It was a beautiful morning. Crisp and cool, fresh and... Alright, so maybe it was a little bit chilly. China brushed away the thought with an absent wave of her hand. The Earthmother was beautiful in all seasons, not just those who were kinder to those of low body-fat. However, the cooler each morning grew, the more the young Lykoi wished that she and her sister had a more permanent place of residence - Somewhere a little less drafty that a canopy of trees, perhaps. The Forest of Nod sure was beautiful, but with winter bristling her ivory teeth, it was time they moved towards the heart of Inferni lands.

China rose from where she had been lying, on a rather comfortable bedding of rotting pine leaves. Shaking herself briskly, the rather skinny optime female stretched out luxuriously, yawned widely, and opened her tranquil Lapis Lazuli eyes to the wondrous lands of Inferni. Home.

As usual, her sister seemed to have risen before her, but the body warmth still lingered from where Sage had been - She mustn't be far. With habitual worry before setting out after her kindred, China checked the bandage on her upper right arm, noting with a sigh of relief that her treasured reed pipe was in it, as always. Then, humming a lilting and somewhat absent tune to herself, the starry-eyed girl rose to her feet gracefully and wandered out from her haven of trees. "Sage? Where are you, honey?" Gentle sing-song voice called, her feet treading a lackadaisical path which she suspected her sister had previously.

Despite the frigid temperature at this hour, Sage had risen early. Not wanting to disturb her sleeping sibling, China, she'd crept away in silence. Sage had wrapped herself in a rabbit-fur blanket of her own making, and was making a wide perimeter around their campsite, digging small holes in the frozen and planting a few seeds in each, and continuing on. The girl hummed to herself as she went, small clouds of mist flowing out of her nostrils at a steady interval. Not unintelligent, she knew that most of the seeds would not sprout yet, but she hoped that come spring they would welcome the sun and rain and come to join their redwood brothers.

The sandy Lykoi girl stood now from the squatting position which had begun to annoy her back. She stretched a bit, and turned to head back to her sister. As she walked the path back instinctively, her gaze wandered to the right. A tree stood, presenting to her a noisy little woodpecker, straight in the center of its trunk. She smiled, intrigued, and walked closer, taking out her sketchbook. As quickly as she could, the girl made a sketch of the bird, catching the details of its head just before it took off. Thank you, little bird! She thought, having missed the chance to thank him in his tongue. As soon as she'd put away her drawings, she head the familiar voice of China in the near distance.

"Sage? Where are you, honey?" China called out, her voice beautiful on the light breeze.

"I'm right here!" Sage replied in an equally harmonic tone. She started into a happy skip back to their camp, and it was only a few steps before her sister was in sight. She raised a hand in mild greeting to her sister, approaching her with a swift grace. The girl pulled China into close a hug and threw the blanket around both of them. "Lovely morning; the weather seems to be testing us today!" And we shall pass will full marks!

"I hope I didn't cause you to worry." she said, a hint of concern in her eyes.

It was only a moment until she heard, sweet and merry, the tune of Sage. Large, dark satellite ears cupped forwards towards the sound, until the brush parted to reveal China's sister. Sage was, undoubtedly, beautiful - Like her siblings, she had such graceful motion and lithe frame. Maybe it was her sister's beauty that, temporarily, had created that uncomfortable feeling of worry within China; Maybe it was the fact that this place, home though it may be, was still strange and alien to her. Regardless, wrapping her arms around the sandy-pelted girl instantly eased the Lykoi princess of her qualms. A brilliant smile spread over her pixie maw as she snuggled in under the pretty rabbit-pelt blanket.

To her sister's remark, China chuckled softly, already feeling much happier and loving now that she was no longer as cold. "That it is! Earthmother has made the change quicker this year," A quick frown pulled over China's delicate features, but she concealed it quickly, not wanting her lovely sister to pick up on her unease. Winter had come in strong and fast, and it was lucky that they were with a clan now, or else they'd be braving the elements alone - Neither sister being particularly skilled at hunting, even reluctant to do so. Pulled from her thoughts by Sage's lilting voice, China smiled again. "Oh no, sweetie, of course not. We're safe here, I just know it," And to show that she was genuine, the silver-dappled girl slung one arm about her sister's slender waist, taking the opportunity to hitch up her short denim skirt and settle it more comfortably about slim hips.

Sage's body was nice and warm, and she smiled appreciatively. "You've been out planting again this morning, have you?" She grinned approvingly. Sage knew the worth of spreading life wherever she went, and it was China's loss that she was not quite as dedicated as her pure-hearted sister. Suddenly, and unexpectedly, she felt a strong pull of protective love for her sibling - Nobody should ever be unhappy, but for Sage to be unhappy... Well, China would do everything in her will to make sure that Sage was never unhappy. And when they caught up with Clover, and the trio were together again, surely happiness would be all there was. The prospect was delightful, and the silver and tan Lykoi girl looked for to it with all her heart. They would find Father, and all would be love and peace once more.

China's body was warm and comfortable; a welcome feeling against the frigid air. Sage leaned against her sister lovingly as China placed an arm around her waist. The Lykoi girl was glad to have family in this strange place. Though she was enjoying it's comforts, it was still new and mostly unknown. It was wonder and intrigue for new places and sights that kept her spirits aloft as she explored the area with her sister, who she cherished so dearly.

"That it is! Earthmother has made the change quicker this year," China commented.

Sage nodded a response, but said nothing more. It was true, the Earth had changed sooner. The sandy girl furrowed her brow briefly, questioning the seasons' timing in her mind. Nevertheless, they would be prepared for the winter soon. Together, she and China would prepare a beautiful, cozy and safe home. It might be challenging, but life wouldn't be worthwhile without the Earth Mother's obstacles!

"Oh no, sweetie, of course not. We're safe here, I just know it," came China's response to Sage's expression of worry.

"I know we are...If Daddy's here, we must be!" she added in her soft, dreamy voice with another warm smile. "Did you sleep well, sister?"

The young Lykoi girl missed other family; she longed to see Daddy, but where was he? She sighed and glanced around briefly, as if wondering whether he might show up here, now.

"You've been out planting again this morning, have you?" China asked, approval in her tone.

"Why yes, I have! I hope in spring we'll see lots of wonderful new growth!" she said excitedly, grinning as she spoke.

Sage motioned with a blanketed arm around the landscape, indicating where she'd tossed her seeds. The sand-colored girl was grateful that her sister shared her appreciation and desire for nature and its products.

Sage's reply to her comment on their safety made China feel all jittery again. She wasn't entirely sure why - She craved seeing their father just as much as her sister did. It was, after all, the reason they had traveled to this place; That, and because China wanted to show the tawny girl the home of their extended family. She had been here once before, but those had been dangerous times, far too dangerous for the likes of her naive, pure-hearted sister. China herself had been unable to withstand the strain that the war had placed upon her! Why, it had been like the earthmother had deserted this place! But now, both sisters were back, and with every handful of seeds that Sage planted, they were helping the earthmother to reclaim the land, and the peace.

She was very proud of her sister, but increasingly protective of her, too. It was this place, China decided - This land, bringing out the bad blood in her. She would have to concentrate hard so as not to stray from the loving teachings of Juniper Peace; it would be difficult for the mischievous sister, but so long as she had Sage, she would be fine.

"Yes, honey, I did," She ignored the ache in the small of her back that had developed from sleeping on the cold, hard ground, and smiled at her dark-haired sibling, "But I think we will have to find a place of our own soon, Sage. Earthmother wont hold back the snow just for the likes of us!" She laughed gaily at the thought, deviant blue eyes sparkling. This same gaze followed the sweep of her sisters hand, taking in the area which Sage had scattered with seeds. It was an impressive coverage - She must have gotten up rather early indeed! China snuggled in closer to the other girl's slender frame, suppressing a shiver at the thought of getting up before the sun was good and strong, especially in such cool weather.

Because she was wide awake now, China focused her thoughts on the day ahead. She and her sister would probably travel to the edge of the Forest of Nod, and maybe they would meet some new faces along the way. Returning her attention back to her lovely young sister, the silver-dappled Lykoi girl steered her back to their makeshift campsite. "Come, let's gather our things - It's looking to be a beautiful day. Have you got your drawing stuff?" She didn't recall what the tools were called, even though Sage knew them back to front. China just liked looking at the end result of her sister's artistic talent.

There was a wolf loose in the forest.

Truth be told, he was not a wolf except in build, but to prowling eyes who did not know the difference it would be hard to spot. Gabriel was as large as a wolf and had wolf-like markings, and he walked like a wolf. Oddly enough though, he did not consider himself such. While the wolf was a large part of who he was, it was only blood and nothing more. Yet the wolf was instinct and blood that had made him capable of fighting and surviving against them, and of holding together a clan of coyotes that would otherwise likely have no reason to live together. His wolfish traditions had forced him to keep a chain of command and a rule of dominance viable. Warrior-king as he was, Gabriel knew that Inferni’s survival lay with the wolf as much as it did with his coyote fighting techniques.

Today was not a day for war, though, nor a day for much else. He patrolled constantly, occasionally running into strangers, but more often than not finding nothing. Nothing was always better than another dead body, but thankfully they had been without those for some time. Peace, when it came to Inferni, was welcomed. At least for a time, that was. Gabriel tired of the repetition and the endless boredom, but he would not argue against seeing his family safe. Since Itachi’s stunt with Kaena, he had become wary of the possibility of another Haku—he did not wish to think of it as such, but he saw the same darkness in his grand-nephew as he had seen in that beast. Hopefully, though, Itachi would learn as Haku had not that Inferni and Gabriel would crush those who opposed them.

It was not his desire to kill more of his family.

The cold did not bother him, thanks once again to his wolfish pelt. Thickly furred he was only bothered by the bare patches of skin, but movement limited this to an occasional annoyance. It was the wind that bothered these the most. Snorting bullishly, the Aquila shook his neck and paused to mark a tree. As he finished, the sound of voices floated to him over the wind. While they certainly did not carry the tone of intruders, he was curious as to who would be so far north in the territory. Most of the clan stuck towards the center or south-east of the Waste, finding the open area or Mansion more inviting than the dark forest that Gabriel loved so much.

He approached easily, making little effort to move silently, following the well-worn tracks that made for easy travel in a place that would otherwise be difficult to navigate. Gabriel did not stand out against the mottled forest, thanks to his sable pelt, but he did not try and hide—it was not his goal to sneak up or startle what he was now certain were clan members. Noisy ones at that.

"Yes, honey, I did," said China gently, "But I think we will have to find a place of our own soon, Sage. Earthmother wont hold back the snow just for the likes of us!"

Amidst her excited morning energy, Sage had mostly forgotten that the pair didn't really have a specific place to stay, yet. They were technically homeless, according to some; but wasn't home wherever the heart was? So in that sense, it didn't matter that they had no long-term place to rest their young but weary muscles. China seemed a bit concerned about being so vulnerable here, though, which was certainly understandable, and as she mentioned it, Sage gave an encouraged nod of agreement.

"Alright, then, where shall we go?" she asked dreamily, nuzzling her face into China's neck momentarily, warming her cold nose on her silvery sister's warm skin and fur. She broke away and pulled back from her sister, entwining her fingers with China's as she said: "D'Neville Mansion looks nice; I know a lot of our family lives in there." Her eyes wandered around the landscape as she tried to recall other places that might be suitable for their living. "Or, we could find a nice cave, maybe? Wherever you like, China, I'll go." she finished with a smile; after all, it was her sister that was more inclined to find a home. Sage would certainly have a good time decorating it later, though.

"Come, let's gather our things - It's looking to be a beautiful day. Have you got your drawing stuff?"

The sandy Lykoi girl nodded released her sisters warm hands, taking the blanket off of herself now and placing it around her sister with a smile. Then, she turned, drifting gently back to their camp, yellow eyes wandering around where they had slept, making sure nothing was left behind.. Really, she didn't have much yet. Nearly everything she owned was in her bag, save a few clothing items which could easily be carried. The girl noticed a pencil on the ground and grabbed it up, not wanting to leave any unnecessary litter; even if it was made from the Earth itself.

"I've got that pencil, so..." she said quietly to herself, double-checking the spot before she spoke a confirmation to her sister. "Yes, China, we've got it all, it seems!" she called back, her voice as soft as always.

Sage turned and walked towards her sister again, but this time, something else caught her attention. There was something moving between the trees. Catching her sister's eyes, she nodded towards the shape, hoping she would notice, too. Sage's nose went to work trying to determine the scent, but it wasn't one she knew. Curiously, her brow furrowed and she approached somewhat slowly, yellow eyes still adjusting to the camouflaged figure. It was a wolf. Here?! No... Sadly she knew that that would not happen, so she looked closer, as it was much more likely that he was a hybrid of some sort. He was handsome: dark brown fur with a lighter belly, and she could barely tell, but his eyes looked to be a pretty color, almost like honey.

With a broad smile she approached, noticing as she did that this man was quite scarred, and he wore a cross around his neck; a symbol she knew to be related to a human's religion. There were other things, too, but nothing she recognized. He was large in his lupus form, and Sage knew that if he'd been in Optime he would have been towering above her. The man looked powerful, but he did not attack, and therefore Sage was not afraid.

She reached a small hand upwards, forming it into a gentle wave. Who was this good-looking stranger? The girl gave a smile as she stopped, standing only a few feet away from him, yellow eyes darting again over his body.

"Hello there! You're very handsome; it's a shame you're all scarred up like that." she said gently, almost sadly. To Sage, scars were memories that often would be better off forgotten. "I'm Sage River Lykoi," she said, an arm extending fluidly, petite fingers reaching down towards his paw and turning her head over her shoulder to nod at her sister, "and that's my sister."

To her sister's question, China made a small and thoughtful noise in the back of her throat, her blushed fingers twining with the other girl's soft tan. While Sage spoke of their options, the silvery girl thought of the home they had left behind, and wondered (with enough hope to appease her loving sister) where it might be that the pair would find the best fit.

Perhaps, she thought, Clover would know of a place where the two of them could dwell. Their third sister new Inferni far better than the two newcomers. China resolved to ask her on the matter, later. Later, later. They had plenty of time to think of such things - What was the point of fretting over something that could not be resolved in this lovely moment? Fixing a calm smile on her sweet, doll-like face, the girl snuggled gratefully into the rabbit cloak as Sage hopped about, gathering the small amount of their belongings. The two hippiechildren travelled light, as was the way they preferred - Too many material things would serve only to weigh down a buoyant soul. Besides, they took only what they needed, and left the rest in the gracious hands of the Earthmother.

Sage chimed sweetly, letting her sister know that they were ready to depart, leaving the small campsite as pristine as when they had arrived. "Alright, sweetie, let us be on our way, then-" A quick glance at the other Lykoi daughter's suddenly aware honey-slivered gaze alerted China to the presence of a third party. For not the first time, the silvery girl was surprised at how observant her usually vague and dreamy sister could be; Not that the stranger was making an attempt to silence his approach, but regardless, Sage's unlikely observation made a small fluttering of reassurance bloom in her protective sister's chest. Perhaps she was not so vulnerable after all.

Following her sister's suit, China approached the fourlegged male, albeit with a slightly more tentative smile. He had many scars, and that probably meant he had been in many fights - Best that the peace-loving duo keep themselves in check until his identity was revealed. Coming to a stop beside her sister, the silvery child observed the male with an intensely measuring look. She felt as though she had seen him once before, perhaps the last time she had briefly appeared on Inferni soil... But she had not met him in person, of that the girl was sure. Knowing that the two were clearly recognisable as Lykoi brethren - Sage, with Razekiel's physical appearance thick in her own blood, and China herself remarkably alike Kaena in appearance - she did not feel threatened by this fellow, who smelt so much of Inferni that it was as if he had almost become a part of the place itself. Allowing herself to be lulled by this thought, the silvery girl offered a placid, pretty smile.

"I'm China Rose," She chimed in after Sage's introduction, her fingers clasping to pull the rabbit furs a little closer. "Who're you, mister mysterious?"

Word Count→#000 :: Ugh this is a horrible post, I apologize.

The two girls approached him, and before they even introduce themselves he could see they were sisters. It was obvious enough despite their different colors. He saw similar bone structure, similar build, and they spoke in a similar fashion—much like someone else he knew all too well. Gabriel observed them as they spoke and smiled, offering a singular tail wag to reassure them of his presence. Lack of fear was a good sign, though, as they greeted him warmly. “Gabriel,” he replied. “Gabriel de le Poer.”

They carried a lot of things with them, and though Inferni was on their pelts, it was new. Someone else must have allowed them in. He sniffed at the air, taking in what he recognized as his half-brother. Family, as he had guessed. “You’re Razekiel’s other daughters, right?”

No problem, mine is too! Sorry. :x

“Gabriel,” he said, “Gabriel de le Poer.”

Immediately an expression of recognition exploded across her face. "Oh!" Sage gasped quietly, placing her hand over her mouth and turning to China momentarily, trying not to laugh. She couldn't help it, of course, and she let out a couple of soft giggles before turning her yellow eyes back to the handsome Gabriel.

"The Aquila?!" she answered excitedly, grinning widely. "My apologies! I didn't recognize you!" she said gently, leaning forward to touch his shoulder in a probably unnecessary, but reassuring gesture.

"You’re Razekiel’s other daughters, right?” Gabriel said, making an assumption about her heritage.

"Yep, that's right!" she chimed, her voice happy and upbeat. "Have you seen him?" she asked, her face momentarily shifting to reveal a more concerned expression. "Daddy, I mean..."

The tawny Lykoi girl glanced briefly to her sister, a hopeful but worried look. Did he know where Daddy was? Could he take them to him? And what if he didn't know... what if no one knew? For now, Sage tried to put these thoughts aside and focus on the Aquila with a warm and pleasant smile. His presence was a new and exciting thing to be cherished, like all things. And weren't they all related, too, somehow?

The male didn't seem particularly alarmed at the girls' approach, and China was somewhat relieved to note that he bore no ill expression in their direction, rather a gentle smile and reassuring tail-wag. Although not as absolutely trusting as her sister, the silvery girl was instantly relieved of any remnants of such a reception by this greeting. When the hybrid answered their question, however, a look of blank but pleased surprise comically flitted onto the girl's blushing features.

China's cerulean eyes slid to meet hat of her sister, and while Sage giggled softly, Razekiel's third daughter offered the Inferni Warrior-King a warm smile. So this was Gabriel, son of Kaena - Their uncle, though the bloodline was thinner there. When Sage offered their sincere humility for not having recognised his status, China nodded mutely, her gaze still curiously travelling over the male. She realised that she was looking for familiar traits in him; she was looking for any similarities he bore to Razekiel.

The thought of her father seemed to have passed through her and Gabriel at the same time, for he then spoke of the male, and the Lykoi princess' large ears flitted forward excitably. At the same time, however, China took a step closer to Sage, her arm gently brushing against the dark-haired girl's. The contact offered her comfort as Sage asked the question they were both desperate to receive a positive answer to. It had been so long since either daughter had seen their father - At least now they would be amongst other family, here on the land of their grandmother and their uncle.

Devious Lapis Lazuli watched Gabriel closely for a response. She was delighted to be in his company, the company of another relative - But oh, he looked so stern, even now when greeting his kin! And she would have to mention those skulls at the border. Sage and herself had decorated the horrible things in flowers as best they could. Maybe they could do the same to the Aquila.
