he had made with a please look on his face the male gave a nod as he sat down on the pillows reaching out to the couch he grabbed a blanket with his mouth as he laid down. Nuzzling his head down into the pillow the male found the warmth of the house rather nice. Shifting around he pushed his silver muzzle under the bed of soft pillows with a grunt, he laid there with his eye shut. Now this really was the life.

Rendall had been out hunting this morning. Her skills with the bow and arrow had proven well in the last year though today her skills weren't where they should be. It wasnt the first time she had failed a hunt, and it was good that she still had left over food at her house. She began to head back, thinking about going to the springs again. However fate decided to point her in a different direction. "Another trip down memory lane I suppose." She thought to herself as she approached the ranch. She hadnt been here since she was a little girl who always danced around in the pretty sundress that she got from her mentor.

Smiling at the thought she walked into the barn and enjoyed the warmth and company of the animals for a while before noticing smoke rising from the house. She wondered if Jefferson was home and decided to go bring him company for a while. She knocked a few times before opening the door. Rude yes, but she knew that wolves were welcomed here from time to time so she took the liberty to get out of the cold for a while.

Ren set her bow and arrows down, rubbing the beautiful golden engravings in the wood before heading off to the kitchen to make some hot coca. On her way down she passed a room where the fire seemed to have came from. "Um....Hello? Jefferson? Anybody?" she walked quietly around the couch and saw not Jefferson but the silver male..."Noah...." her voice barely above a whisper. She quickly cupped her hands over her muzzle in hopes as to not wake the sleeping male. She slowly backed out of the room and sneaked her way to the kitchen where she grabbed some jerky, bread, and water in a pot to put up on the stove.

As she made herself comfortable in the kitchen she decided to grab the cloth wrapped around her waist and unravel it into a thin cotton dress. Although she didnt usually wear clothes she learned that relaxing in them when she could kept the chill away. She quickly dressed herself as the pot squealed its ready and she removed the water into a cup which was then joined by some home-made mix from her bag. She sipped happily away when she heard footsteps approaching the doorway.

Noah gave a flick of his ear pushing it forward as he heard the steps, the voice of the spunky yearling called out for the grumpy leader. The opened his good eye keeping the pale blue eye shut, he could feel it twitching under its lid. Then her voice softly called out to him, she must have seen his furry grey rear sticking out the blanket? Or was it that smell that he had? Did he stink? Oh well the Genus would hopefully find out from her. The male watched her as she moved to the kitchen, she moved with a buzz like she was at home in the kitchen. It was strange to the Sawtooth male that someone was cooking and wasn’t out living off the lands like a real wolf should, or dose. The male got out from under the make shift den that he made in the pillows and blanket as he moved towards the kitchen. He sniffed the steam that came out of the pot as she sipped upon the cup that she made from the pot.
Standing there he watched her, rather loses and relaxed like she was alone. The male moved to the kitchen hearing his black and clear talons click against the floor, he jumped back body taking a submissive hold as he held his body only a few inches above the ground. He looked to the kitchen sniffing at the flooring, he had never thought of something giving away his stealth. The male shifted around trying to find a shadow to stand in, hoping that she wouldn’t get upset that he was standing there and wasn’t off sleeping like she must have thought he was doing.

Ren turned slightly but the footsteps stopped. She stopped turning and quietly listened once more. Nothing caught her eyes or ears. She pulled the coca away from her nose and sneezed to clear her air ways. And then took a deep breath. The smell of wood fire and the old house filled her nose. She closed her eyes and searched harder for a wolf scent. Finally, in the dim corner of her senses she found him. He was closer then he use to be. She opened her saphire eyes and looked slightly towards the doorway. Low and Behold a single silver hair layed dancing lightly in the air around it. She smiled. Ren didnt want the game to be over just yet.

She sat back and began to sip on her coca again, pretending not to notice the silver male near the door way. Had she been younger, Rendall would have been to excited to have let the game of hide and seek gone much farther, thats if she had even noticed the male to begin with. However, being with her brother for the past year had taught her to be...observant. She flicked her tail once and twiched her ears, a normal sign that she hadnt quite felt threatened by his presence. Ren kept her senses open and waited for him to make the next move.

OOC hereeee. Is this too shiny for you? :O

Her black fur shimmered with the light that the fire crackled off. He could see with the shimmer in her eye that he had been busted hiding in the shadows. He wasn’t sure if she would be pleased that he was watching her, after all she had seemed a bit upset when she found someone else in her house the last time they had meet. He didn’t want to upset the lass; she was to kind to him to upset her over watching her in the shadows. The male gave a twitch of his ear as he stepped out from the shadows; he kept his head down as he kept his good eye watching her. Dipping his head down he stepped onto the hard flooring, he cringed hearing the nails clicking against the floor. He wanted to be stealth and undetected. He stepped back with a gulped shaking his head as he pushed forward again."Rendall" He almost whispered out the black babe’s name.

Moving into the kitchen the four legged male stopped a few feet from her, quite happy with being in his own little circle as he lowered him-self down into a sit, he pulled his tail around his feet as he kept his milky blue eye shut, he knew that she would see the scars if she had not been subject to the horror of seeing them already.

Nope its good ^.^

She smiled at the mention of her name. She always reveled at the thought of hearing the silent apeak now and then. Ren turned and looked at the male on the floor. She wagged her tail slightly showing that his presence was welcome. Ren noticed how the male closed his blind eye. Though she really wasnt bothered by it. Being around Jefferson and planty of other scarred males and females all her life she learned to smile at the pink angry things instead of fear them. Though her smile lessened alittle at seeing the male ashamed of himself. She didnt like seeing anyone like and had she had the power, she would have taken it away.

Rendall knew the life of being stared at or feared. It was one of the reasons she had returned. Being tired of frightening people she came back to the one place where noone did. So instead of lingering on the fact, she looked down at him with a smile and lifted her cup."Would you like something to drink? Its nice and warm." She wondered if the male was use to living like a luperci. He was probably used to living on his own, where a wolf didnt have to take care of anything but himself. Things got simple when life got that way. She tossed the thought aside and tilted her head over towards the other seat. As she turned though back to the bread and coca, she let her dress slip up a bit, revealing the nasty scar that raked over her leg. Hopefully he wouldnt feel as self-concious now. though she knew one scar wasnt equal to another, perhaps he would understand the message she was trying to give him.....that a scar didnt make the person. It just gave them another story to hate to talk about.

It was a much unknown fact that the silver male did not know how to shift from one body shape to the other. For some it just came to them, some had to be taught, Noah was one that needed to be shown how to shape shift, and no one ever was around to show him how to shift from four to two legs. The silver sable male figured that he would never know the joys of walking upon two legs, and it actually frightened him to think about walking on two legs, and not falling flat on your face. The brute gave a dip of his head as she gave him a welcoming wag of her tail, she had always been so kind to him, even with youth at her disadvantage she acted much older and far kinder then the yearlings he was use to dealing with.
Walking in just far enough that it was clear to her that he was there to just talk and hang out with her the male sat down, pulling his tail over his back paws. At the offer of a drink the male thought about it for a second and shook his head no. It was a very kind offer but he would look foolish trying to drink out of a cup like a common dog while she was being ever so classy of a lady and sipping it out of a cup humanoid like. He gave his head a dip holding it down for a second and then pulling it back up smiling at the classy lady.

Sorry for the major shortness XP

Ren wondered why the male didnt take the seat by her, perhaps he as one of those who preferred his lupus form more. So instead she put her cup aside and, after ridding herself of the dress, switched to her form and sat down in front of him. Perhaps he would feel better in the other room. She looked up at him with her big blue eyes. Why didnt he talk? Ren recalled how she ran into a pup once who had a broken voice. The childs vioce throut had been injured thus leaving her voice scratchy and broken....perhaps his voice was broken too. She studied him for a moment, wondering what he was thinking about. She nuzzled him slightly, if he was uncomfortable in her language then she would speak his, and lead the way back into the warmer room. Making herself comfortable on the floor she yipped for him to join her.

Out of Character

No worries :3 WC:300

In Character

The male watched the babe rid her-self of her clothing. He felt the warmth of his blood rush to his face as he looked down and away. She should have warned him he would have done the respectable thing and walked away, and allowed her to change out of her outfit; with a gasp he quickly turned his back to her. He felt so much shame seeing her come out of her dress in her two legged body. He felt sick with shame for not turning his head soon enough. It wasn’t that she wasn’t pretty or even attractive, she was however the male didn’t want to let his heart be caught out on the line again for it to be hurt again once was enough for him.

Hearing the cracking and shifting of the ebony lady’s bone the male hear her sit down after a short bit. Daring to look back at her, the male saw her four legged sitting there in front of him. With her soft nuzzle the male jolted a bit still getting use to being touched in a kind way by others, but he smiled with soft nuzzle back to the lady, stepping to the side as she moved past him as she walked into the big area in front of the fire. Noah gave a wave of his tail as she yip for him to join her. With a quick but smooth nod of his head he turned around and walked over to her, walking over to her the male took the blanket and brought it around her, pushing into her side making a warm little nest for the lady in the middle of the blanket mess. Sitting down outside to the nest, Noah smiled softly looking over to the flicking flames of the fire.”Pretty”

Rendall felt embarassed for making the male feel that way. She had been so use to how the males on the outside had treated her, she forgot how others may have felt about her actions. She didnt mean to do that to poor Noah. She smiled a bit when he placed the blanket down for her, what a gentleman, she wasnt use to those..... Ren watched the flames with him abit before replying to him "Yes they are...my mother use to tell me stories about how men and wolves would tame fire. How they contained it in things like matches, rocks, and other stuff." She recalled everything in the month after they were chased out of the pack. Her mother would comfort her with tales and stories every night, filling the pup with hope and hapiness in thier bleakest time.

She sighed and put her head down between her paws, that seemed so long ago even thoguh it was only what a year and a half since then? She missed her mother still. Rendall's curiousity perked up again."Where did you come from Noah? You dont have to tell me if you dont want to.... I know its alittle rude to ask of ones past." Ren never did like intruding anothers comfort zone. It was why she wore all her scarves to cover up any scars she had, to keep people from asking...though then they started to ask why all the cloth? She guessed that people would always ask things. It didnt matter.

The male looked over at her to make sure that she was still okay and that she was still there by his side, though he knew he would have heard her leave if she did decide to leave him there for whatever reason. Smiling at her he looked back to the flickering flames, and then down to the amber his face returned back to a neutral look as he watched them dance. The fire was like a siren with no face. It had the gift to draw a being in to its powerful magic, and could take their life from them if not damage them after it was too late. Flicking his ear the male didn’t look away to her, but he was very sure that she knew he was there listening to whatever she was saying. ”Oh?” He figured it wasn’t too far from the truth after all they had tamed this area for a fire, it always seemed to be burring and yet the sable male wasn’t sure who tended after it. He could only figure it was Jefferson.

Her next question wasn’t a huge surprise for him, ever one always wanted to know where you came from and why you where here now and not with the family you left, some had no choice other was ready for a change. Noah…well he was both. ”South, ver..errrrrrrr..verrrrieeee very South. He snarled raising his lips looking at the ambers lowering his head and ears.

She looked over at the male curiously, so thats why he doesnt talk very much, he stutters. She half-grinned and turned back to the flames, happy that he didnt mind her question too much. "What was it like down there?" She tried to stick to questions that wouldnt require long answers though something about this male wanted her to ask everything. Her curiousity about him went above and beyond though so did her self control.

She patiently waited for him to talk some more as she watched the fire creature. She thought of it as docile sometimes, but wild at others. Her brother Vulcan was always called Aldrnari Skinn by the females on shore, it meant fire fur, when they had cault glimpse of Rendall..... the world came to know her as Logr Barn, water child. The males on shore and off never came near her for fear that she would drag them to the bottom of the ocean. She chuckled to herself, the only ones that didnt secretly fear her was her brother and the old captain.

Ren listened to Noah quietly as she continued to watch the flames dance around vigorously.

Sorry I kept you waiting. WC:300+

Fire was a tool that many wanted to be able to master and yet the truth was, fire could never be mastered. It could never be tamed, fact was that every one else that thought that they could harness it and tame it, found out that you had to allow the fire to tame you and teach you how to use it. Foolish human probably where destroyed by their own lust for power to control ever thing that the fire probably was what really started the downfall of their kind. The male shifted his ear to where the back faded babe sat she had so many question and Noah remember not that long ago how he had question after question he wanted answered and yet no one to fulfill his want for answers. Strange…” He gave a sad sigh with a shake of his head, he missed his family, he was happy with the pack and every one in it that he had meet so far but nothing could take the place of his mother, father, and brothers. Packs here at Souls were far more welcoming. Once you where a part of the pack they took care of you and welcomed you into the lands as if you where family. Where the Sawtooth came from you were just a number and an extra mouth to feed that was all and nothing more. The male can say he did find peace here, and he did find his phobia of being harmed every day slowly going away with time; however it was still there thanks to his father and his power hungry friends. The silver male looked over to the black babe, with an interest twinkling away in his eye. ”You? The male kept his good eye upon her while keeping his milky colored blind eye shut.

sorry for the wait

Ren glanced over at the male when she heard him sigh. He must miss his family so..... Ren thought of Vulcan and her sisters. She missed them too. And the thought of her humble father and her gentle mother. She found herself sighing too. When Noah asked her she thought of the place that was blackened with ash and abandoned. her home was no more. But it was once beautiful...."It was quiet.....calm. peaceful. green and beautiful. It was much like this place. But it was more cold in the winters, and there were more mountains. Tall and snowy. We lived in a vally much like this, but larger. And it was closer to an abandoned city. But....it was more hostile then this place." she looked over and observed the silver male that was looking at her. In the fire light he was fairly handsome....however Ren would never tell a male such things. It always made things awkward and she was never female enough to be a chosen mate to any male, that as well as their strange fear of her. However, it was a life she learned to cope with.

Rendall turned back to the fire. Nothing could make her happier then doing this with a friend. Talking happily, she wagged her tail alittle and nugded alittle closer to Noah. She spoke cautiously with her next words. "What....was your family like?"

They looked at each other to a short brief moment in time and nothing was said, they just looked at each other and the silver male pulled his look away from her, still unsure if it was shame or fear of scaring someone with the milky colored eye. With a grunt he looked down at his ashen colored paws. He gave a nod as he spoke about her pack that she once lived in, it was strange to sit and think about a past when they were both a member of this pack and was suppose to look to the next day for hope and promise and not to look back. They both missed a part of their home lands however both seemed to be thankful that they were in a better place.
What she asked next was like a dagger to his heart; he grunted and shut his eyes. He didn’t want to talk about it, it still hurt him. She did ask about it and it would be rather rude not to answer her. My father iu..ish…is into drugs. He was puh..po..power hunger drove hu..hem..him mad. Rendall's sadness seemed to spread like a thick fog in the room. She regretted asking the question. It was always rude to ask of ones past. She then did something she herself was suprised at. She got up, walked over to the male, layed down next to him, and started to gently bathe behind his ears and neck. It had comforted her when she was little and it was her way of saying sorry."I'm....sorry. I did not mean to bring up such painful memories."She layed there for a momen. Comforting her friend in the fire light, everyone came from a horrid past, but sometimes, they never had a comfort zone, a place to escape to. They just had to learn to deal with it. She was glad she never had a life like that, and she knew she could never understand the pain of those who did. However, she could give them the comfort they never had.

Ren removed the small golden locket from her neck and set it in front of Noah."This was given to me by my mother before she passed on. She was killed by our alpha along with my father, murdered by a power hungry she-wolf that was afraid of who we were as luperci. We were never allowed to shift in pack lands either." It was a very long story that she didnt want to explain."Perhaps I'll share the whole story one day, for now, like you, I try to leave it in the past." She sat there for a while longer gently comforting the male and watching the flames. She remembered having to learn to shift on her own the month after her mother died. It was a long, scary, and painful proccess, but she some how managed to do it. After a while of mulling the subject around she had a more hopefully happier thought in her head. Like always she couldnt keep it to herself"Say, do you like necklaces? I found a pendent you might like." She smiled and went to her bow in the other room to retrieve it.

Soft tender touches did alarm the male a bit, he knew she wouldn’t hurt him...or well he hoped that she wouldn’t bring him any harm. Flicking his ear and half up and both eyes jolting open he gave his nose a twitch just in case he could smell Lucifer or one of his chum little buddies. He knew she couldn’t possible allow her-self to fall to his level of hate and coldness, however odder things have happened. Without even a hint of a smell of Unwritten pack lands within her coat the male arced his neck around, almost wolf like hugging her arm.

With a slight chuckle as she told her story how her family was not allowed to shift, the silver male couldn’t help to find irony within that context. His family full of shifters, his grandmother cursed her lover and enemy with the illness that gifted him the body to shift. Noah’s whole family knew how to shift, and yet he was the one that seemed to inherit the gene to make his stupid, for Noah was quite sure that he wasn’t able to shift what so ever. Flating his ears against his head, and lowering his head down and pushing his eyes down also, he felt bad for laughing. ”My brother wouh..woohh…uuuuhhh..would make fun uh..uhff…off..of me if kn..nuh..nu..knew I couldn’t sh…hiittt…ffft….ttttttuuu…shift.” He let out a gasp of air fearing that she might not have understood his words, he feared that he was just going to have to stop talking because of his stutter getting worst.

Lifting his head the male looked at the charm upon the ebony babe’s necklace, the power that it held to her was great. Noah soft of wished that he had something that he could show off and be all like ‘look what my mom passed down to me’ when really all he had left to think of her by was these pack lands and she left them in a horrid state from what Jefferson had told him. Shame that his own mother would probably would never return to her throne and now he lived in her old lands without a family member that knew him well. With a nod he watched her as she moved about her house.

Ren was comforted by the males slight relaxation around her. It made her feel good knowing that he could trust her. At first when he tensed at her actions she almost stopped, frightened that she hurt him. But when he layed his head against her arm she couldnt help but grin slightly. She felt alittle slighted at his chuckle but barely noticed the way he acted afterwards. She realized he didnt mean to hurt her feelings. Ren felt alittle better at the thought.

Rendall listened patiently. She usually wasnt patient like most, but, she didnt want to hurt the males feelings. So she instead listened carefully to what the half-blind one had to say. Boy was she suprised...... A luperci that didnt know how to shift? How interesting.....she heard his gasp and looked alarmed at him but realaxed after she observed nothing wrong. After she got up and went to her bow she grabbed a small velvet bag tied around the wood at the bottom. She came back and removed a smal silver charm and laid it in front of the bag."Forgive me but I never met a luperci who didnt know how to shift. Perhaps..if you dont mind, I could teach you. Its hard to learn and a little painful but once you get the hang of it, its like stepping through a doorway."

The charm she laid out was simple, a buck. The male reminded her of the stage she saw every once in a while. The reagal male would watch her daily when her and Vulcan live in the mountains. She would go and gather water and find him doing nothing but simcply watch her. In a way she thought of Noah as the buck. He was a gentlemen, never asked any rude questions, just observed. Though she didnt think of the similarities until now. She had found the charm in the city and had kept it with her, wondering about who to give it to. Finally she found someone."I want you to have it." she looked down shyly when she said the words. Looking at the floor like a little girl meeting someone the first time.

Noah would have felt horrid if he knew that he alone had hurt her feelings. He wouldn’t dream of that, he was not his father, he was one of his offspring but he wouldn’t allow him-self to turn into him. The Sawtooth male watched the lady as she moved so softly across the room she moved like a well trained and very well skilled huntress. The silver male felt awful for watching her in her own home but he was trying to keep somewhat of an eye contact with her as she spoke. Another soft laugh tickled out of his mouth and he lowered his head thinking. So many kind souls had walked into his life almost overnight, truly what luck he had found being able to meet so many kind faces. It was like night and day between these two homes. Lifting his good ear, she said a word that he was a very close and personal pal with. Pain…eh?” With a sigh he folded his ear back down. Thinking about it he couldn’t see a reason why not to learn, he just didn’t want to let any of his family knowing that he didn’t have the knowledge of shifting.

With a whine he looked up to her, extending a paw out in front of the other one, like a judge slamming his hammer on its wooden base. ”Secret?!” He had a cousin that living in these lands, and a brother not that far away. He would feel great shame if either of them caught wind of these actions. He looked up to Jazper, he had everything that Noah wanted and yet the silver man couldn’t be happier for him. It was what family did after all; well Noah’s idea of family did that anyways.

She came back with a stunning charm, of a stag, a king of the forest. Always walking around with his crown upon his head, watching over his lands and all that entered into it. Not making a move unless given a reason, he allowed life to play out on its own. Looking at the well taken care of charm the male was able to see his reflection in the charm. ”You sure? It was a very handsome charm and the Sawtooth male knew he would wear it with great pride, but he wanted to make sure she was sure about departing with the charm.

Ren turned and looked at the male when he said secret. She couldnt quite understand his reasoning for being so but she would happily ablige to his request. She smiled and nodded "Mhm. noone has to know, well do it some palce where noone else knows where it is. That way noone has to watch if you have trouble and, the only ones that will know about it is me and you. If it gets cols outside we can even practice inside my cabin. Behind closed doors so to speak" She winked at him trustingly, being a natural scout she found lots of little hiding places in the vally where she could teach him such secretive things.

Rendall looked up at him and blushed looking back down quickly."Yes a gift from one to another." She nugded the charm towards him. It fit him well. She observed the fire for a little while, avoiding eye contact for fear that her blushing would have been given away. Finally though she turned back to the male as another question entered her mind. "Do you have any family here Noah?" She was sad that she never had anyone of true relations live here, though a friend they had met in Egypt had come here once, Laidaria had been her name but she soon left as quickly as she had arrived. Knowing that the only business the wolfess had here was delivering a letter to Xeris about Rendalls intended return.

Though she was saddened at first, she knew she would eventually build her own family here, though that required a certain thing that Rendall had not yet accomplished......She almost blushed again at the thought but kept her reaction hopefully unnoticed. Finding a mate wasnt exactly on Rendall's top priority list, again, the thought of getting close to a male was a bit alarming for her. Well get over that wall eventually, She thought to herself, for now though, friends and home first. She continued to think alittle to herself. Keeping tabs on Noah to make sure she wasnt ignoring him, every now and then she would look his way. Waiting for him to speak again.
